Well once we shift tactics we will suddenly see how these world beating players that Dyche refused to use can win for us won't we?

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
Strange really, but if we match our points total from the previous 8 games in the next 8 then we’ve got half a chance.BabylonClaret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 11:28 amBut we have won 3 of the last 8. Don't get me wrong it's a tough ask to stay up but not impossible. Our "bottled" results is what's done for us
Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
Can't argue with this. If you're thinking that this is the end of the world, you haven't been watching for the last 18 months.Cleveleys_claret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 11:18 amHave to say totally shocked. But and a massive but, why not?
I didnt want him next year regardless what division we were in, his presser in the week saying we are no worse off than before the everton game shows how much he has lost his marbles, we are 2 games worse off you idiot.
His constant picking if westwood and inability to find a system to fit in cornet mcneil and wout has been his downfall. Pace recognises there are other systems than 4-4-2 and that Dycheball is stale
Now lets get behind whoever it is in charge on Sunday and who knows...we may now have a chance with a different plan
Hoofball + results is acceptable. Losing hoofball isn't. The football has been awful for far too long now.
The team selection at times has been baffling as is the insistence on 4-4-2.
The inability to find a system to suit Cornet & Weghorst won't have helped
Gutless displays against relegation rivals
Season ticket sales
His astronomical salary
Our wage bill
The lack of trust in youth
Our league position
and on and on and on
It's amazing that they stuck with him for so long. The timing is strange. It's a bit odd to be looking for a new manager after 10 years but nobody should be that surprised that he's been sacked given the current direction of travel of the club.
He'll go down as one of our greatest managers but the writing has been on the wall for a while.

The fact that this took the bookies totally by surprise and there had been no musings previously shows that either something else in the background has happened or that Pace and Co. have completely **** themselves at the thought of our impending relegation.
I’m going for the latter option.

Partly agree with what you are saying and I think it is a stupid decision to sack Dyche right now. However, Dyche isn’t beyond criticism looking at some of his tactical decisions throughout the season and his stubborn attritional approach to setting up his teams.

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
Sean has done a great deal for this club, but his time has passed. I have been bored stupid of Sean for the past year and I am excited to see what happenes next (good or bad). Everyone saying 8 winnable games left is correct, but given his track record since signing a long term record, I don't think we would be winning them with Sean in charge anyway. This at least shows me that ALK are prepared to not be sentimental in business, which you can't afford to be.
What I am the most sad about is the loss of Billy Mercer. Why was he classed as Seans staff? Wasn't he at the club long before Sean? He will be a massive loss to us.
My view is ALK have accepted we are going down and are now preparing for next season. They bought the club to identifyi young talent, blood them in the top flight, then sell them at profit. Sean has probably been resistent to this approach all along. The U23's will be piviitol to our success in the Championship and longer term.
Didn't we bring in somebody shortly after ALK came in whose job was succession planning? I am sure we are already a long way down the road to appointing a replacement or we wouldn't have sacked him ahead of Sunday. And no, it won't be BFS since he doesn't fit their requirements either.

Worrying that the ‘pluses’ I’ve read people put forward so far are that Vydra might now get a new contract and that we might now find a system that Weghorst (aka, John Gayle MK II) suits.

Apart from the obvious insanity of this decision, what are the financial consequences? Sean’s salary with 3 years of his contract left, plus his three assistants, this could be costing us an 8 figure sum. Surely better spent on a decent, creative, midfielder…?

Next you will be telling me that the people on here who wanted Sean Dyche out just wanted him out and never had a plan for what to do when he left
If it helps, no one will be getting a contract until we have a new manager, and there won't be massive changes to how we play, again, until we get a new manager

Incredibly stupid - It'll take a fewgames for a new manager to implement his style of play and by that point it will be game over. An unnecessary and ridiculously risky move. Especially when no replacement has even been looked at so far.

The payouts could be spread out over the duration of their most recent contracts with clauses that mean if they take a new job, the payments stop.
It may not actually cost the club massive money for this, especially if Dyche etc all walk into new jobs this summer.

As our biggest wage earner he simply had to be judged on results. We've been pretty awful for 18 months and consistently lost winnable, must-win games for too long.

I'm a massive fan of the gaffer but, he's not that stupid to understand that the points return thus far has left him vulnerable. Ok the timing isnt great but I do believe getting somebody new in now, might just save us. New manager syndrome! Those out of contract players might now just play out of their skins. I'm optimistic about the future.

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
Not read all the thread but is the timing that bad? We have won 4 all season following a poor end to the last campaign. Got to be realistic that we was heading down with Dyche anyway. If they can get who they want in then it gives someone new a chance to assess what is required for the championship.
Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
I would have preferred to see “by mutual consent” rather than “sacked” as that seems a bit disrespectful to someone who has done so well for us…however people are clinging on to the Sean Dyche of 2012-2020,the Sean Dyche of the last 2 years has been very lucky to last this long, yes the last chairman can take a chunk of the blame for not investing but as we know in football, results and performances come down to the manager and they just haven’t been good enough…as for the timing,I don’t know, maybe this IS the best chance of staying up to have a different approach because all we were doing is the same thing and expecting different results.Hopefully Mr Pace knows what he’s doing and should have expected a backlash from fans at this news…Thank you Mr Dyche for the good times

Utterly bizarre and bewildering. Even Bob Mortimer’s Roast Owl Club of English managers won’t want that job right now.
Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
The timing of this descion should not be ignored. We didn't sack him last week when we lost to Norwich, we have sacked in today, two days before the next game.
So something has changed between then and now. Either they have spoken to all the players to understand the root cause of the problem, or they have somebody lined up who has confirmed he will come.

That could be a factor, as could the contract renewals for some of the older players, it has seemed apparent for some time now that Dyche and Pace share differing visions over the future direction of the club.Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 11:58 amProbably gave pace a list of 32 year olds to spend next seasons budget on and he thought no way you’re out of here
I'm shocked but this might allow us to finally pursue a new path, and start developing youth, because as great as Sean has been for the club the past 2 years have been a slog with little excitement, and a change was needed sooner or later.

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
Some of our players cannot cope with the ball at their feet hence the reason we bypass the midfield so often. You think Dyche leaving is suddenly going to turn Westwood, Brownhill, Cork and Stephens into Iniesta, Xavi and Busquets at their prime? The saying you can't polish a turd never more relevant when our midfield is under discussion. None of them are remotely good enough to beat a man and play a ball into feet. It is either side side back and hoof or aimless lofted lob into the channels to no one in particular.Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 11:49 amWe might actually start playing some football to peoples feet too, that would be a big plus for me

Absolutely stunned.
If we stay up now it's the greatest miracle in PL history. I can't comprehend the timing or rationale. Especially to ditch the staff too. Especially Mercer- what on Earth was he sacked for? Sacked, not walked according to Twitter.
Don't even know what else to say or think. Unreal. Who on Earth would inherit this poison chalice for 8 (7 by the time we get anyone in) games?

Re: Big news coming soon from the Turf (Sean Dyche sacked)
I agree the whole midfield needs gutting and has done for some time, Cornet exceptedHerts Clarets wrote: ↑Fri Apr 15, 2022 12:07 pmSome of our players cannot cope with the ball at their feet hence the reason we bypass the midfield so often. It is either side side back and hoof or aimless lofted lob into the channels to no one in particular.
