Re: Lukas Jutkiewicz - 500 up!
Started well with us in 2014/15 but couldn't get a goal, missing that good chance at Swansea too.
Following season he again started well, won us two pens at Leeds on opening day which weren't given but then suffered the cruciate in the fifth game of the season at Bristol City. That was it, didn't play another league game for us but he's done well at Birmingham and now benefiting from not having Karanka there.

Seemed a top bloke but a truly awful signing

He never started well at all. Was absolutely hopeless and a disaster of a signing. Used to run like he was stuck in treacle.. and you know was as dangerous as a baby mouse wrapped in bubble wrap.
Re: Lukas Jutkiewicz - 500 up!
Lethal prowess in pre seasons sadly not when it mattered. If he was still playing for us now he still wouldn’t have scored.

He started well - only the West Brom game where he was poor. It might not be your opinion but in a difficult start he was very much winning the man of the match votes and player ratings at the start of 2014/15.Right_winger wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 12:54 pmHe never started well at all. His comms cam appearance the night we beat Derby was brilliant

How did he win us 2 penalties if they weren't given?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 12:52 pmFollowing season he again started well, won us two pens at Leeds on opening day which weren't given but then suffered the cruciate in the fifth game of the season at Bristol City. I thought is hold up, and general play was good but he just couldn't find the net. Clearly a good character though. Glad he went on for success elsewhere.

Re: Lukas Jutkiewicz - 500 up!
Once had a bet with my brother over 5 packets of Fruit Pastilles (high stakes I know) that he would never score a PL goal for us. I won.
All round play was alright but never looked close to scoring, no goal threat at all.

I remember the crowd calling for him to come on at some points in the first (?) premier league games under dyche as he did show some ability, even if he couldn’t score to save his life.

Re: Lukas Jutkiewicz - 500 up!
A good example of an honest pro elevated to somewhere beyond his capabilities. Not the first and not the last by any means. Seen him a lot on TV in the Championship and always appears to give everything he has to offer. Subbed near the end of the match v Rotherham the other day soaked in sweat and shirt ripped around his neck. Think Bowyer appreciated his contribution.
Re: Lukas Jutkiewicz - 500 up!
I really quite liked him as a character and as a supporting forward player. Sadly, he simply wasn't an appropriate signing for a Premier League team to make. It said more about the budget constraints were were operating under at the time.
A really good championship player though and it's a shame he didn't get a good crack at it with us the year after.

Re: Lukas Jutkiewicz - 500 up!
This is the thing. He was never a premier league player really. He's found his level and doing well there in a pretty average team so good for him. We signed a few strikers around that time that were dead money, albeit cheap they added up. Vossen, Hennings and Juke were never the right players, though I did think Hennings stood a chance at the time. Not a pop at Dyche though, he's certainly signed some good strikers tooDevils_Advocate wrote: ↑Sun Apr 18, 2021 3:34 pm...apart from a Premier League footballer...still at least he wasnt the worst striker we signed that summer

Re: Lukas Jutkiewicz - 500 up!
Juke is a handy Championship striker, but he's nowhere near PL standard, mind you what do you expect for £1.5m these days.
If he's played 500 career games at a good level he must have something about him, but sadly it never showed itself at Burnley.

Re: Lukas Jutkiewicz - 500 up!
As ever, we have to take it to extremes on here with opinions. He's a decent Championship player, but not up to the top flight. That's why he was the price he was and his all round play, particularly holding it up was decent. Played alright in that Chelsea game I think but never got that goal he needed.
We seem to save most of our scorn for decent players from the 2nd division that we ask to play 1st division football because we can't afford the going rate. See Jones, Wallace etc.

Hennings was unlucky that we signed Gray at the same time and formed such a partnership with Vokeswillsclarets wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 10:39 amThis is the thing. Bosses just used us to to get his move to Brugge as Genk wouldn’t sell to them (allegedly)
