Both penalty decisions were correct for me.
Lousy, brain dead defending.

Absolutely shambolic half, way on top and 1-0 up then Westwood gives away a needless pen, what the **** was he doing? why did he stop running? just let the Everton kid nip in, so slow.
We've hoofed it all half, neither striker has chance of affecting the game at all, just so poor.

They're both penalties. Both went down easy but clear contact is there, we can't complain.

Re: Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Z Cars
Well it’s been a complete shambles since conceding the equaliser from the first penalty. Confidence visibly drained from every player.
The front two are asleep , and the two aged midfielders simply couldn’t get the right side of runners in our box.
How to cock upset a great start in one easy lesson.
These players owe us a massive performance this half and at this moment in time no one knows where the answer will come from. The bench?

He will. Pace and Co have been happy with what they are seeing which is why they have taken no action so far. It’s too late to do anything and who would come in now. They’ve resigned themselves to putting up with this tripe until next season. Don’t see the identity of this team now. I can’t think of one positive attribute it has.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Z Cars
Second pen was stonewall and anybody saying different is kidding themselves. Absolute dross served up yet again. Aimless balls hoofed forward time and again and making Everton look like Man City in possession. Dead men walking.

Both penalties for me. I’d be furious if either hadn’t been given for us. The lack of composure in our midfield is frightening. Brownhill in particular has been utterly woeful.

Scoreline is a fair reflection of the first half but as the first 10 and last 5 mins showed Everton are nervous and all over the place at the back.
A good second half performance and we easily have two goals in us but we cant afford anymore slip ups at the back. As for the pens, they were both clear fouls and you could tell at the time both Westwood and Lennon knew they'd f*cked up

First one is a clear penalty.Conroysleftfoot wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:13 pmDon't think we can complain about either pen. Just poor defending.
Mike Dean called the second one perfectly. He was perfectly placed and saw it in real time.
It's a dive. He contrives "contact" and dives. It's disgusting.
It only looks like a foul if you watch it in slow motion. Because it's a dive.
The VAR should hang their heads in shame. Just think of all the correct decisions they didn't have the guts to overturn because it wasn't "clear and obvious" error and they've gone and pressurized Dean into overturning a decision he called absolutely spot on in real time.

both penalties, see Westwood's reaction for the first. He turns around and his team mates just look back at him. Lennon was unlucky but if you are playing 50 yard balls into the channels for two forwards who aren't quick then really there isn't much to say.
And also against a team who are awful and missing several key players. Can't complain if we go down.

I honestly don't see any improvement next season at a level lower. Whole thing is massively stale. I'd give someone a few games this season to see what's required next year. It's a big rebuild job.Boss Hogg wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:22 pmHe will. Pace and Co have been happy with what they are seeing which is why they have taken no action so far. That second, on the replays, was a clear dive. Dean got it right, then VAR changed his mind. Two soft penalties, but we have been the better team. The few times we got it down and played, we looked good, but still far far too many pointless balls lobbed into the channels.

Re: Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Z Cars
Boy we don't half shoot ourselves in the foot don't we, decent 15 mins, and we got an early goal, then once they got the 1st pen it's been one way traffic.
I long for the days when we could hold onto a lead, but that's fantasy right now.
Time for SD to earn his salary and get them bucked up 2nd half, Everton aren't great by any means, and we can cause them problems if we can return to the intensity of our opening spell, and not give anymore pens away.

It was good to our attacking right winger, Lenno, defending so well in the box for their second penalty: that’s what I call embracing the framework perfectly.

Why can't the coaches get our players , particularly our two full backs and Westwood to pass to feet, rather than space. Be prepared for more "lumping it up the front" this half

Shocking from Westwood to put his hands on Gordon in the box. Everton were rattled at the time , gave them the breather and goal they needed to settle - and Fromm there on in we’ve been an absolute disgrace. We deserve to go down this season , not words I ever wanted to say

Everton are the first team in Premier League history to score two penalties in the first half of an away game.
That's what the BBC are claiming, I find that hard to believe TBH.

Man Utd have loads of good players who look crap, playing in that team, in that system.jedi_master wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 8:16 pmHe’s incredibly naive and looks like a rabbit in headlights. Roberts has shown many times, especially for Wales that he is an excellent player. He looks poor because he is playing in OUR team in OUR system. Going forward we have to rebuild a new team, around players like Roberts, Cornet, Weghorst, Collins, BUT we have to get rid of the dead wood, and change the way we play, or rather the way we don't play.

Watch it, I'm doubting the bit where he kicks his left leg backwards into Westwood. Just watch his left leg
I'm doubting the bit where he falls forward when has a hand graze his shoulder.
If you think that SHOULD be a penalty, then it's not the game of football I want to see - no matter what teams are playing. It's cheating.

Re: Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Z Cars
Think this is a fair summary, Westwood got caught in a crazy position and you can't get away with scrambling behind your man in that area.
Lennon tried the "long barrier" and caught the players foot for the second.
Correct decision on both. I'm not prepared to blame referee decisions on our woes, we deserve to go down.

First was never a penalty imo. Would have liked to seen red look at monitor for that one. Never enough to take him down, ball going out, not an obvious error. Not sure his run up was legal either. Unfortunately goals change games and that’s what’s happened. Second was a pen. Unfortunate one for Lennon. We’re still in this. COYC
