He has made plenty of racist tweets/comments over the years and should have been removed ages ago

Not the first time he’s been dropped.
Re: Vaughan dropped by BBC
Seemingly as good a man as he is a pundit. No great loss at all.

Based on his punditry it's a sound decision. Nobody needs the "new Boycott" he was trying to set himself up as.

Think he's a good pundit but he's got questions to answer
Been said before and shouldn't really need explaining, but him going would be the story, and that isn't the point of a pundit

Oh yes but who will the BBC replace him with? The woman on now has a grating voice.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 1:32 pmBased on his punditry it's a sound decision. Nobody needs the "new Boycott" he was trying to set himself up as.

Re: Vaughan dropped by BBC
It was inevitable. He won’t be the last. I have not followed this too closely as I am not really a cricket fan but with the BBC seeing its role as human rights and equality champions; even the sniff that Vaughan was involved would have been enough for the BBC to put distance between them.
Re: Vaughan dropped by BBC
He's not a favourite of mine I have to say. I'm wondering though why he has hired a very high quality and costly company of solicitors to represent him. Maybe hes going to mount a counter claim and maybe he could win a lot of money in damages. Quite funny if he takes on the BBC and wins.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 1:39 pmHopefully it will be a black woman. Ideally a lesbian.
Re: Vaughan dropped by BBC
Yes and they may incur costs. Of course, as in the Cliff Richard case, its not their money so doesn't hurt and there are never any repercussions.elwaclaret wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 1:42 pmIt was inevitable. He won’t be the last. Probably he is and that will be why he's hired this top Law firm to represent him. To somehow clear his name and maybe get a payout.

Re: Vaughan dropped by BBC
Well if he's denying it then he has answered.
If there are more questions, they need to be stated.
If he's breached some rule or done something wrong then the BBC are within their rights to drop him.
If he's done nothing wrong and breached no rules then it is morally wrong of the BBC to sack him on the basis of accusations. And against the law.
It's rather simple, any action the BBC takes needs to be undertaken on the basis of some kind of investigation.

Society, as a whole appears to be driven by allegations being made and individuals proving they're innocent rather than being presumed innocent and then being found guilty (or not).
It really is worrying......

Has he been sacked? Unless you know the terms of his contract with the BBC then you can’t say that they are acting morally wrong or illegally.Rowls wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 2:19 pmWell if he's denying it then he has answered.

I doubt he's even an employee, more likely to be self-employed. It may well be that they can choose not to use him.
Re: Vaughan dropped by BBC
Vaughan denies everything (not saying true or false) and gets dropped

You need to write to the BBC, and ask them why they have dropped him for "editorial reasons" RowlsRowls wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 2:19 pmWell if he's denying it then he has answered.

Failing that, the letters page of the Daily Telegraph or the Daily Mail will always print stuff that has a go at the BBC
I like him as a pundit, and its a shame he's not going to be there, but he's become the story and that will detract from the job he's there for.
Re: Vaughan dropped by BBC
Well he doesn't work for the BBC. He works for an orgaization that has to EARN its money, umlike the Tax the BBC receives through extorsion of the populstion of this country.

Re: Vaughan dropped by BBC
The BBC gets a lot of s**t, some of it justified, but its still one of the most watched and the most trusted news channels out there
Be careful what you wish for

The BBC have long since lost the moral high ground for anything.

Regarding the BBC, I'm not sure there is another organisation in the world that can get this sort of interview with the President of Belarus
Remarkable

The Daily Telegraph is all over the story (even more than the BBC) and looks to have the aim of completely undermining English cricket. In the dozen or so stories on their cricket section, they have:Lancasterclaret wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 2:40 pmYou need to write to the BBC, and ask them why they have dropped him for "editorial reasons" Rowls

"England team's silence on Azeem Rafiq is deafening."
"Alistair Cooke condemned over cricket's racism scandal silence"
"Azeem Rafiq's claim does not undermine his claim that cricket is racist..."
"Alex Hales pictured in blackface as English cricket's racism crisis deepens"
"Azeem Rafiq urged to assist enquiry into claim he was forced to drink wine.."
"What now for the game of cricket after racism scandal touched every player in the country"
They also have a couple of articles re the Tom Paine issue and a couple pointing out Rafiq's anti-Semitism tweet and that he has been accused of sending "creepy messages" to a young teenaged girl.
There's been chuff all about any actual cricket on there for about a week now (Bangladesh v Pakistan, India v NZ T20 internationals; Sri Lanka v WI test match)
