Dyche pre-Watford
Dyche pre-Watford
Taylor touch and go (probably means he’s out), JBG and Vydra out.
Most concerning are his comments on Weghorst/Cornet:
‘He has got a good chance of featuring, he is fit and well. Maxwel had a couple of extra days and we have to be a bit careful because he didn’t play that much when he was away’
Reading into that suggests we won’t be seeing both starting on Saturday. Hope I’m wrong.

Re: Dyche pre-Watford
Cornet has to start if fit. Rest him against United or/and Liverpool.
Re: Dyche pre-Watford
Wonder what's up with JBG. Sounds like Vyds will be having his surgery.

Vyds has had the surgery
Re: Dyche pre-Watford
you don't want to tell the opposition everything, it's not like the rest of had loads of games recently to be "match fit", I'm expecting bot to start or at a minimum feature, both have been with teams and training as an absolute minimum. So likely to be Lennon on the right, as I don't expect him to start Roberts high up on the right hand side but the long throw with WW could be a good combination we need in the box.

With our lack of numbers one of them is going to have to start upfront with Jay.

Just put them both in the 11 we can’t be messing about now if we get beat it’s going to be hard work-just take that gamble there both fit and are so critical in this team.If they are both benched I can’t see were a goal will come from.Take that gamble please

Yeah fair point. Agree he has to start alongside Weghorst - they’ll be well up for it as will the crowd to see them both.claretblue wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 2:26 pmno one’s played ‘that much’ while he’s been away!!

Who are they playing and is it on you tube
Re: Dyche pre-Watford
Right now the only result that matters is Watford. Therefore we must play our strongest team from the start. WW and MC must be raring you go even though they have only worked together for a couple of days. We will deal with the Man U and Liverpool games when we have to. It’s not 100% SOB but not far off

If not injured Dyche has to start Weghorst and Cornet. Get the crowd going! It’ll be a real let down if they’re in the bench.

Agreed. How ludicrous to fill the place and then immediately put a dampener on them when they see the team selection. Get off to a bad start and the frustrations will creep in.TheOriginalLongsider wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 3:42 pmIf not injured Dyche has to start Weghorst and Cornet. Get the crowd going! Let him start and take him off later (if possible).

Re: Dyche pre-Watford
Not a chance these two will start. Imho of course.
Taylor also out. Touch and go ALWAYS means out.
I’d be surprised if anyone who knows how Dyche operates thinks that both Max and Wout would start.

Re: Dyche pre-Watford
In normal circumstances I agree 100% but the fact is we are bottom of the league and we really need to win. I don’t think there is a precedent set for Dyche’s term in this situation. For Weghorst its one of the ‘easiest’ games possible to break his duck while Cornet has 6 goals in 10 games.

Re: Dyche pre-Watford
Maxwel may not have played much but he has been training. No reason why we wouldn't be ready to play.
I'd be amazed if he didn't start. The only reason I can see him not doing is if SD plays it ultra-cautious, keeping it tight and using subs to try to nick it. It wouldn't make for much of a spectacle but I'd take it if it was offered now.

Thought Sean Dyche was getting back to his usual self. Over the past few conferences he appear a little edgy.
As for Cornet and Weghorst - just mind games for Uncle Woy. I'm sure both of them will play some part in the game on Saturday.
It's midfield that bothers me somewhat. No Brownhill and JBG

Pathetic if they both don’t start in our biggest game of the season to be honest.
Re: Dyche pre-Watford
Watford Woy ain’t stupid. The stats clear show that Watford problems are in defense and for sure he will have tightened that up. They also have pace in attack ( not Alan) and will be looking to pick us off on the break. A draw. Is no good to us but Watford would be delighted with a point. So with our injury and suspension situation this would be my starting XI. Won’t happen of course because we will play our usual safety first 4-4-2

And let's not forget the last time a Burnley manager left his best two players on the bench for a massive game against Watford.

Given what he's said, wonder what his approach for the games is....hang on in there till the last 15mins by the sound of it.

If both don’t start it will be another painful episode of Sean Dyche sucking the life and excitement out of everything.
Tactically we need them on the field and the fan base need to see them on the field. It will give a full Turf, under lights a massive lift!
I’m a Sean Dyche critic but even I don’t think he’s that stupid that he won’t start them both.

If the thought process is to hang on in there till the last 15 minutes against Watford then we might as well just pack up and give in… he has to start with mc and ww and attack from the start…as said further up a full house that needs to see us go for this… get the crowd up from the start
Re: Dyche pre-Watford
Judging by the reaction on here and Twitter to suggestions one of them doesn’t start, it would be a real disappointment for fans.

Re: Dyche pre-Watford
If Dyche feels that the best chance of us winning the game is to start Weghorst and Cornet then he will do, to suggest otherwise is ridiculous. If however either aren’t fully fit/up to speed, or in the case of Weghorst well integrated into the group and our way of playing, then he may decide that one or both may be a better option from the bench. Obviously this will be disappointing for the fans, but he won’t be doing that to spite them.

Re: Dyche pre-Watford
If we are really serious about winning this game (and hopefully Dyche is),
Jay up front with WW, Cornet wide right - Lennon should not be starting this "must win" game
Cork and Westwood in the middle is a real worry, so we have to keep the pressure on their back line
Start the game on the front foot - no point in bringing either Cornet or WW on later - it may be too late by then

Re: Dyche pre-Watford
That’s not what I want btw, I want them both in from the off, going at em from the off like mad, like Celtic did with rangers last nite. Get amongst em, don’t give em a second on the ball. I just think neither will start. Hope to God I’m wrong, as pointed out earlier in the thread this is HUGE for us and with home advantage we should be starting our best side coming out the blocks like usain bolt on whizz.RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Feb 03, 2022 4:13 pmIn normal circumstances I agree 100% but the fact is we are bottom of the league and we really need to win. Yeah, but he wasn’t fit to start the game. I can’t imagine him pulling up with an injury 20 minutes into the game would have improved our performance either.

Re: Dyche pre-Watford
The anticipation in the crowd on Saturday will heighten with both Cornet and WW starting the game. It may give us our best chance of victory.
Stephens is my preferred choice in central midfield and I hope Jay Rod starts as I think it will give WW his best chance of a scoring start.
Lennon on the bench would not be a worry for me

In a match where Dyche needs the fans to be the twelfth man from the first minute , I think he would be making a big mistake to have both Cornet and WW on the bench from the beginning , as one poster has suggested as an option Dyche may use.

As these two are going to be weeks it wouldn’t shock me if we ended up getting Snodgrass in on a 6 month contract.
We’re well short on bodies and even though it was a while ago he’s a player Dyche has tried to sign previously.

He came across well at today's presser I thought, he didn't give anything away about team selection and nor should he at this stage of the season. I'd be surprised if Maxwel & Wout are not in the starting line up though. We need a fast start. I'd be tempted to play Stephens in midfield instead of Cork. Dennis will be a big miss for them.

To not start Max and WW would be madness.
Wout has played regular in Germany, and Max has probably played and trained more than the lads he left behind.
