I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
Horrific conditions, not condusive to football at any level.
I didn't think it was as bad as described elsewhere. Some good stuff played at times.
Peter Crouch was on for BT, and he summed up our situation.
Sean Dyche has worked miracles, and simply has not had the backing. He referred to players still here when he was playing three years ago.
I still feel we can get out of the bottom three.
Happy to see cornet back, he will soon find the required form.

Re: I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
Football is based on patterns of play, punting the ball at head height to Maxwel is laughable. Roberts and Lennon looked like they'd never seen each other before, the amount of misunderstandings all over the pitch was embarrassing - now of course, lack of games will play a large part in that so to a degree you have to give them the benefit of the doubt but there was nothing in that 90 minutes that I would describe as close to being decent.

Sorry WEC but I have to disagree. I also watched the game on tv, it was a bloody awful and to be honest we were lucky to get a point. I don’t want us to go down but it’s looking more and more inevitable. We do need a clear out though.Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 9:03 pmHorrific conditions, not condusive to football at any level.

Did you really. I thought it was bloody awful and pretty much a nadir.
Re: I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
Got to say that was hard work. We cant beat the likes of Norwich and Watford at home. That was a must win tonight, draw is no good we look a slow tired side.
championship next season i dont see who we can beat.

Some decent moments but the conditions were awful
Re: I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
We have to play over or around because we have no midfield to play through.
Conditions really didn’t help either, tbf.
I’d be tempted to play McNeil through the middle, as he has a bit more composure on the ball.
It’s been fun whilst it’s lasted, but the Championship beckons. On the plus side, all our ooc players gives us a chance to rebuild, and with Pace, I’m hopeful we will target a better sort of player then we have done.

Re: I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
my opinion from the Bob Lord Stand.
decent atmosphere.
appalling conditions. never seen anything like that for a long time
Watford looked the more dangerous side to me
i thought Stephens actually did ok.
Dwight played with his head down all game and his body language was poor.
we desperately need a central Midfielder like defour who can dictate the game
Pope looked class as did Tarks
Our full backs didn't get forward enough for a home game
Our wingers struggle beating a man and knock it backwards too much
Happy with a point in the end and we are still in the frame.
Finally the officials were very inconsistent

Re: I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
I am struggling to think of many worse performances by us at home , against equally poor fodder, in our years in the Premier League.
Tonight was a must win game (albeit in terrible conditions) and we showed a lack of any penetration, any creativity, any passion, anything. It was a horrendous performance, and judging by the people in my immediate vicinity it is not just me who thought that (about 50% of them had left by the time I stood up and shook my head at the final whistle - my standard ‘annoyed at Turf Moor’ action).

Facts are facts. We are a dreadful football team. Dyche hasnt progressed in any way, shape or form. Looks at Jose. He’s gone backwards. Dycheball isn’t going to get any prettier. We need to be ruthless and cut him lose as soon as we can or else we are sleepwalking into the championship and further

Nope, awful. We never looked like scoring. Long diagonal ball, then repeat. No plan B, still 442. Totally bored all the way through. Maxwell upfront doesn’t work he can’t play in tight spaces. Crying out for a 433/451.Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Sat Feb 05, 2022 9:03 pmHorrific conditions, not condusive to football at any level.

Disappointed in myself if I can't find a better way to spend a Saturday evening. Wet, bleak, miserable, zero entertainment and a horrendous drive over the Woodhead.
That said, I'll be over it by the morning and probably come over for the United game, like a total knobhead.

Re: I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
If the OP thinks that's a decent performance heaven help us, we faced a side 2nd bottom, who hadn't kept a clean sheet in 31 games before tonight, and who were probably minus their 2 most creative players, yet we still only managed a dour draw, and Watford had the better of the match.
Re: I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
I’m sure the OP is on a wind up mission. Either that or Alan Pace has hacked into his UTC account?

I would add I think we played Watford at the wrong time. New manager and all. They played at high tempo the whole match and with a quality they have struggled to show all season.

Re: I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
The stat I found interesting was that our pass success rate last night was 69%, which is the highest it’s been for months other than Man United away, which was at 77% as we were more careful with the ball.
Our stats are very low though compared with the teams we play. Decision making is slow, and if you add the inaccuracy in there it’s no wonder we’re not supplying our forwards with quality chances.

Re: I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
I don't think it could be called decent, but you could see in patches what we can do when we are on it, and our little runs that get us out of trouble are often based on starting with clean sheets.
Plus we are still missing players, and it was the first game for the striker, so it wasn't as terrible as some people are making out
But to be honest, normally you could see enough to suggest that we are capable of getting the odd mega win that we do, and I don't think you could claim that is coming based on that
We've got two huge and difficult games coming up, and we really need to get something from them

I think those stats might be skewed by the opposition and how they sat off us first half where we were passing it around with ease.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 9:23 amI imagine a lot of that is down to Stephens. I’ve reserved comment on Stephens because I thought he was good at times and dreadful at others. Specifically giving the ball away twice in really dangerous positions, getting left for dead by the player he was marking in very dangerous defensive positions, and passing backwards when we needed to be moving the ball forward.
He did the simple things well enough and got some timely tackles in though.

On the flip side I believe we also broke the record for the most long balls hit in a half of premier league football yesterday with 48 in the first half.

Re: I thought it was a pretty decent performance.
I thought it was a dreadful performance and if that's the best we can do we deserve to and will get relegated.
What football that was played was by Watford and if they had showed a little more quality in and around the box they would have won the game comfortably.
We know that the conditions were dreadful but the amount of times the ball was passed back was disturbing and the fact that both forwards weren't capable of holding the ball was also a worry
