Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I’d have preferred to sell Tarkowski. His head is the clouds most games. Wood has been off form but he gets crap service. He will bang them in for Newcastle. Madness selling your best proven striker at this level to a relegation rival when we score so few goals. The team sheet looks poorer by the week. Hopefully Leicester match is off because the potential starting eleven doesn’t fill me with excitement.

Surely we bring someone in before the must win home game to Watford. Not holding my breath.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Any striker brought in now won't make his debut till March anyway.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
We are all aware of that, but the fact your rival for your place in this league has just swiped your main striker is nothing less than laughable...CSMVegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 6:58 pmit's a release clause - we had ZERO say in the matter after it was put in place.

Reverse it would you be happy signing a forward for 20+ million that's scored 3 goals in his last 20 league games

I think I'm past caring. The only thing worse than not signing anyone is not signing anyone and selling our only decent striker (even if her has been crap recently) As much as I like Vydra he doesn't score goals, our only goal scorer is in Africa for the next few weeks. I'm not convinced we will sign anyone decent this window and if we do the damage will already have been done by the last day of the windoww.

Woods contract was up in Summer 2023 and at the age of 31.
Skysports News are reporting that he had a £20m release clause only valid in the Summer months, It’s now reported that Newcastle have paid £25m for Woodys services because the 20m clause wasn’t valid in Jan, Hence the extra £5m
For me it’s great business, I wasn’t his biggest fan but thank you Chris for all your efforts as a Claret ……
Who want’s Divock Origi ?

Stats for Chris Wood in the PL this season so far are 3 goals scored and ZERO Assists.
So much for all the talk of being a foil for Cornet and setting up chances.
£25 million KERR CHING.

I think Tarkowski might be the next to leave for a fee, now that would be a decent bit of buisness as we have a suitable replacement in Collins
Writing is on the wall and it spells relegation and it sounds to me that Pace isn't taking any risk so that we have a fighting fund for a promotion push next season. To throw money at players in January would be ridiculous when we don't have the funds to compete with the likes of Newcastle and most others at this level

Imagine being richest club in the world and buying Chris Wood.
Hes been good for us but c'mon.
They are literally paying 25m to attempt to put us down. He will be surplus next Yr, not that he'll be bothered then with massive wages.
It would be quite something if they still go down

31 pages and we still haven't heard of any signings or even whispers of interest anywhere.
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
Sky reporter said we are looking at two strikers overseas and we are targeting pace. Nixon just said Fulgini might be one of the two foreigners although initially he reckons we wanted him on loan, which may have now changed.CnBtruntru wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 9:32 pm31 pages and we still haven't heard of any signings or even whispers of interest anywhere.

If that Crouch tweet is genuine then I think we should at least ask the question. Indeed, even if it's not.
Blimey. Wood may have been having an awful season but even so he offered the possibility of a goal at least. If we do go down let's hope it's at least been confirmed before the Newcastle game is played because he's bound to score against us. It would be gutting if he relegated us - and effectively twice in one season (through his form whilst for us, and his form whilst with our rivals!)

Chris Wood will have had to play a whole host of World Cup Qualification matches for NZ before then, all condensed into a short space of time, so no guarantees he won't get clattered and injured representing his country.BobSykes wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 9:44 pmIf that Crouch tweet is genuine then I think we should at least ask the question. If we've got 25m for Wood at this point it is remarkably good business. We will surely replace him and allows us that little bit more wriggle room for signings. However if we somehow manage not to replace him then the proverbial will hit the fan. I have faith after the summer window. We certainly need a change up.

Absolutely NOT. The exact opposite of the type of signing we need to be making.

Gray absolutely not.
A “Gray” type player, good movement, pace and a good finisher with a better first touch than Gray, around 23-27 yrs old absolutely yes.
Crying out for pace in attack so we can stretch teams.

The way Dyche likes to set us up we need someone who can hold up the ball and bring others into play. There's some farfetched target men who we could only dream of signing but realistically players like Mitrovic, Solanke or Dykes would join us.
We could also plan on going with 1 striker and bringing in a midfielder instead. Maybe a winger.

Ludovic Ajorque. 6ft 6, 2nd top scorer in Ligue 1 with 10 goals (and 6 assists), playing for Strasbourg so won’t be on big wages. Would be worth a punt as a direct replacement for Wood.

As well as looking at replacing Wood, we must not lose sight of the fact that CM needs a huge boost and at least one, but preferably two starters were urgently clearly required before Wood went and they still are.

Nixon believes we will go in for Fulgini on a permanent deal now we have extra cash..a striker like Ajorque would fit the bill.
CM will be a loan I believe, Barkley or similar.
Maybe 1 other on loan too.
4 in with hopefully Roberts given more game time and Cornet to return might be the boost we need.
Personally believe we are odds on to go down but never say never!
