Tarks contract?
Sorry if this has been discussed and I've missed it...
Is there any chance of Tarks signing a new contract and staying? Now that we're pretty much safe and there are much more positive noises coming from the manager and owners about pushing on this summer, could that be enough to convince him to stay?
I think we could be looking much stronger next season...(hopefully!)

Re: Tarks contract?
Is there a chance yes, will it happen, unlikely I'd say, but in football you never know. And if JT wants European football he isn't going to stay at Burnley more's the pity, so we need to decide whether we take any offers this summer, or let him run his contract down and walk on a free next year.

No. Wasn’t it September when he went running to the national press issuing a ‘come and get me’ plea saying he wanted Champions League football?

Actually wouldn’t be surprised if he did think he’s missed his chance of a move to a ‘big club’.
Re: Tarks contract?
Think he was hoping to be playing in the European Super League, but now that’s dead in the water he might sign a new contract

Scoring at Old Trafford will have got him noticed again and put his price up a notch
Re: Tarks contract?
Feels a certainty he will move to a bigger club. He’s been brilliant for us and continues to do his best so he will be missed when he goes.

Re: Tarks contract?
I can see West Ham returning, they’ll be in the Europa at least and will likely see this summer as an opportunity to grab a top target for £20/25m.
I think we need to let him go this time, shake his hand and thank him for a terrific five years. We can’t realistically keep him for another year and let him go for free surely.

Re: Tarks contract?
He won’t sign.
He’s an ambitious lad and knows it’s pretty much now or never to massively upgrade his salary and possibly play in Europe too.
It’s a shame, but that’s just how these things work.

Re: Tarks contract?
If he is only moving for European football I’m not sure where he would go now West Ham have given a contract to Dawson.
If he moves for money the next tier down would all be improved by signing him.

You’d expect West Ham or Leicester once again. Both would be a good step up in his eyes.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 5:31 pmIf he is only moving for European football I’m not sure where he would go now West Ham have given a contract to Dawson.

Re: Tarks contract?
Possibly but Leicester look very solid and I thought West Ham had taken Dawson on for one season but he’s been that good he’s earned his contract. I’m not sure they need him now.

Re: Tarks contract?
I don't really understand the logic that West Ham and Leicester won't be interested anymore. He's just had another decent season and he'll cost a lot less now with his contract situation.

He’s good enough and would improve a side like Arsenal, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them make a move.

Re: Tarks contract?
For 20 to 25 million he stays, no way we can replace him for that.
He can wait a year and pickup big wages then.

I imagine he will have confidence in his ability to the extent he will believe he will play regularly.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 6:00 pmSo splinters in his arse then. He’s better off here.
Re: Tarks contract?
And we're potentially stuck with a key player who wants out and has his mind elsewhere. I say take the money this summer, let him progress his career and move on.steve1264b wrote: ↑Sun Apr 25, 2021 6:01 pmFor 20 to 25 million he stays, no way we can replace him for that.

Re: Tarks contract?
It could well be that we’ve agreed to let him go, if he stayed with us for another season. Hopefully if he is to leave we’ve someone lined up and Dyche is given some, if not all of the money, to bolster his kitty for the summer.
Re: Tarks contract?
Surely the Board wouldn't allow him to leave for nothing in 2022.

Re: Tarks contract?
Not sure he will play in the Champions League but I think for certain West Ham will be back and more attractive for him.
Liverpool need a quality CH and that would push up the fee a bit.

Re: Tarks contract?
Such a shame because with a bit of investment and the right players in the Summer we could be looking for a strong midtable season with who knows Top 10 in sight. Him & Mee would be the backbone to that, their partnership has become so good. Add in Lowts & Taylor's attacking qualities, as well as defensively, our back 5 really is quite strong.

In that case we could do a deal involving Ben Davies, who is unlikely to feature for Liverpool

Re: Tarks contract?
If he wants European footy Arsenal isn't the place for him, I can see Leicester or West ham rekindling their interest this summer, especially as he's now entering the last 12 months of his contract.
We've already lost Hendrick on a free after shelling out big bucks for him, Brady looks like going the same way, so I really don't see how we can possibly allow Tarks to also leave the building for nothing.

Re: Tarks contract?
I don't know in fairness, but he attracted attention from a number of clubs including Leicester.Hopefully our scouting set up will have tracked him. Something tells me though that Liverpool would not have given him a contract if he was poor
I am still confident we will keep Tarks. If we can improve next year, he will attract attention from Southgate, though I think Tarks has a number of players ahead of him in the England queue
Re: Tarks contract?
I think he’ll go and we can’t risk him going for nothing. Been a great player for us regardless and think all fans would be sorry to see him go. Great partnership with Mee and think it will be tougher for him at another club. We must keep McNeil and Pope this Summer though.

It won't cost us £20-25 million either.
Re: Tarks contract?
I think he will go too. I don’t see how we can keep him for an extra 12 months against his wishes as the few games when his head hasn’t been in it he was very questionable. We will move on and I’ll wish him all the best.

Re: Tarks contract?
I don’t think Tark’s ambition to play European football means that he will limit his options to clubs competing in Europe next season. There are a number of clubs who would give him a better opportunity of playing in Europe than us.

Re: Tarks contract?
If West Ham want him see if they will include Lingard in the deal as that will sort out our right wing troubles
Re: Tarks contract?
We were interested in him whilst he was at PNE and he was on our radar before Liverpool came calling, so I'd say we would still be interested in him IF he became available.
However, I dont think Liverpool would be interested In Tarky

I said it last time we had a speculation thread about Turks’ potential destinations, and it mystifies me why nobody considers his European options, including, as has been mentioned above, Scotland. Personally I don’t expect to see him in the premier league

Re: Tarks contract?
Sell him and try to get Anderson from Lyon. He has looked a good player for Fulham this season and is only 24. I am sure Ben can work his magic again.
If we got £20m for Tarks and had to pay £25m for Andersen it wouldn't break the bank paying £10m, after Brentford took their cut.
Better than keeping a player who doesn't want to be here.
Bonus as well of him already having played in the Premier.

Re: Tarks contract?
I'd be straight in for Ben Davies, regardless of Tarks situation. The start of this season demonstrated where we are without 2 good quality centre backs available.
Liverpool haven't even used him so the lad should be chomping at the bit to play and this way he stays local. Wages surely wouldn't be an issue and whilst Liverpool will add the inevitable 'Liverpool markup' on to the price he should still be well within our budget.

Re: Tarks contract?
I've always thought the ideal situation was that if we were to sell Tarkowski to West Ham we might be able to do a deal in getting Craig Dawson in return.
As West Ham are obliged to buy Dawson due to the number of appearances he's made, would they be allowed to let him go to another club in the same transfer window if they felt he was surplus to requirements?

Given Johnny Evans is 33 I would say Leicester is Tarks likely option this summer.
Re: Tarks contract?
Quite likely as it looks as though they will qualify for the Champions League again and in doing so upset our BIG SIX of the Dirty Dozen.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Apr 27, 2021 4:10 pmGiven Johnny Evans is 33 I would say Leicester is Tarks likely option this summer.
