There is an appeal currently underway as Lage doesn't currently meet the criteria for a work permit

You are a bit late with this - it’s been going on since last Monday. He was refused then but I think Wolves have appealed.

I was surprised to read the other day that this bloke was working in England as recently as 3 years ago as assistant to Carvalhal at Sheff Wed and Swansea.

Its just popped up for me elsewhere, I hadn't seen it mentioned on here either.
He's also a client of Mendes.

Wolves have also been liked with Steven Gerrard if some papers are to be believed, I honestly can't see why he'd leave Rangers for Wolves, not now anyhow a year ago it might have been a different story, but Rangers are guaranteed CL footy for a few months at least after their title win, something which Wolves can't currently offer him.

I can’t imagine Wolves will look beyond Mendes clients unless they are forced toGodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Sun May 30, 2021 1:51 pmIts just popped up for me elsewhere, I hadn't seen it mentioned on here either.

Re: Wolves want Lage as manager- doesn't qualify for work permit.
The latest on the Large soap opera.
Bruno Lage's work permit hearing tomorrow.
Wolves’ preferred candidate to replace Nuno Espirito Santo as manager will have his work permit hearing tomorrow.
Former Benfica boss Bruno Lage does not meet the criteria required to be allowed to move to England.
However, Wolves hope the 45-year-old’s recent stints as assistant manager to Carlos Carvalhal at both Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea will count in his favour.
Lage has quickly been identified as the right fit to take over at a club that already has a huge Portuguese influence.
It is anticipated Wolves will get a decision from the Football Association tomorrow, which would allow them to tie up the final stages of Lage’s arrival at Molineux.
I'm not certain that it will help Wolves case to highlight Lage's spells at either Sheffield Wednesday or Swansea in my view.

Well from what I can recall neither of those teams exactly pulled up any trees during his time at either, I guess Wolves will argue that he's already worked in the UK as part of their appeal, and yes strictly that is true even if it was only as an assistant.
If Wolves want to appoint Lage that's fine by me, anything which keeps teams sniffing around Sean Dyche suits us just dandy.

Probably, but it's interesting that Sheff Wed & Swansea have gone in vastly different directions since, one for the worst, and one for the better.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 4:50 pmThey'll just skirt round the edges about how crap those teams are

Maybe bring their former boss Brian Little back to team up with this chap.I reckon they'd be a good double act.

Is it an agent or something that's behind the Portuguese managers, players and away kit? I checked Wikipedia and their owners appear to be Chinese, if it is an agent I find it to be an extraordinary level of influence for them to have.

Re: Wolves want Lage as manager- doesn't qualify for work permit.
Apparently the FA have cleared Lage and he is likely to become the next Wolves manager.
Just one question, when did the FA become the body to decide who should get work permits and who shouldn’t?
As the organiser of a local agricultural show that can’t get the usual marquee company to erect the marquees as their staff were mainly Polish and cant get permits, can the FA step in to issue permits to those guys.
All seems very strange to me.

Rumoured to want Brian Little as his assistant.
