The ECA or whatever is called should refuse to accept representatives of these 12 clubs back into the fold

The most appropriate punishment for these clubs is not to give them any representative position on any executive in the game for a very extended period. let them see how it feels to be on the receiving end of others desires for decades and feel what the sense of powerlessness is like

I think it’s been a combination of factors. The fan/media reaction being one, but Boris turning the screw gave them no other option.Lowbankclaret wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 8:18 pmAre they saying the world fan reaction or the 300 that turned up tonight.
I don’t think they would admit it was Boris, not good PR.
Much better to say they listened to the fans. Being a cynic.
Credit to Boris. Credit to the fans. Credit to the players/managers who’ve spoken out. And credit to the media for the platform they’ve provided to be fair.
Just hope this properly weakens those clubs now.

Good summary taken from SM
"Watching the ESL crumble is breathtaking and I couldn’t be happier. But let’s remember why we came together. A group of billionaires who couldn’t care less about the you, me or our communities. This isn’t just football. This greed exists everywhere."

Without doubt.
These clubs need to be shown that there is a price for their selfishness. Having no say in the future of the direction of European competition, at least until the present boards have disappeared.

Not seen any confirmed reports of any other clubs pulling out but Ed going suggests Utd are not far behind.

Things have taken a turn for the better this evening.
Not the end certainly. Not even the beginning of the end. But it is the end of the beginning.

Even after all this collapses the teams involved should start next season on minus 30 points, kicked out of all Cup competitions for 5 years a transfer embargo for 2 seasons and made to wear a convicts style football strip all season

Out of interest CP, now that these clubs have been weakened, might UEFA look at the CL proposals in a new light and scrap this coefficient nonsense? Or was that effectively sealed yesterday?Chester Perry wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 8:31 pmThe most appropriate punishment for these clubs is not to give them any representative position on any executive in the game for a very extended period. let them see how it feels to be on the receiving end of others desires for decades and feel what the sense of powerlessness is like

Surely can’t just draw a line under all this afterwards and carry on as though nothing has happened. There has got to serious ramifications for all involved.

we can only hope, but I fear not
EDIT I should add that there are a few things that UEFA can still do
- make the extra four places go to champions not coefficients
- have a more equitable distribution of prize money across it's 3 competitions
- end the coefficient bonus that saw Real Madrid receive an extra Euro 35m for qualifying

VILLA: PL CLUBS WILL CONSIDER 'PUNITIVE ACTIONS' AGAINST SUPER LEAGUE SIXVegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 8:57 pmdoes anyone think the other 14 will just let is slide ? I don't
Aston Villa say that they and the other 13 Premier League clubs who met today will "consider a range of punitive actions" against the clubs who who were part of a breakaway Super League.
"Aston Villa stands alongside all the clubs, supporters groups and the entire football family who have condemned the plans to create a so-called European Super League," a club statement said.
"We are not standing idly by allowing the dreams of Aston Villa fans to be taken away by this sinister scheme.
"Working along with fellow members of the Premier League and its Board we have today agreed to consider a range of punitive actions against those clubs and their executives who are involved.
"We are reassured by the UK government’s position and the range of legislative options under consideration to do whatever it takes to prevent this scheme from becoming a reality."

The clubs involved must have known what the reaction of the fans and the media would be.
I think there is a hidden agenda here, although what that hidden agenda is I wouldn't like to say.

It is this level of revenue that has caused much of footballs recent problems, regular participation becomes a virtuous circle, particularly in the form of coefficient payments - it has underlined a sense of entitlement that now manifests as Super League

Re: “A blatant power grab” – Fans criticise own clubs on UCL plans
The problem that these 6 disgraces of "football clubs" have got now is that in a PR sense they are holed below the water line, there is literally no one fighting their case, so public opinion which was already polarised against them is heading only one way.
It's all about extricating themselves to save their credibility now and for most right minded individuals it's way, way too late.

Call me cynical but there's no way they made a jump to row back so meekly. Something else has gone on underneath (or players at the 2 clubs have said they aren't prepared to be tarred with the bruah).
No way have some protests cause this row back.
Let's be honest the champions league is already a closed shop in those countries where the super league started.

what a despicable and disgusting few days that was. Repulsive greedy ******** showing their true colours, predominantly red and white it appears.
Shocking indictment of the modern era of football. The game has been soiled by utter ****.
We as fans were due to be dismissed as nothing, had these whores have got their way.
I rather doubt there will be much trust for a long, long time. The beauty of the game has been permanently tarnished by money grubbing rats. Hatred for them doesnt begin to describe it.
