Diego Costa
Word on the street is that we are interested in replacing Barnes with Diego Costa.
Straight from the mouth of Keith Blackburn who knows his stuff when it comes to BFC.
Keith broke the news about us signing Will Norris among others.

Think he was influential in Gaz Evans big money move to Burnley United circa 1994.

Ironically it was over the road in Rhode Island where Keith mentioned this. Perhaps one to many espressos. But I would love this to be true. What a statement.

The statement is more likely to be Jordan Rhodes

It has to be broken at some point. Why would any player worth his salt complain if we brought in one of the greatest strikers in a generation?Chester Perry wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 1:59 pmindeed a smashed salary ceiling for a temporary stop gap, is there anything he do on the development side for our kids?
His experience and ability to mentor our young prospects would be worth it alone. But still a top player that would perfectly suit our style.

broken yes smashed no, not in such uncertain times, when we are desperately clawing for additional revenues and finding are cash reserves so heavily depletedcricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 2:23 pmIt has to be broken at some point. It would be a lot cheaper to bring in a specialist coach, like Newcastle did earlier this year - the transformation was remarkable, without any of the baggage

Re: Diego Costa
His goal scoring record in his 2nd spell at Atletico was very poor compared to his Chelsea time.
It's no coincidence that they went out and signed Suarez, who's scoring record is vastly superior to Costa's, despite being 2 yrs older.
Monster of a player at Chelsea, but he's in a decline by the looks of it and we probably wouldn't suit him.
He was also on £250k a week there..

How many additional shirts at a 7% margin would costa Sell and how would that factor to his wages - No player has ever justified their sale/signing in shirt sales as Florentino Perez knows

Re: Diego Costa
(1) This is a truly epic batshit crazy transfer rumour.
(2) Itd be great if it happened- just to see the faces of EVERY other football club, fan, reporter etc in the country.
(3) I sincerely doubt it would EVER happen.
I wonder if Tripps is friends with him and could put a good word in though?

Funnily enough Keith and I were there just a few months back doing a bit of scouting. Got back stage access for the game with Hateyspor. Seriously impressive set up and if they want him they’ve git every chance.

Re: Diego Costa
He wants 4 million euros net at Besiktas so basically about 120+ per week gross. Tbh the new owners may have different views to our previous regime in terms of how the finances work. I would say it is very doable but as others have said very unlikely indeed.

Re: Diego Costa
52 goals in 89 appearance for Chelsea says otherwise. We could only dream to sign a player of his caliber, even if he is a lot older now. Absolutely handful of a player who would fit our system perfectly.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Thu Jun 03, 2021 6:37 pmAnd by the way, Costa will never be an adequate replacement for Barnes.
