Dyche comments on Cornet
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
We played very well at the home of a team with huge investment and sat at the top of the league.
Could have easily got something - pen not given, goal not given etc.
Stop moaning. Be pleased with our quality team and cheer on the lads this coming weekend.

They've been under achieving for years. They have a multi million pound squad. It's no surprise to see them turn it around like they did.IanMcL wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 4:35 pmWe played very well at the home of a team with huge investment and sat at the top of the league.

I understand the nature of the defeat hurts but they are a very good team with a good manager. Criticism of us is very valid but sometimes it's worth taking a look at other teams and seeing the kind of players they're able field. They may have underperformed recently but they still have a team of superstars.
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Yes SD. They are not underperformed this season! They are top and we outgunned them for a lot of the match. That is what we must not forget.

Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
If Cornet is any good I’d expect Jay/Vydra to come into play certainly . Though it’s our midfield which while “ ok” it’s almost a dead zone of creativity. Joking aside I think SD would happily open up play if he could get another couple of high class players

If we're waiting for him to learn English fluently before he can play we might be in for a long wait...
Understandable he didn't get on last night, but would seriously expect him to be pushing for minutes in the next game or so.

Surely all we have to tell him is “defend a lot” and he’ll be alright in the system.
Seriously though, he will pick up language quickly and it doesn’t take a genius to work out the wide positions in our system. As simple as they come - get right back when opposition attack and play outside the full back and cross it in when going forward. Don’t vary from that and he’ll be alright.
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
To be fair, Dyche's comments on Cornet aren't half as embarrassing as the bickering I've just read through on this thread.
Still pretty embarrassing though.

Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Don't know who to trust on this matter Sean Dyche or a bunch of messageboard throbbers.

When he goes on a mazy 40 yard run and smashes it into the net at least he can say "Sorry Boss, no understand you pass back and get into defensive shape'

I would of thought he could of got some minutes against port Vale today roberts played
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
I agree. Where was Lennon when the 3 goals were scored last night? Sat on the bench , yet a lot of folk on here sound like they blame the lad for the defeat. How about blaming the chaps who were actually on the field and conceded 3 goals in 6 minutes.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 1:56 pmI don’t think Lennon was sent on to recover the deficit, he was sent on to steady the ship and hopefully allow others to regain their composure so they could try.

Dyche again mentioned English being limited again in interview today. Hope this isn’t going to take ages. He’ll lift the place once he starts, whether he plays well or not.

If Cornet is struggling to understand the system SD could call him to the touchline and show him on the I-Pad

Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
I reckon hes good to go seeing as hes scored a few past Ederson, makes him about 90% better than all the players we currently have surely.
Football is a universal language
"Track back when we don't have the ball", how hard can the instructions be?

Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Can rarely garner much from a press conference but Dyche kinda indicates Cornet won't be starting on Saturday. He obviously isn't going to announce the line up is he, but saying along the lines of "He's fit enough to play but the Premier League is just different" and "Got to choose the right time for him to be involved", as well as comments about his English... I think a late sub appearance at the most is to be expected.

Dyche can just ask the Arsenal players to translate instructions.

Would the footballing world expect Dyche to try and speak a bit of French to welcome him here and help him settle in or is it just up to the player to learn any language the Coaching staff speak in?

Probably one of the many reasons why clubs at the very top employ foreign coaches and managers.Iloveyoubrady wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 3:38 pmDyche again mentioned English being limited again in interview today. Thomas Tuchel obviously speaks German but is also fluent in English, French and Spanish enabling him to converse easily with the dressing room.

Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
It might sound silly but this is all the stuff the club would/should have in place if we're going to be utilising the foreign market. You'd imagine other Prem clubs would have a dedicated team in helping players settle in - housing, translation, schools etc. It'd be interesting to find out just what we do have.
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Not silly at all - an important part of a club. I imagine we're behind other teams in this department, if only because they haven't had much practice!!FeedTheArf wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 5:26 pmIt might sound silly but this is all the stuff the club would/should have in place if we're going to be utilising the foreign market. Sergio Aguero never learned english in all the years at Man City, never stopped him.
Re: Dyche comments on Cornet
Makes you wonder how other clubs play players who speak other languages. We can afford to throw millions at Dyche and the players so I’m sure we can afford an interpreter or Dyche and the coaching staff could make the effort to speak some French. Our approach doesn’t half look tin pot sometimes.

Dyche in front of a picture board.
" This is called ball, these are called nets , this is a kick, now put all these together, ball kick into net "
Cornet.
" I do understand a bit of English Mr Dyche"
Dyche
" Oh it's not for you Maxwell, it's for these other useless fukk£rs "

We should sack SD, and give Del Trotter the job, that would sort it. fabrique chassis as they say in France

Some people showing how staggeringly clueless they are when it comes to football. Do you really think the way we play is as simple as ‘track back when you lose the ball’. Mind boggling.

Nobody actually thinks that but what we all do know is that the way we play is relatively simple compared to some systems in world football.

Of course not.
When Cornet finds himself in a wide position he also has to learn "On my head son".

You’re not really getting this are you? I’m arguing that our system isn’t simple enough that a player can just be thrown in without preparation - so why would I claim to know the intricacies of the way we play? Question remains, what is so complicated about our play that a new player can't go straight in the lineup, genuine question.

I know that they will spend time meticulously studying and preparing for the opposition. They will spend a lot of time of the training ground working on routines and positioning on the pitch, be that with the ball or without. The way some people on here go on you’d think they just have the odd game of 5 a side and practice some corner routines.

Riley I don’t think anyone is suggesting that. Dyche himself regularly refers to how the clubs is focused on the basics of the game.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:42 pmI know that they will spend time meticulously studying and preparing for the opposition. His success is not based around some miraculous tactics. It’s 442 where everyone is pulling in the same direction and giving 100% every game.
Cornet is a champions league calibre player. if he can’t go straight into our starting eleven or even come of the bench, it would suggest he is not the calibre of player we think he is.
Let’s be honest we all know the reason he isn’t playing is purely down to loyalty. I have no problem with that as I think it develops respect for the starting role. But why not just say that

No one seems to have mentioned SDs interview on the club website.
Contrary to popular belief, the club have been eyeing Cornet for a long time, and have had to put in all the due diligence they could, to make sure Max would fit into the club mentality. So he officially wasn't bought without Sean's approval.
