Conor Gallagher
Fair result today. enjoyed the game. however i thought this lad especially first half was superb. i think England have a very special player on their hands. strong, good on the ball, always picked the right pass and never stops running.

Re: Conor Gallagher
Was raving about him whilst he was at WBA but several on here said he was not an improvement on what we had. Wish I could remember who our "expert" was

He'll be a bit behind the likes of Bellingham and Rice.pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 6:16 pmFair result today. enjoyed the game. however i thought this lad especially first half was superb. i think England have a very special player on their hands. strong, good on the ball, always picked the right pass and never stops running.

Re: Conor Gallagher
First half he was excellent. Many folk on here said we should be having a look at him over a season ago though.

He reminds me of Westy and Brownhilly in some ways.

Re: Conor Gallagher
He was ridiculously good that first half
Nowhere near effective in the 2nd half, but you can see the lack of squad depth that Palace have that he was replaced by Jeffrey Schlupp, who is nowhere near the player that Gallagher is

Re: Conor Gallagher
I was reading the matchday thread on here and it was made out like their second goal was really soft and bad defending, but how Gallagher set up the second was really pretty good.
Re: Conor Gallagher
He caused us all manner of problems in the first half. The way Palace set up to play out from the back was very clever and Gallagher was always the free man in the middle or out wide to create a 2v1 against Taylor as McNeil was pressing very high up the pitch.
We could certainly do with someone like that in January.

Re: Conor Gallagher
He was fantastic in the first half, we did a great job of nullifying him in the second half.
Re: Conor Gallagher
Exactly the sort of midfielder we needed in the summer and many said it, infact, many said we should've been targeting Gallagher. No idea why we didn't sign a central midfielder?
Re: Conor Gallagher
He had a similar sort of game for England u21's on the Turf. He ran the game in the 1st half but then slowly disappeared in the 2nd half.
I do like him though, he always appears to have plenty of time on the ball. Good footballing brain.

People said the exact opposite & when it later emerges how daft it was to say that the people that said it discover amnesia & pretend it wasn't said instead of just retracting & being honest.

He is exactly the type of player we need.
Levels above our CMs.
There were a lot of posters that said he was no better than we had in the summer.

Re: Conor Gallagher
He's the new Jack Grealish!
Re: Conor Gallagher
He's a good player no doubt, but to say England have a very special player on their hands is way off.pushpinpussy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 6:16 pmFair result today. enjoyed the game. however i thought this lad especially first half was superb. i think England have a very special player on their hands. strong, good on the ball, always picked the right pass and never stops running.
He's miles off others in terms of ability.
Re: Conor Gallagher
Dont think he is quite good enough for the top, top level but he would be absolutely fantastic for us.

Re: Conor Gallagher
Don't Chelsea normally have about 40 players out on loan each season?warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 6:35 pmChelsea have done incredibly well on how they have managed players, and got them out on loan to gain experience-Mount, James, Gallagher, Tomori, just a few
They normally have to send players out on loan as they can't have them all in the squad!
But yeah, I agree, it definitely gives vital experience to youngsters as has been seen in the development of some key players in the Prem across the years.

Re: Conor Gallagher
If he's so far off currently in terms of ability I'd love to hear about all these midfielders who are currently doing so much better than him because I can't think of that many & the odd 1s I can think of are surrounded by better midfielders than kouyate & milojevic.

Re: Conor Gallagher
I believe Ryan Christie to be a midfielder.
Happy for us to disagree on this.

Re: Conor Gallagher
Well you responded to my post about not signing a central midfielder, clearly Dyche likes to play a 2, Christie has never played that role, he'd be more of a wide player than a CM in a 2, often played on the left for Celtic. Bournemouth played today, Lerma, Lewis Cook, Christie and Billing all started, that suggests to me he's playing wide for them. He also wears the number 10 shirt.
Re: Conor Gallagher
Christie is indeed playing right midfield for them.
