Re: Rangnick to leave United
The whole interim approach was strange with so much of the season left and so much to play for when OGS was sacked
Rangnick was obviously never in a position to exert authority over the big name players who appeared to have far too much influence
Just feels like they have stored up even more problems for Ten Hag - not that we should care until we are back in 2023/24

Don’t you mean the year after United regain their PL status

Agree extremely strange situation, it was like telling him - your good but not what we want. How did they expect players to react to that?EarbyClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 4:13 pmThe whole interim approach was strange with so much of the season left and so much to play for when OGS was sacked

And as you say, I’ll not be as interested in the Premier tittle-tattle next season

Worked really well. Didn’t think he could make them worse than they were under OGS. Well done to him for that.

Sadly I am old enough to remember the 1970s when we were in the First Division and they were (briefly) in the second

That was the year they played York in a league game.EarbyClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 4:27 pmSadly I am old enough to remember the 1970s when we were in the First Division and they were (briefly) in the second

They could probably have dragged a bloke out of the pub to do the same job, and not done any worse.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 4:20 pmWorked really well. Didn’t think he could make them worse than they were under OGS. Well done to him for that.

Re: Rangnick to leave United
The York game is exactly the one I was thinking of that characterised their season in the second teir
York's shirt incorporated a white Y on a claret background which sadly mirrored the blue V for victory we introduced for the disatourous 75/76 season

Hideous appointment - they’ve managed to get out of jail now in seeing him offElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 4:32 pmThey could probably have dragged a bloke out of the pub to do the same job, and not done any worse.

The marmite shirt is the V - some love it, others like me hate it.EarbyClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 4:38 pmThe York game is exactly the one I was thinking of that characterised their season in the second teir

Re: Rangnick to leave United
I seem to recall Port Vale having a very similar shirt to the V-shirt, a few seasons later. Though it may have been Scunthorpe’s change as I seem to remember Botham wearing it at full back. Yes, that York kit was a stunner.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 4:44 pmThe marmite shirt is the V - some love it, others like me hate it.

Re: Rangnick to leave United
I loved the V shirt it was my first replica and I think I am in decent company with Tony Livesey but appreciate others think it looks like an RL kit and is associated with the start of the decline
Tony - what are your thoughts on a nod towards 72/73 in 22/23 - probably my all time favourite shirt but I am old (schoo)

Re: Rangnick to leave United
The claret shirt with blue trim and the BFC in italics. Massive change for us at the time with not having blue sleeves. I liked that shirt and the away one that came out in 73/74.EarbyClaret wrote: ↑Sun May 29, 2022 5:01 pmI loved the V shirt it was my first replica and I think I am in decent company with Tony Livesey but appreciate others think it looks like an RL kit and is associated with the start of the decline

Yes agree with that - my youngest kids 13 an 10 loved this season's third kit. As old timer it reminded me massively of the 70s #latemidlifecrisis
