Things I learned.

I always thought reservoirs were all about drinking water. Didn’t realise some were built just to top up the canals.

The cotton mills of East Lancashire were there mainly due to the humidity/ rainfall which was perfect for cotton production.

Hollingworth Lake was built in 1800 as a source of water for the Rochdale canal, it has seldom provided drinking water but was later developed as a tourist/environmental attraction - the Weighvers’ seaport!
