Re: Burnley part company with Bee
Incredible number.
This is what they’ve reported on Bee.
As Burnley FC Women continue transitioning to a more professional level, Matt Bee will be leaving his post as first team manager.
We are grateful for Matt’s time and achievements at Burnley and wish him the best for the future.
The Club will not be commenting further at this time but will communicate additional details in due course.

Id rather they concentrated 100% on staying in the Premier League above everything else. Maybe they are, who knows.

Certainly does.
I’d imagine then that a replacement has already been identified, sounded out etc and that it’s just a case of signing a contract…

Yes that was my first instinct when I read the thread title, damn these peeps that post clickbait.burnleymik wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 10:19 pmPitch fork away. I thought they were going after Bertie...
I must confess I don't know much about the women's team beyond their results, which seem to have been somewhat mixed this season, however clearly those in charge feel it's the right time to make a change.

But as for clickbait - I could have posted ‘Burnley part company with manager’.

Re: Burnley part company with Bee
There is one name that might turn a few heads but very very unlikely to be appointed because the person has been associated with London clubs in her illustrious career.
That person is now retired and certainly no longer involved with the top mainstream of womens football management that I can see.
.. Any guesses as to whom I am alluding to?

Sky Sports would announce it as “Burnley sacking the manager”. They hardly differentiate the two sports now
The amount of times I’ve switched on Sky Sports News and they have some woman with headphones on describing a match and is taken me a while to cotton on that they are reporting on a WSL game.

Re: Burnley part company with Bee
Feel sorry for Matt Bee.
Don’t know much about his background but seemed a good bloke, achieved promotion, understood the ethos and fabric of the club and seemed to be building something slowly with the woman's team. Also see him in the alongside on match days so I assume he’s a fan. In that sense, a new role in the Academy structure might’ve been fair.
Can’t really see how we’ll beat that unless we’re willing to pay some big money for a manager. That said, does feel like a statement of intent from the new ownership. I just hope they replace him with someone materially more experienced vs their own man/woman. Some of the appointments on the business-side don’t immediately present as upgrades on their successors.

Do you have to immediately present as an upgrade on the business side or can you take your time to evaluate and finally go “Jesus. Can’t believe this has been happening “NewClaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 8:31 amFeel sorry for Matt Bee.

Re: Burnley part company with Bee
Are we going to start reporting on women's football on here now? If you are could you set up a separate forum as I'm not interested in women's football and a headline like the one here offers no clue that it is on that subject.
This mixing up of the male and female sections of sport as if they are one seems to be happening in all media and it is confusing.
I'm not against female sport, just not interested.

Not surprised really. The club are looking to push the woman’s team forward and with all due respect and admittedly knowing nothing about this chap or his coaching qualifications, he came across as an enthusiastic amateur. I’m sure the club will be looking for someone with experience at a higher level who can attract better players and push the team forward.

Re: Burnley part company with Bee
My comment wasn’t really intended as a negative against those hires, just an observation that they’ve not “gone big” in their appointments to date so it’ll be interesting to see if this is a statement replacement or just “their own man/woman”.CharlieinNewMexico wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 8:37 amDo you have to immediately present as an upgrade on the business side or can you take your time to evaluate and finally go “Jesus. As a general rule, PE houses bring in their own people eventually, which is fair enough. I partly expected some big appointments, particularly in the recruitment/scouting space, which haven’t happened (yet). My main hope is that all the new guys are driven, energised and ambitious enough to move us forward, otherwise it’s a risk to replace the experience. Certainly one where AP will need to tread very carefully.

Re: Burnley part company with Bee
Tbf, I don’t either, although I’d wager an “enthusiastic amateur” was all we could hope for when he was appointed and he’s earned the right through promotion to be given some time to build on his experience and establish himself.BLH_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 10:42 amNot surprised really. Although if they are planning investment in the womens team, maybe it’s right to do that with someone they feel can take it to the next level.

Re: Burnley part company with Bee
Always got to suspect the poorest player in the startling line up?
Although in all seriousness, nobody ever knows the full story behind these decisions.
Re: Burnley part company with Bee
This one seems logical to me.
Mr Bee has done very well to get this far, however, if the club are serious, then an upgrade is essential. This will attract a wider group of professionals.
Thank you Matt Bee.
