Who isn't selling their shares?
Ive got 3 from over 30 years ago. Im not selling.
Im not questioning why people are selling just interested in who isn't.
Reading the other thread i am obviously in the minority.

Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
Me.
Sadly, I cannot get the club to acknowledge that I hold a share (long story), so they don’t know (let alone care) that I’m not selling.

Worth keeping. They’ll be a lot more value after we win the champions league.

Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
I emailed them to say I wanted to but as yet haven’t received the letter with the acceptance form. The original letter said it would be posted on 27th. Has anyone had theirs yet?

Not selling my 33. I know I may have thrown away £20k (50% minus CGT) and a large number of replica shirts in the bin but hey ho!
Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
Not sold mine. Waiting for first auction to see what happens!

I retained mine for some reason that may become clear one day?

I am keeping my 3
Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
My understanding is that there would be around 95 shareholders who'd have 17k or more in credit at the club shop. I can only imagine that most of those haven't sold.
Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
Had my offer email to buy this morning but I am having second thoughts, what's money compared to history ?

Not selling. Not entirely sure why, because I'm not sure the share means anything in terms of influence etc. But I think its probably because I want to believe that if some proper fans have shares, then the club will never be take away completely, no matter what. Although I accept that's probably pie in the sky thinking

I completely get that feeling, personally I’d take it but if you aren’t needing the money then go with your gut!Roosterbooster wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 10:39 amNot selling. Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
I have replied that I will sell but I am seriously thinking of changing my mind.
I have had the shares for about 50 years and they were in the family before that so they have a sentimental value.
Do I need the cash - No
Do I want to pay capital gains tax on part of it- No
Do I need a season ticket for free until I am over 100! - No
Would I have sold if I could have kept 1, probably.
Think I will go with the heart and keep them.

Me and my Dad - we've got one each. I guess we're keeping them for mainly sentimental reasons.

Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
Hi levrai, are you saying you own 35 shares, hence £30,000 cash and the same again in "club credit?"levraiclaret wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 9:10 pmnot selling my shares bc I don't want 30k cash 30K credit note and a 24k CGT bill.
Would it make any difference to you if your CGT obligation was less than £10,000?
Maybe you aren't tax resident in UK. For UK taxpayers, there is a CGT allowance of £12,300. And CGT rates are 10% for basic rate taxpayers and 20% if you are higher rate taxpayer. (Higher rates apply to residential property, e.g. 2nd homes).
So, £60,000 less £12,300 = £47,700. 20% CGT is £9,540.
Have I saved you £14,000?
Good luck.

My single share will remain mine.
Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
Maybe now is the time to establish some sort of independent shareholders group? I know we would have no power as such but maybe our opinion as a group might find the board at least listening to our views as fans.

Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
Me. I’ve reasoned that when I bought it I did it for sentimental reasons not to make money and I’m lucky enough not to really need the cash. However can totally understand for many people it’s too good an offer to turn down.

Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
Thanks Paul however my CGT allowance is already spoken for this year.Paul Waine wrote: ↑Thu Nov 04, 2021 11:14 pmHi levrai, are you saying you own 35 shares, hence £30,000 cash and the same again in "club credit?"

Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
OK. So, no CGT allowance. Add back 20% of £12,300 = £2,460 and your total CGT obligation (for BFC shares) would be £12,000 - and not the £24,000 you've indicated.levraiclaret wrote: ↑Sat Nov 06, 2021 12:51 pmThanks Paul however my CGT allowance is already spoken for this year.
Or, has the latest budget equalised income tax and CGT rates?
Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
Me!
I just have the one obtained after the promotion season under Coyle.
Just couldn't bring myself to part with it, I like the idea of being a co owner in our Premier League Club!

Re: Who isn't selling their shares?
Me, although I would possibly consider selling 2 and keeping the other 8.
