Please AP can you approach Bournemouth to see how they research, approach, qualify and move forward in signing players. I dont recall them failing with anyone this window and they have signed players linked with us, plus players who would have been an upgrade on ours. Plus did they not snatch Ryan Christie who chose them not us last window. There has to be something to learn from their experience. We are currently no threat to them and would be flattered .Maybe its as simple as the persuasiveness of Scotty Parker

Yes and don't forget the customary fax to all player agents at 10.45pm-that should yield some interest. Assuming we ordered the paper that of courseRichardsbfc wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 5:48 pmSounds like you’re edging your bets either way.

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
IMO, not signing two or three extras this window, will result in us being forced to offer contract extensions for players we may have wanted to walk away. It's a very slippery slope this, there's no way with the current contract expirys we can rebuild in the summer.

Had an incomplete thought in my reply and can't edit- If they were so at odds and Dyche is such a problem then why would Pace continue to commit to Dyche? And surely that would represent an oversight by our apparently otherwise flawless chairman in your books?jojomk1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 5:28 pmSo first of all it was Garlick's fault and now Pace
There's one common denominator over all of these transfer windows - Dyche playing his rigid tactic of 4-4-2 with long balls up to a target man and hoping for the best. Plus his allegiance to so many players who are now just not up to it - he most likely still sees Westwood and Cork adding value to the side with Stephens a reliable back up (just like Kevin Long)
As for JBG and Lennon
Thank goodness Pace took some lead with the signings of MC and WW this season - they would never have been given a thought by SD
Football has evolved but sadly our manager hasn't, and I would guess a lot of potential signings are not coming to BFC because of him and his old fashioned ways as much as anything else
Worryingly, I fear the same will happen in the summer
Football is not so simple as Person A is the problem, Person B is the saviour, if only Person C played better all would be well.
We're in this position for multiple reasons, which is why 1 signing alone won't fix it, and why tempting as it might be to scapegoat any 1 thing or person as an easy fix or hide in blind optimism, the truth is a much bigger mess. Snap decisions in a panic rarely help in those situations, quite the opposite.

As you say yourself we have signed WW and MC. The former from the Wood sale and the latter from the residue of the £50 million quid not spent buying out the club.jojomk1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 5:28 pmSo first of all it was Garlick's fault and now Pace

So, even by the logic inherent to your own post it seems that we are able to recruit quality players when we have the money but the money has not been invested in playing assets.

Think the Orsic u-turn has knocked the stuffing out of them, weghorst and Orsic would have taken serious planning, time and resources to line up which in turn certainly looks like unless things change, other areas have been deemed not as important rightly or wrongly. Just can’t see anyone coming in between now and 11pm now.

I think my sense of dissapointement is fueld by the fact that it feels like we've somehow wasted an oppertunity this window.
All the noises coming out of the club pre January were that there were some funds available to the Manager, then the massively unexpected, and unplanned bonus of the Wood money from Newcastle came along.
To me, this was amassive lifeline thrown to us by one of our nearest competitors, and we simply haven't taken it.
I'm not interested in we tried, we were unlucky, we had a deal agreed stories, I'm interested who is available to play for us on February 1st, and it sadly looks like one new player.
Take into the mix the Vydra situation, then you could argue we are actually worse off.
Can anybody else now really see the leftover net funds from the Wood sale, and whatever was avaialble pre January being pumped into the team now in the future,i think we a ll know where that money will now end up..
Just so dissapointed, it just feels like we've had a chance to get on a Titanic lifeboat, but we've decided to go back inside and listen to the band...
Anyway, bring on Watford... UTC

We can't, and we tried in this window (from what I can gather) to increase the squad size by bringing in players we needed that would improve us
One came, one turned us down, and one had a change of heart after it was all sorted
There has to be some criticism (certainly with Ramsey) but not as much as being spread, and as usual, lots of it completely over the top

Re: January 2022 Burnley Transfer Window Rumours - Links - Discussion
I fear you are correct can SD sell the club to potential new signings? Not really a high profile ex player with any clout! Just an old CB from a 4th division club! Look at lampard or Gerrard no problems influencing players to sign. No matter what club fat Sam was manager he would have 4 or 5 in no problemjojomk1 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 5:28 pmSo first of all it was Garlick's fault and now Pace

If this window was under Garlick he would be getting nowhere near the easy ride Pace is getting for this month. £13mil profit in the market with a like for like signing and the glaring gaps that Stevie Wonder could see need filling still remain. Shambles of a window.

I mentioned the fact that the Derby situation was nonsense a couple of times in this thread. No-one came back to advise further on this. My understanding of this situation was that the administrators had a legal responsibility to dispose of assets i.e including players to obtain maximum cash to offset the debts owed. If we had offered a reasonable bid it should have been accepted as long as it left Derby with enough players to fulfil fixtures. Shinnie I believe was sold to Wigan for £30k yes that right £30k/ Its a mockery.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Mon Jan 31, 2022 6:15 pmSo Rooney's claim that no player would leave Derby "100% guaranteed" was nonsense.
