He doesn't do tap-ins does he?
Re: Cornets Volley
Yep absolutely agree with this. Dyche seems quite reluctant to use McNeil in that position though.claretspice wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 9:18 pmA wonderful goal - as others have said, reminiscent of Blake's, except bettee because the angle was narrower and the ball was coming across him. He's an extraordinary talent with charisma to burn.
But - for me, hes not a centre forward and I'm not sure it will ever get the best from him. His goal today, and most of his others so far, came when he held wide and attacked from out to in. He looks most comfortable making those runs and running onto the ball, not playing with his back to goal and coming towards it. His effort was again beyond question but he looked lost at times today (as he did at times even against Brentford) and as a result at times that uncertainty made it look like we were a man short.
I know why Dyche wants him to play there, but I cant help but think that the sooner we use him.from the left, and let McNeil add some craft to our midfield, the more balanced a team we will look.

Re: Cornets Volley
Not his best game, probably his worst for us but he has the ability to do that. The technique was sublime. He did a fair bit of good defensive work today but as has been said above, needs better service. I can see him getting the match ball one day soon after hitting a hat trick.
Positioning and learning our system still needs a bit of work for me but I was surprised how good Palace were.

Re: Cornets Volley
The counter balance to that is that we've only lost one in seven
I'd like us to try what Spice has said though

Fantastic strike! and dare I say, better than Robbie’s as I think it was a lot narrower angle. This guy is special and somebody at the club deserves massive credit for identifying him and securing his signature. Can’t see him being here long term, as he’ll surely be prised away from us by one of big boys. But we should enjoy his talents while he’s with us!

Re: Cornets Volley
Someone said on Lancashire sport tonight that if the goalkeeper had got behind it he would have wound up in the net with the ball. Another quoted someone from weekend saying if there’d been three goalkeepers it would have still gone in. Gentlemen we have something very special here and if we can bring in a couple of players with half his quality in January we will be looking at some very good times.

Although I now take my 10 year old son to t'Turf, I had a season ticket at Chelsea in my former (born) down south life. I have seen many special goals in the flesh, so to speak (Gudjohnsen overhead v Leeds, Zola back heel volley v Norwich, Crespo v Wigan, to name but a few) but Cornet's was equally as special and one I will never forget. He really is something special and I hope we can keep hold of him.

Re: Cornets Volley
in the short time he has been a claret he has displayed phenomenal talent. if only the rest of the team were similarly talented we would be champions league contenders.
he has entered our arena when the going is bad. But he may prove to be our salvation.

Re: Cornets Volley
I have never known a player become a legend so soon, there is genuine excitement when he gets the ball. Two midfielders of his quality and wecwill rocket up the league.

Just think how many poor souls missed it with not getting back to their seat, from their half time pint.

Re: Cornets Volley
In response to Spice saying he looks lost at times up front.
He will do, he has spent most of his recent time playing left back. Our striker who drops back into midfield to help always looks lost to me but I presume they are told to stop angled passes rather than get stuck in?
Quite simply why he has to stay where he is for now is he's the only player we have who can shoot, who watches the ball right onto his foot and has confidence.

Why we keep persisting with our current set up is mind boggling
Re: Cornets Volley
It's a pity that, as great a strike as it was, the goals from Sterling and Rodri against Everton will be above it in the next MOTD goal of the month winners
What's the chance of getting Cornet to be accepted for British nationality before the end of the year and denounce his country of birth - he is going to be sorely missed during Jan/Feb
