Understandable dilemma but Utd are no great shapes so we could just get what we all want which is a a narrow win.

On balance I suppose I would still go, good luck anyway what ever decision you make.

With 3 kids in the car I would think Beer is not an issue, cold Tea is easily replaced by cold Bovril, it tastes marginally better!

Also, Ronaldo will probably be there.
Is Barnes expected to be fit ?

I would love to be going tonight like Jamesy, train, few beers etc. Probably smoke a joint before getting on the train. Not rushing in by car. Fascinating match given current state of the 2 clubs and just a chance of a Wout cannonball.

If you are travelling from the south or west heading to Burnley why not leave the M65 at the junction for the M66 (Bury, Manchester), then leave the bypass at Haslingden and travel through Rawtenstall and Crawshawbooth to Burnley.

This would avoid going through the Gannow Top area and traffic through Crawshawbooth over to Manchester Road is usually very light.
Just a thought.

Back in 2005 we played an away game at Luton and I decided that I was sick of Cotterball and I couldn't be bothered driving for hours to see another dreary game of football. That was the game we won 3-2 when Spicer went in goal.

I have to say, if you are asking yourself that question then you need to refrain from
going until you get your appetite/mojo back. If it turns out to be as poor as Saturday
it will only eat away at you.

Best sit back, stay away and enjoy something a little less stressful for the time being.

Good luck in rekindling your enthusiasm.

a chance to see Ronaldo, one of the best to ever play the sport, playing at Burnley in a league game under the lights. If that's the only reason it's still worth it

Your decision of course but depending on how old the children are it’s going to be a late night for them and presumably they have School tomorrow, plus it’s on tv if you have BT Sport.

You seem to have taken quite a sensible approach to assessing you and your family's situation regarding tonights match and If I was you I wouldn't bother going on and would recommend you make that decision too.
Why am I not surprised at your response!

I am sat here pondering if it is really worth the 4 hr round trip tonight. I have a season ticket and 3 kids in tow. They wanted to leave the game early on Saturday and are not too eager about tonight. The late night and lack of enthusiasm are pushing me close to not bothering. Here are the cumulative issues that are affecting my decision:

Queues to get in
Gannow Top Roundabout jams
Ticket access issues
Unclear signage
Poor kiosk service
Lighting outside the ground
Cold tea
Slow beer
The wind
The rain
The poor football
Wet seats
Wet feet and legs
The poor atmosphere
The lack of warm water in the loos
Season ticket renewal issues
So few goals at home
So fee wins all year

So, why the hell should I bother tonight and in turn encourage kids to?
You were lucky!

To cut to the heart of the matter, if the quality of football wasn't so **** all the other issues listed by the OP wouldn't be issues. No amount of practical 'solutions' to frustrating inconveniences and misty-eyed nonsense about being a 'proper fan' will change the fact the supporting Burnley just now is about as depressing as it's been for a long long time. I try to be realistic about what we're capable of as a squad considering our budget, but the long-ball crap I witnessed on Saturday night (it was windy etc etc etc, let's have another excuse) was downright offensive to my eyes. There was no need for it. What a rubbish way to spend an evening.

The OP if they didn't attend missed our 1st home PL goal against Utd since Robbie Blake, and I only heard it on the radio, but the atmosphere sounded superb.

Sounded a great turnaround in the second half and gives everyone a much needed lift.

And a very well done to the crowd.

Just got back home after overnight stay close to Burnley. All trains ran and on time, really spirited second half performance and cracking atmosphere. Glad I bothered making the effort. Roughly £200 lighter but money well spent. UTC
