Factoring in the level of opposition seems pretty obvious if you understand football.
So if someone plays poor against Norwich they get a 4 but if they play to that same level against Chelsea they get a 7/8

It's why I don't do ratings but come on, out of interest, to see the wide variances in markings dependant purely upon results

Perhaps Dyche thought he couldn't "Bank" on support for Barkley πŸ€”

Not been but will do the ratings once I've seen the rerun on Sky
A genuine question.

Do you mean although Sky didn't broadcast the game live in this Country subscribers have a facility to watch the whole game?

Im seeing McNeil getting 9s and he put the ball out of play twice with a simple 15 yard pass.

Suppose it's the +2 just because he's "one of our own" ( not really but let's pretend ) sadly if that's all he has to do for a 9 from some, he will never get better here I'm afraid

9 is a couple of match winning contributions at the very least, I don't think he's done that for quite a while.

Fair enough. My ratings were from watching on a stream, and maybe they'd have been slightly different had I been there, but I call it as I see it, as I'm sure you will say you do.
you call it as you see it evidently not with westwood playing a pivotal role in our goal

I didn't see enough of the game to mark but from what I saw plus highlights, Tarkowski was beaten a number of times in the air by Rudiger, Silva and Christensen, got dragged out of position by Havertz for the Hudson Odoi chance and just ambled back into position, too late to attempt a block. And I am seeing marks of 8 for him.

Nevertheless a superb team performance and could have been 3 points if Vydra had hit the target at the end as Mendy was beaten.

Pope. 9 MOM getting back to his best, after a below par(by his standards) start to the season.
Lawton. 7 Another strong performance.
Taylor. 8 lost count of the number of times he got a block in, against Reece James one of their better players
Mee. 8 captains performance
Tarks 7 solid as usual
Jbg . 6 need him to find the form he’s capable of, now he seems to be fully fit
Westwood 6 tough job for him today against as good a midfield as we’ve faced this season
Brownhill 7 tried his best against their midfield three
McNeil 8 put in a real shift defensively. tried to get it going forward, but never stopped running. Seems to be filling out and getting stronger.
Cornet 7 getting up to speed with pace of the premier league
Wood 5 didn’t get going today, snuffed out by their centre backs

J Rod 7 great assist, but why he didn’t shoot with late chance I’ll never know
Vyds 7 nicely taken goal
Agree regarding Jay, he’s the one striker I’d back to hit a worldie from there

Even if it hadn't been the game of the day, Sky show all the games in full on the following morning, except those covered by BT.

Defensively superb kept us in the game
Midfielders worked tirelessly in midfield
Cornet & Wood didn't have much service in their time up top, but having said that I thought Jay & Vydra made the difference when they came on so high score for them.

BBC gave Vyds MOM 7.6 and Wood 4.

Time Wood was dropped, as one fluke and one flashy goal in 11 games isn't good enough.

Yes, I agree, Wood is a clown. Note that Sean took him off because he was totally ineffective and the game changed in our favour.

Depends what you class as ineffective.

Wood scored more premier league goals last season than Vydra has in his entire premier league career.

Wood goes through phases where he can be ineffective but in reality he is still the best option we have. (Not including cornet)

Last season, Wood didn't score until Christmas, yet for some reason kept his place. This season he has been totally anonymous in most games. Yes, he scored a cracker against Brentford but then reverted to being ineffective again and was hopeless on Saturday against Chelsea.

If Vyds or any of our other strikers had played as many games, then maybe they would score ten or twelve a season as well? As it is, it seems Sean has finally had enough. Taking Wood off on Saturday was the first time I can remember that he was the first striker subbed. About time.

Starting line up for the Palace game will be interesting, but I hope it's Cornet and Vyds.

Is this the same Wood who had scored in our first match of the season at Leicester while also scoring home goals against Crystal Palace (our first win of the season) and against Wolves?

I know you are totally obsessive about wanting Wood out of the team while heralding Vydra as one of the world's greatest goalscorers but you would be better off getting your facts right before making such a ludicrous statement.

And if you want some facts, Wood has scored a Premier League goal for Burnley every 215 minutes he's been on the pitch, Vydra has scored one every 401 minutes he's been on the pitch.

Apart from the Leicester away game, the winner against Palace and the winner against Wolves

While it should be obvious to anyone with half a brain that wood should play as he’s got a great record, I do wonder if Vydra would get 10+ goals if he was given a good run in the side. Looks very unlikely now as cornet seems to have adopted the 2nd striker role. Unless cornet goes wide again and we go back to the Leicester lineup but I think dyche likes maxwel up top.

Shame he doesn’t fit because it probably means Vydra goes in the summer, and I’ve always thought he was a very decent player.

I understand your view, Vydra looks like he offers a lot. However in reality he flatters to deceive.

He has played 70 games in the premier league and scored 7 goals. There is nothing to back the view that he would get anywhere near 10 goals in a season in this league.

He has actually only ever scored more than 10 goals in a season twice in his entire career. Both in the championship.

OK, I got that wrong, but three goals up to Christmas is hardly Earth shattering form. As for Vyds, don't put words in my mouth. I've never said he was the worl's greatest scorer, so I suggest it's YOU that's making a ludicrous statement. So put your own house in order before criticising others.

That's mainly because he usually gets only a few minutes in a game to impress. Usually when we are sitting back and defending late in a game. If he got as many 90 min games as Wood, you would see a very different player.

Agreed it is hardly earth shattering 3 by Xmas, Vydra's best ever season in the Prem is 3 - what would you call that.

Wood ended last season with 12 goals in the Prem, Vydra has 10 Prem goals in his whole career.

You are not very good at posting on football message boards, are you gordaleman. Can i suggest you think before you start vilifying Wood like a broken record.

You continue to berate Wood who, undoubtedly, is our best striker. Now, it seems, you want us to start with Wood and Vydra up front. I suspect you'd rather play with ten men than have Wood on the pitch. Yes, you did get it wrong, but you get a lot of things wrong just to have a go at Wood.
