Marsden Park Golf Course
Marsden Park Golf Course
So it appears last night some little scrotes have attempted to set fire to the clubhouse. Think the fire brigade got there in decent time but it still looks a mess, not sure how much damage has been done to the inside of the building.
Must be soul destroying for everyone at the club after preparing all winter for reopening. They've just taken on new caterers as well.

Re: Marsden Park Golf Course
Last year I was reading about antisocial behaviour and vandalism by a gang of kids in some part of Colne. Our authorities knew who the perpetrators were, but didn't want to prosecute because it would give them (13/14-year-olds) a criminal conviction.
And then we wonder why some scrotes grow up to become persistent criminals, costing society a fortune (plus the impact on the poor unfortunate victims) with their burglary, violence and worse.

You should join the Colne CSP. I believe their patience is growing thin with all the ASB in Colne now.Billy Balfour wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 5:28 pmLast year I was reading about antisocial behaviour and vandalism by a gang of kids in some part of Colne. I was a junior member at Marsden Park and spent hours up there (even though I was incredibly crap at golf).
Although I haven't been up there for years it really saddens me to read that.

Must be really gutting for Neil who has really transformed the place. He is an old friend from school days at Walton and I have popped in for a pint and a catch up when in the area. My parents live a short walk from the golf club so its nice and local. I hope that firstly they catch the **** responsible and that it doesn't impact on the club too badly.

Re: Marsden Park Golf Course
Shocking, my Wife had booked us for a meal which is now in doubt. The thoughtless and wanton actions of the perpetrators have spoiled the opportunity for no doubt much needed income for the venue, and I now have a very brassed off Mrs who was looking forward to a meal there. We will rebook when opened, but this was a birthday outing after a very difficult year for all.

Very sad indeed ,spent many a happy year trying to play golf up there,I hope the scumbags are caught and severely punished. Hoping Neil can get the clubhouse back to normal ASAP.

Re: Marsden Park Golf Course
Front 9 is quite gentle. Back 9 is far more punishing.
Re: Marsden Park Golf Course
The views from the course are fantastic, especially on a nice clear day. Agree that the front 9 is much more gentle than the back 9, holes 10, 16 and 17 are a very good test it is fair to say and will give you a good workout! Fairways also in good nick, greens cut well but maybe could do with an iron.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 9:30 pmWhat’s the golf course like up there? Well worth a round, I've played a number of times over the last 12 months and really enjoyed it.

Re: Marsden Park Golf Course
Let's hope those responsible are caught and given a stern telling off.
There are people who would massively benefit going forward in life from a slap or two to teach them their actions have consequences, luckily for them we have the telling off method in the hope they stop being pricks

A telling off as you put it is like water off a ducks back to these kids.Only way is the hard way unfortunately thats all they understand.
Spare the rod and spoil the child is a very true saying for some kids.

To get this straight, you’re promoting physical abuse of children as a form of punishment? Wow.The Enclosure wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 8:54 amA telling off as you put it is like water off a ducks back to these kids.Only way is the hard way unfortunately thats all they understand.

Since when did hitting children with rods stop them from misbehaving? Have you got any proof that hitting children acts as a deterrent or are you just a sadist?

Re: Marsden Park Golf Course
It's definitely worth a game if you've never played it before. Front 9 not too difficult but the back 9 is longer and some tough holes. You also need to be in relatively decent shape if you're planning on playing 18 holes as it's pretty hilly!Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Wed Apr 21, 2021 9:30 pmWhat’s the golf course like up there? Re: Marsden Park Golf Course
I don’t think children’s behaviour has deteriorated to the extent that some people think. The little it has is in direct proportions to worsening adult attitudes.
