No guarantee that either will sign but there is nothing to worry about. Some way up the thread I referred to how long it now takes to get work permits following the changes brought about by Brexit.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 1:21 pmJust logged on and seen this suggested line up, may I remind you they've still not signed and it's quite worrying it's taking this long without really moving forward with the deals, hope their still on, c'mon pace and co

Yes, but think it’s most likely to be Dwight and orsic wide to do the tracking back, as cornets (excellent) movement in behind means he can get caught too high up. Either that or we switch it up from the two banks of 4 and Dwight drops from there with a more fluid set up.
There’s certainly goals on that side - wins the championship with a record points tally if we keep everyone as well.

On the subject of Wout Weghorst, he looks a bit ungainly as a player not elegant at all.
One thing I can tell you he is a 100% trier and gives everything in the matches I have seen him play in.
I believe he will give his all if he comes here and I think he would definately fit the Dyche framework.
Just hope he can cut it in the Premier. He can also be a thorn in the side for any centre back and can be very physical if needs to be.
Would be nice to see him in Claret and Blue

This may have been posted already but it's hard to keep up. It's a video from Bundesliga's YouTube channel which analyses Weghorst's playing style. You can see from this why we'd want him. He certainly suits us well with his willingness to close down opponents and challenge for the ball. Good at tackling for a striker. Described as a "fox in the box" he shows intelligent movement and positioning and makes the most of his chances.

Ungainly and not elegant. You DO remember Chris Wood don’t you? And ash Barnes?. And Sam vokes?. And Charlie Austin?. None of them could be described as elegant, and pretty much all of them were ungainly in some fashion. All have been effective tho, so I would imagine Wout would be no different in that regard.tally wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 1:42 pmOn the subject of Wout Weghorst, he looks a bit ungainly as a player not elegant at all.

We don't half drag stuff out don't we. Chris Wood is busy shopping in Aldi, gets a phone call out of the blue and he's a Newcastle player before her reaches Till No 2!! We've been at this a month now and we've still not got them "over the line"!! Get on with it for goodness sake, so I can relax with a Friday beer!!!

Weghorst reminds me of Crouch but when Crouch was good. In fact Weghorst looks better from what I’ve seen.

Well someone, but it is a specialist sitting cm role in most teams. Ideally someone new, but of those players we have now it suits Cork best if he is the 1 in a 4141.
Assuming we sign the 2 we are currently linked with, I would however, prefer 343. I have done it for when Tarky as gone because I don't want to leave Dwight or Orsic out of the starting 11.
Pope
Collins Mee Taylor
Roberts Westwood Brownhill Dwight
Cornet WW Orsic
Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
To be honest, I think that your right the two signings will be (together) on more than Wood's wage. However for me I couldn't attribute money out of the Wood deal making up this shortfall when realistically wages have been freed up over the past few seasons without replacements coming in or in the case of Stephens I'd suggest he's probably on a smaller wage than Hendrick was. The money for the wages should already have been around.Gordaleman wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 12:21 pmNot sure how you know what we are going to be paying either player to be honest, but whatever it is, it will I'm pretty sure that it will total more than Wood's wage.
My original point was that however much we have left from the Wood deal, it doesn't mean we have it going spare.
What I do know for certain, is that it looks as though the squad will be much improved if both are are good as suggested, so it will be a net gain.
With the fact we were actively looking for players before the Wood sale, with links like Fofana, Fulgani (supposedly money already agreed) I'd suggest we are paying less in wages with the two new additions rather than keeping Wood and a Fulgani or Fofana.
That says to me we should still have some money left over.
One of Ramsey, Fofana (can't see this one now) Lingard, Barkley and this will have been a dream window. Without getting a CM it's still been a great window but just doesn't feel enough.

What I like about that line up, is that it might surprise a few teams when we play them. We might finally put a stop to other managers and players saying, "You know what you get with Burnley."summitclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 2:22 pmWell someone, but it is a specialist sitting cm role in most teams. To be fair he's 6'6", the only elegant player of that size I've ever seen is Ibrahimovic who is still an inch shorter. Weghorst is certainly better with his feet than Wood from everything I've seen. He was considered Kane's potential replacement at a point and linked with Arsenal.tally wrote: ↑Fri Jan 28, 2022 1:42 pmOn the subject of Wout Weghorst, he looks a bit ungainly as a player not elegant at all.

I'm hoping I'm not over egging things especially before it's confirmed but this represents a very very exciting signing to me. His style also means his age is less of a concern we could still get 2 1/2 to 3 good years out of him.

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
New article in the Croatian media translated which reads like Dinamo don’t want to sell him to us whatsoever:
“English Premier League Burnley has taken a serious bite out of Mislav Oršić , media close to the club believe that the transfer is close to being realized and Oršić sees a player who would help them stay in the first league. From the very top of that club, they talked to Oršić, they sent a rather strong offer to Maksimir, but it seems that in that city with a little more than 70,000 inhabitants, which is located north of Manchester, they still don't have to chill champagne.
They are not interested in a stronger offer either Namely, Dinamo did not bite for that offer, which would be around ten million euros, which is not a small amount for a player who will soon be 30 years old. But this is not the amount that delighted the Maksimir box office, even less do the leaders of the Blues like that the English club would pay for it in as many installments as possible. Dinamo estimated that this is not the time to sell because Oršić is extremely important for the blue team , for the club. In addition, the Blues are fighting for the title, they are not in a situation like in previous years when they went to the winter break with a rich point advantage and they know that they will fight with Rijeka, Osijek and Hajduk for the title, which is an absolute priority for Dinamo.
So, at this moment, there will be nothing from the sale of Oršić to Burnley, in Maksimir they assure us that even if the English sent a much stronger offer, they would not agree to the sale. It is true that in the transition period, as long as it lasts, everything is possible, all sorts of reversals . In England, where the current issue is related to Oršić, the deadline is midnight on January 31, so there is not much time left, and Dinamo is obviously not interested in working with a club that is struggling to stay.”

With Orsic, hopefully it's a case of his club trying to appease the fans by making out they don't want to sell. Player then appears to force move through and club say their was nothing they could do to keep him........hopefully !!!!

I'd think that will all depend on his fitness levels and how, if given the chance, he finishes the season. We've really missed him and it would be brilliant to have the old Barnes back.

Under normal circumstances yes. We are dealing with a Balkan mentality here. Fiercely loyal kind of people. He's a Croatian playing for a Croatian club. You'd think with him doubling his wages it is a no brainer but I'm not sure in this case. I just don't think it is as cut and dried as we were previously made to believe.

Regarding Orsic, all the UK papers are reporting differently to the Croatian one
I suspect that Dinamo are trying to back out but had promised the player and accepted a bid and like has been said, are going to wait for the Sue Gray report......oh hang on, no, just trying to avoid fan ire.
