Blackburn, Blackpool , PNE and Burnley all play in the same league for the 1st time since 1961, so we should hopefully be guaranteed a 17000 plus gate on those occasions with a cracking derby atmosphere
Since 1961. Didn't know that. Throw Wigan in there. Shame Bolton didn't come up.

Just looked at some figures following relegation from the Premier League to see whether there was any drop after the first season.

2009/10 - 20,653 (Premier League)
2010/11 - 14,930
2011/12 - 14,048
2012/13 - 12,928
2013/15 - 13,721 (promotion season)
2014/15 - 19,130 (Premier League)
2015/16 - 16,823 (promotion season)
That's a reasonable barometer I would have thought. 16,823 was when we smashed it and had the unbeaten run so I think it would take a lot for us to match that. But given wev'e also returned to the Championship after a few years and the fact that there is likely to be some positivity flying about i'd say we should get more than the other seasons we have gone down. So i'll go for 15-16k.

I think we will start around 16,000 and as we build through the season to a title wining crescendo it will be around 20,000

Am I right in thinking that this seasons average so far is actually higher than that of last season? That's what I see on quite a few sources.

Looking back at this thread I don't think many people expected the crowds to be any where near as big as they have been.

I understand the club are looking to increase capacity by seat sharing. Where an adult has purchased 2 STs one being a lesser price, then they will be expected to have the other person on their lap, so that, on matchdays the cheap seat can be resold to a walk on.

Similarly. 2 pensioners can occupy one seat, as some are too old to celebrate goals, now. Extra large blankets will be available in the Bob Lord, to avoid any inconvenience.

you would think replacing all existing wooden seats with plastic/rail type ones would give an immediate increase in capacity, though there would likely be (more) issues with overcrowding in the Cricket Field Stand

There's only about a third of the CF still wooden, all of the BL though.

I don’t know about the official average attendance (the gate), but the actual attendance (bums on seats/stood in the ground) is definitely up. There are far fewer empty seats this season than last.

which suggests they could transfer the plastic ones to the BL and put rail seats throughout the CFS

It really depends on the winter flu season, given that the average age of the BL is 76 and 87% of the season ticket holders are OAP's a bad flu season could reduce the numbers in the BL between 1200 and, 1600.
However, the club's new initiative to force early leavers to be in seats next to the aisle will please most fans.
Also, the word "muppet" will be added to the list of abusive terms by the woke brigade, so that will reduce the numbers in the BL.
The biggest effect on numbers will be the increase in the street price of cocaine, most of the CFS will suddenly realize they are at a football match, not at a rave in a field in Ramsbottom.

Yes. That, I would assume, be an area for standing, so capacity could be greatly increased. Children on shoulders, there, too!

So far this season the average crowd is 19,563. May even make it to 20,000 by the end of the season.
Impressive!

35,000 in our new stadium   (We tend to mirror SC Freiburg for results etc. They have a new stadium and are currently in fourth position in the Bundesliga)
