Speaks a lot of sense on the matter for me.

Re: Dyche to Spurs
No catching or nothing sinister about it. Seeing as we're on a Burnley FC forum then thought it would be an interesting discussion point. Strange I know.

Re: Dyche to Spurs
So many pundits unaware of how Dyche's teams played with a fit Defour or a fit and motivated Ings, thank goodness.

He would undoubtedly be a success but let’s thank our luck stars that they, or any other moneyed club, would never take him.

Re: Dyche to Spurs
The funny thing is these types of teams, top teams who are looking to win something like Spurs, Everton etc, have even tried with proven winners and they are still nowhere nearer, Ancelotti & Mourihno.
Why they wouldnt just chance their luck on an outsider for once, like Dyche, amazes me really. They have nothing to lose.
The sense of Dyche not winning anything is all relative really. Him doing what he's done for us is just the same as winning anything for a bigger club.

Agree, but it begs the question who does? It's like a poisoned chalice.

I’ve mentioned this a few times and have been laughed at! I’ve long felt Dyche will make it to the top of the game, and that he will be looking for a ‘next move’ to progress his career.

Spurs gambled on an outsider with Pochettino. He’d won nothing before and he’d won nothing when he left.diamondpocket wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 12:34 pmThe funny thing is these types of teams, top teams who are looking to win something like Spurs, Everton etc, have even tried with proven winners and they are still nowhere nearer, Ancelotti & Mourihno.

Re: Dyche to Spurs
The big thing Jordan overlooks is Dyche and his management team's ability to improve players, or get the maximum from them.
Ings, Trippier, Keane, Mee, Heaton, Arfield, Boyd, Wood, Gray, Tarkowski, Westwood, Lowton, Pope...... I'm sure there are others too, all improved, or fulfilled potential under Dyche, that other managers couldn't unlock.

Re: Dyche to Spurs
Yeah, after doing well at Saints. He took Spurs to another level that made them think they could compete; Champions League, even a final & top 4 finishes, that is success for Spurs. A trophy would have been the cherry on top but it didn't come. Doesn't take away his achievement for me; he put them up there with the big guns fighting with the rest.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 1:28 pmSpurs gambled on an outsider with Pochettino. I think it would be great to see Dyche there to see if he can step up and manage big name players.

Re: Dyche to Spurs
You’ll not get an argument from me that Pochettino is a great manager but, as was said during the City match last night, is he a winning manager? He hasn’t even got PSG top of the French League and they will find getting past City very difficult.diamondpocket wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 1:59 pmYeah, after doing well at Saints. Personally I’d like to see SD at Burnley for my lifetime. Sod Spurs.

Re: Dyche to Spurs
It's amazing how many managers that do fit their profile, have failed.
Maybe they need to reflect on the fact that a foreign name, and no amount of hype, guarantees nothing.
Personally I'd be delighted if they continue to make the same mistakes, over and over again.
I should imagine that it must be frustrating for Sean to be cast as a one trick pony, yet we who have followed the Clarets for long enough, have all seen some fantastic football from his sides. I've said many times that since the Villa game, we have played some really good football, acknowledged by the pundits, without getting our just rewards. The best response SD can make is to continue playing in that same fashion, and show the show ponies, that Burnley can match any of them when it comes to attacking football.
Starting with West Ham

Re: Dyche to Spurs
Would someone who earns 3.5m per annum for a club where he has pretty much total control of the areas he wants to have control of go to a club where he has less control of the areas he wants control of and about 1000 per cent more pressure, just for perhaps double the salary? That would be the question for Sean.
The fact that the media, chairmen et all underestimate what he has done and continues to do at Burnley is perfect for us. I suspect he will need to get us into Europe again, probably the top 4 in fact, in order to get a top 6 job. There is no doubt he would have done a better job at Arsenal than Arteta is doing, for example, with the players and cash at his disposal.

Re: Dyche to Spurs
We saw the other day once their fans turn on them Big clubs owners become cowards... no big club is going to risk having a fan base that thinks, yes we’ll give him six months to settle in, build the mentality and then begin recruiting. A couple of seasons and we’ll be motoring....
.... Burnley is exceptional in a lot of ways missed by those looking in.

Re: Dyche to Spurs
Why not. I don't think he's the guy to go for the money. The prestige of managing a considered top 6 club, pushing for Champions League, playing in it, and being able to work with top players day in day out, and also improve them in certain ways to his style, would be the carrot. Even more to prove to himself and others that he is able to do it and show he is success. The pay is decent regardless but his ambition to further himself as a manager, which going to Spurs or an Everton for example would be, is surely enough to take him away from us.Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 6:46 pmWould someone who earns 3.5m per annum for a club where he has pretty much total control of the areas he wants to have control of go to a club where he has less control of the areas he wants control of and about 1000 per cent more pressure, just for perhaps double the salary? Nobody is saying it's gonna happen, I doubt many are putting money on it. But despite him being our manager, when he does move, I hope it's to a much bigger club with big bigger resources, stadium and fans, and show that he's capable of being successful. He deserves after all he's done with us. Like we want players to further themselves, so should Dyche.

If he went there I'd give him a season at best; and that's nothing to do with his ability.

Be fantastic to see Sean Dyche at a PerscievedTop Club ....with superior players at his disposal he wouldn't be grinding 1..0 results out. ..

Jury is till very much out on Poch, he did well at Spurs, but he didn't deliver silverware, and his stint PSG his been somewhat hit and miss so far.huw.Y.WattfromWare wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 2:07 pmYou’ll not get an argument from me that Pochettino is a great manager but, as was said during the City match last night, is he a winning manager? Totally agree on SD why do Burnley fans always want to sell our best players (Wood) or wish our best ever manager certainly in my lifetime to move on, this thinking baffles me it really does.

Re: Dyche to Spurs
lots of factors to take into consideration for things to succeed as a new manager.
Timing is key. the new club has to be a good fit for both parties.
If there are warring factions at boardroom level then that spells trouble from day one.
They might look a great prospect financially, but will they be able to spend enough to satisfy the fans and the owners when the opponents are outspending them every season and winning trophies.
Mourinho is one of the worlds best, and he didnt last too long.
just because burnley are comparative minnows with little transfer clout, doesnt mean assembling a team of multi million pound stars will equal a step up. no manager can plot a career course through football thesedays. Might be a wish to manage a high profile team, but once it goes **** up, and you are branded a failure its difficult to regain what you once had previously.
