Tonight's footy 20/4

Post by tiger76 » Tue Apr 20, 2021 6:05 pm

So away from all the ESL talk there is some actual footy taking place later.

Chelsea-Brighton in the PL, tricky one this normally I'd be wanting a Chelsea victory, but they're one of the dirty dozen so I can't want them to win, equally we don't really want Brighton to move clear of us, so a stalemate would be best I think.

Norwich can seal the Championship title, and Hull can seal their promotion up to the Champ.

Bristol Rovers have a must win game at home to MKD, and in League 2 Cheltenham and Morecambe face tricky away trips to Stevenage and Grimsby respectively, the standout fixture in that league has to be Bolton-Carlisle although Forest Green-Exeter is also vital for the promotion battle.

Watford lead at Narch. 65mins gone.
Brentford equalise v. Cardiff
Nobenders lead v. Derby...could it happen? Please, please, pretty please.

Excellent game between Norwich and Watford. You can't beat competitive games with something to aim for.

KO delayed at Chelsea which isn't a surprise given all the events of the evening thus far.

Is the delayed ko at Chelsea due to protests anyone?

Yes,the Brighton players are refusing to play against a superleague team, saying they can't put up with the hard tackles . :D

Are we saying please to Derby going down?

Rotherham still have 3 games in hand don't they?
Just need to find some form.

Ah! conyoviejo do keep up they're now an ex superleague team.

Though you wouldn't notice the difference between them and Brighton in the 1st half.

Stanley nick it late against Donny to keep their PO hopes alive.

Accrington must be regretting some of those careless results they've 'thrown in' fairly recently.

Bristol Rovers lost and baring a major miracle they are going down.

3 wins in a row for Rochdale, but it might all be in vain alas.

Cheltenham and Morecambe could be heading in the opposite direction, but League 2 is incredibly tight as it stands.

In terms of us finishing higher than 4th from bottom a bit of a disaster.

Wanted Chelsea to wipe the floor with them tonight

So glad that game is now over. Seemed to go on for weeks. Absolutely dire.
Chelsea are pathetic. Did they really think they are superior to the rest of the premier league? On that showing they look like what they are, a selfish bunch of average individuals.

Draws not terrible, the main thing is we need to start putting points on the board, and if we do that we'll see where it takes us.

Good result for Leicester and West Ham, and it'd be hilarious if they both finished ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool this season that really would be karma for all this nonsense.

No but Chelsea are unlikely to play so poorly against Fulham, tonight was a unique atmosphere prior to the game, and they wouldn't be human if they weren't distracted by all the outside noise, plus they're just coming off a huge cup win over Man City only a few days ago, so it's natural that their performance won't be 100%.

The reality is as long as we do what we need to do we shouldn't have to worry about anybody else, our ultimate fate is very much in our own hands, and if we can't survive from this position we clearly don't deserve to stay in this league.

I'm just hoping we don't see a flat performance from Leicester on Thursday.

If Chelsea had started the same team as their last game they'd probably have won, having said that I thought Brighton were excellent in their work rate and game plan, not pretty to watch but it worked for them. For a Club with the quality of players that Chelsea have they were disappointing.

The Brentford fan club has gone very quiet of late on here.

Wonder if the Brentford forum has fans who wished their club when during recruitment considered players character and bottle.

This is why I believe it to be totally unfair to allow home fans in, just for one vital match in the season.

Cheltenham winning.

Watford win and they're on the verge now.
Cheltenham could be as good as promoted at the weekend if 4th place Morecambe lose to 3rd place Bolton on Saturday. They're currently 3 points ahead of Morecambe so if Morecambe lose and Cheltenham win the gap will increase to 6 points and Morecambe will only have 2 games less and a goal difference that's more than 10 worse. Cheltenham still have a game in hand too so it's looking pretty good for Michael Duffs side even if Morecambe and Bolton are both on great runs of form.

It won matter for the Championship. Last game is the 8th.

I thought they were moving the penultimate game in our league to mid week. Was that ever confirmed?

I'm thinking more of us being at a significant disadvantage at Bramall Lane.
if any team has missed their fans since they were locked out last March it's Sheff Utd.

It seems like our game v Liverpool will be in front of fans. Few papers reporting it although still can’t see it confirmed anywhere.
