Graphic designer role at BFC
Another vacancy at the turf for anyone interested.
Re: Graphic designer role at BFC
£15-20k is insulting to a Graphics Designer with the experience required for the job.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 1:46 pmAnother vacancy at the turf for anyone interested.
That kind of salary is suited to a Junior Graphics Designer role straight out of college.

Absolutely no idea what is decent for a role of this nature.
I only saw it because Vizeh has applied for the role.

Re: Graphic designer role at BFC
The salaries advertised for jobs that require a certain level of experience or qualification do seem to be somewhat removed from reality. 37.5 hours pw at minimum wage would pay 17,374 pa. The old saying about peanuts and monkeys springs to mind here. Expect our promotional and advertising material to resemble something designed on an Etch a Sketch if this is what they are willing to pay.

Funnily enough, since Gary Taphouse from Sky Sports tweeted about it, it has been edited to just say 'from £15k a year'. It's on Indeed

Re: Graphic designer role at BFC
Could someone please explain why a graphic designer will have to work on matchdays ?
At that salary, they don't even get free gym membership !!!!

Re: Graphic designer role at BFC
Well as the candidate would need experience with AfterEffects (video editing software). I suspect maybe to edit on the fly? But that's more a video editor role, not a graphics designer...Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 2:32 pmCould someone please explain why a graphic designer will have to work on matchdays ?

I'd only seen it on the club website where it just says competitiveMarkGreen wrote: ↑Mon Jul 05, 2021 2:25 pmFunnily enough, since Gary Taphouse from Sky Sports tweeted about it, it has been edited to just say 'from £15k a year'. It's on Indeed

Re: Graphic designer role at BFC
This is entry level money where someone works with an experienced team.
Re: Graphic designer role at BFC
Course Leader B.A. Hons . Fine Art £18,000 a year, part-time, in other words 3 full-time jobs crammed into a part-time salary in the South East England £300,000 a home at least. jobs.ac.uk today.
If someone were to actually burn down the college for that insult, it would not surprise me.
I'll have 1 million quid for a day's consultancy BFC.

15k a year for a full time job which requires training and niche knowledge. Hilarious.

It’s insulting and embarrassing.
It wasn’t too long ago that the club was asking for volunteers to work on match days. It seems there’s still some areas in which we still act like a division 4 club.

Harking back to the days when we didn't have a pot to pee in and the club expected people to work for next to nowt.
Re: Graphic designer role at BFC
Sadly a graphic design salary isn't great unless you get a job somewhere you can progress up the ladder or set up and work freelance.
So many graphic design courses and programs where a design facility is built-in has created more designers than jobs - many who go to college to do graphic design having moved on to other careers.
I know this as I was lucky enough to get a break in marketing after years on 15-20k salary.
That being said, it does seem low for the coverage and impact design work created for the club would have.

Re: Graphic designer role at BFC
Sadly this is par for the course in football. Whilst the footballers get amazing wages, the same cannot be said for support staff.
My son worked as a performance analyst for another club. Needed a degree, 1 years experience as an unpaid intern to get the job. Then worked 70 hours a week with just three weeks leave. Obviously worked weekends. All for the princely sum of £18k per year!

Re: Graphic designer role at BFC
Yeah graphic designers are very poorly paid unfortunately, so I’m not sure this is far wide of the mark.
Nice job though.
