Great to hear this chant and to see the applause Jayrod received on his substitution yesterday.

Re: He’s one of our own
Hopefully his goal earns him a good run in the team now. Every player needs that to get up to match fitness and unfortunately Jay hasn’t had that opportunity much in the last couple of seasons

People saying he is american bound next season.

Re: He’s one of our own
Would need a massive change in the relationship between Jay and a certain member of the coaching staff for him to even consider staying if offered a deal.
Re: He’s one of our own
He’s a top player and I hope he gets a run in the side. Wouldn’t blame him for heading to America though.
Re: He’s one of our own
Amazing what a difference a goal makes. Several of the people sat near me were constantly shouting so many disgusting obscenities at Jay prior to him scoring, mind you they were directing their insults to most of our players until we scored and certainly to all the united team for the rest of the game. So glad for Jay, he needed that.

Great player at his best but his goal tally suggests those days are behind him, hope he gets a contract elsewhere .

Re: He’s one of our own
I saw glimpses of a great relationship with Weghorst. The stage is set for these two to get the necessary goals to start getting us 3 points. If so he more than deserves a new contract. If he does not get on with one of our coaches that seems a bit out of character about Jay. I am assuming if true its not SD who seems to like him and speaks well of him

Who knowns? However, unless its author is more forthcoming, I wouldn't take much credence from a random remark on the internet.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 9:26 amNever heard this before, has Jay fallen out with someone?

Strange reply? You made a seemingly controversial comment without giving any substance to your claim.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 10:44 amI have elaborated, I just haven't named the other person.
Not sure I have to ask you what I post do I ?

Why bother mentioning anything if you aren’t going to spill the beans, mentioning something like that you surely knew you would be questioned about it.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 10:44 amI have elaborated, I just haven't named the other person.

Re: He’s one of our own
Had I said he won't sign and nothing else you would have a point. I mentioned it in response to the going to America comment. Someone shortly after my comment (who I don't personally know) also backs this up. This should be enough for adults without being desperate for names to be named.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 10:54 amWhy bother mentioning anything if you aren’t going to spill the beans, mentioning something like that you surely knew you would be questioned about it.

Re: He’s one of our own
Yes I think I will, i hope he doesn’t sign the goal came in handy the other night i won’t dispute that but in a return goal ratio based on appearances considering his wage, I think we could do better, saying that though in the championship he’d probably click into gear easier.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 10, 2022 10:57 amHad I said he won't sign and nothing else you would have a point. Are you expecting to make an unsubstantiated statement about Jay Rodriguez without anyone questioning that?

Re: He’s one of our own
I have heard some rumours that Jay isn’t happy at the club and had put transfer requests In but had them turned down.
Also heard that he got a bit of stick for something that happened in the Brighton game which basically had someone putting him back in his place in the dressing room from the coaching staff.
And also heard that Charlie and McNeill have had a falling out.
I dismiss most rumours but it’s hard to not acknowledge that Jay’s connections and friends in the area could have some substance to how this info has come out.
Although, I accept that it may clearly not have substance and it’s Chinese whispers so me saying anything of the above serves no purpose really because it’s all unsubstantiated and is just what it is - a rumour I have heard.
I have no doubt lots of these things happen at every club day in and out and even if it has happened- it’s hardly sensational activity when you compare to what we hear and see what other players do at other clubs.

Re: He’s one of our own
The American suggestion has legs but for his legacy in an area where he may return after his playing days are up, as both him and his wife have family here abouts then helping us stay up this season helps that and adds weight to his appeal in any prospective move.
So lets just hope he gets a run in the team and succeeds this season and lets enjoy it if so.

I think you are getting confused . The financial implications of ALK can't now be linked to rumours and hearsay about players being possibly fed up surely.

It can’t be helping, if I was working for a business/organisation that was heavily in debt at the back of my mind I’d be thinking about things my future, it’s all interconnected.

Re: He’s one of our own
I think he can work really well with WW as he’s been starved of flicks and knockdowns etc . He still has great movement and anticipation and Jay’s form may well dictate our survival . It also releases Cornet a little as well
Re: He’s one of our own
Sounds ridiculous that a Burnley, through and through, lad is suffering at the hands of a coach.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 12:57 pmWould need a massive change in the relationship between Jay and a certain member of the coaching staff for him to even consider staying if offered a deal.
Re: He’s one of our own
He’s not been overly happy with the manager for his lack of game time, either.
Re: He’s one of our own
Well to be fair last season wasn't one of his best. I'm a big fan of Jay but his form was really poor for a large part.
Let's hope he now gets more of a run in the side and maybe gets some crucial goals.
Re: He’s one of our own
Few words about Jay in the new presser @ 10 minute mark.

Re: He’s one of our own
Definitely signs that Jay/WW can form a useful partnership, and the goal was well crafted and finished.
Let's be honest Wood would never have created that chance for Jay would he, and that immediately sets Weghorst apart, he can create something out of nothing.
Although whether Jay is deserving of a new contract I have my doubts especially at his age, it might depend what league we're competing in next year.
