It’s an odd one this

On one hand, I’ve been on a few non league grounds and have enjoyed standing there watching the game whilst drinking a pint, however I’m not sure I’d want to be sat next to somebody who constantly downing pints with the potential of being covered in it whenever a goal gets scored

I’m guessing those talking of being covered in drink when we score don’t remember the plastic ‘glasses’, they were left over from it’s a knockout… no one ever got back to their seats without having just a mouthful left in the bottom; but that didn’t stop people getting ‘rounds’ in just to make sure Everyone got drenched.

Never going to win over everybody, will be very much split. Can imagine there being safety issues with it being spilt/ thrown. Also would they sell in CFS? Would need something different for the upper tiers, more smaller kiosks just selling bottles, to readjust the flow of people.

One of the most annoying things about going to rugby is the constant stream of people going to the bar and going to the toilet. I wouldn't want that replicated at football.

I just think it’s sensible to leave a longer period of time where alcohol isn’t accessible in order for people to sober up especially when it’s likely that some of these people could be motorists, if people want to drink & drive it will happen anyway but it’s not something that should be encouraged or made easier to do.

It’s strange - but having stood in the Longside for years with a wobbly pint, and sat in the CFS with a few pints on the go, I never really saw beer thrown. Spilled - maybe. But you still tried to save your pint. Walking into the Longside with 3 or more pints should have been a round in “Its a Knockout”.

Re the drinks topic, consideration should be given to the danger of people having Bene n Hot spilt on them, from people sat behind them. Maybe it's unlikely, but the danger of burning someone is there. So I'm against it.

I'm usually nursing a hangover - especially the early games. A beer would be welcomed in such situations.

But as per, some nobheads will end up throwing beer all over every now and again and ruin it for everyone.

As the worlds biggest drinker, even I would probably say "no" to it, though it would be very nice to sit with a pint every now and again if people could behave.

Crack down hard on troublemakers. Carrot and stick.

It will take years to change the culture but it has to start somewhere and will make matches more pleasant in the end. If I drive with family for 4 hours on a matchday and arrive at 2:45 I’d love to have a drink of top quality (please) ale in my seat - then get the other half to drive home

TBF, my experience of the drink on the Turf is generally Bene n tepid, which somewhat ruins the experience

Serving beer in bottles rather than cups and restricting sales to pre-kick off and half time would alleviate most people’s issues which appears to be spilt beer and nuisance caused from bar goers.

I’m really not that bothered. I have a few beers during half time over a season, but it would be nice to be treated like adults and have the option to have one whilst watching the game.

Unless you're at the front of the queue, it can be a good few minutes before you get served, and there's no way I'm going to drink / enjoy a pint in less than 10 minutes. 30 minutes would be more my norm, but maybe I'm unusual in that respect.

It’s not unusual if I was to drink alcohol very quickly I’d need a lansoprazole after, I don’t think alcohol consumption should be time sensitive it should be in a relaxed setting.

I’ve not had a drink for many years now but when I did have a skinful before a game I found I couldn’t really follow it properly. Of course, I knew the score, enjoyed the goals etc but I couldn’t really watch the game develop.
Maybe I’m just getting old and boring but it was like trying to read a book or watch a film whilst p***ed. Never as enjoyable.

You say this but I attended a Serie A game back in 2016 and I went to the bar, brought the drink to my seat and enjoyed the game from my seat with the beer which made it more enjoyable for me. I like a drink but never get one at half time because downing it in 10 mins just isn't enjoyable.

Do the queues for the bar at away grounds tend to move quicker than they do at the Turf? I know the 'system' we have can often be painfully slow but I'm not sure if it's much better elsewhere
