Average crowd next season
Average crowd next season
What do you think the average crowd for home games next season will be? Maybe some people coming back with a potential change in playing style but some leaving due to not being in the premier league. Also rising cost of living to be taken into account!
Under or over 15k?
Anyone know the average attendance for our home games last season?

Re: Average crowd next season
We sold 12,500 season tickets in the early bird period. If we sell a further 500 over the summer then 13,000 is minimum without away fans taken into account.
Average away followings at the Turf in the Championship are normally 1,100-1,400. I’d imagine with all the derbies and the Turf being a fresh ground for a lot it’ll be the higher end. Add in a thousand walk ons at least I imagine, then it would see us getting 15,000-15,500. If we’re doing well at the top end (I don’t hold out much hope right now) then 16-17,000 perhaps.
It’ll be back to the usual 12-13,000 at Second Division/Championship level in a year or two though.

I could be wrong but I’ve heard we’ve sold out in the home section of the Cricketfield. If this is true than it’s great news in terms of atmosphere

Re: Average crowd next season
Surely all those who didn't go on for the last few years due to only being able to buy seats in the end block of stands will be flocking back to watch this season considering there are seats available in every block of the ground.
Re: Average crowd next season
Obviously depends where we're sitting in the table. Be some big attendances if we're up the top come Christmas. And if we are, it will make for a much better atmosphere than most of the last six years. Difficult for the crowd to get involved watching Man City's death by five yard passes for 88 minutes.

All depends on how we’re performing, if we’re up at the top end challenging 17000 to 18000, if we’re also Rans could be 13500 to 14500

Re: Average crowd next season
There could be a bigger difference next season between the official attendance and the actual attendance.
A significant number of people will have bought a season ticket simply as a way of using up their credit following the sale of their shares. They may not have been to a game for years.
I bought mine in this way, but I'll still be there. I'm looking forward to seeing a few more wins next season.

Plenty of doom mongers will tell you 12-14, Id imagine it will be nearer 16-18.
It all depends how we are getting on, I'm really looking forward to it. I don't watch Burnley because I want to see Man City players and Utd players, I just want to see a decent contest in which both sides stand a chance of winning.
I have zero obsession with what other fans and clubs think of Burnley, our style of play or ground like some on this board.

If we’re in the promotion hunt it could be a higher average than last season for home areas.

That's ok until you click on the decent seats and see the prices.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 10, 2022 8:56 amSurely all those who didn't go on for the last few years due to only being able to buy seats in the end block of stands will be flocking back to watch this season considering there are seats available in every block of the ground.
I clicked on the centre lower longside which is an alright view, not outstanding. £540
There's value in the Early bird DD system, but apart from that It's expensive.
Re: Average crowd next season
Out of interest is the allocation area for away fans still going to be restricted to 2,400 for every home game next season regardless?

Re: Average crowd next season
As for the attendance? There's just too many variables.
13k ST sold. So you would think 12k attending, less on midweek games. Though all 13k count in the gate.
Less away fans than last year, especially in the home ends. But most clubs haven't been here for 6 years and will see us as a big day out. 1900 average.
Walk ons are the key. Should see 5k on for big games, sell out for the derbies.
500 or less for midweek crap game.
With a couple of cheap promotions.
The super computer has come up with 18k.

If we have a decent transfer window I could imagine home fans of around 14-15k, obviously the number of away fans will vary. Possibly maintain this if we are challenging at the top end of the league.
If we have an average/poor season I'd expect home fans to drop to around 13k.

Interestingly, I didn't realise that Anderlect's stadium has around the same capacity as ours - and their average attendance last season was just short of 15k. Kompany shouldn't feel too out of place!

If we start badly, and I don't think we will, the crowds will go below 10,000 [the true figure not inflated by non-attending season ticket holders]; if we are high all season, which I think we will be, we will avarage a true 15,000, maybe 16,000. No more.

We were getting crowds of below 10,000 early on in the 2013/14 season, before the crowds were adjusted up to take accound of non-attending season ticket holders.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 11, 2022 9:07 amNo it won’t I’ve watched Burnley for 30 years and we’ve still not averaged below 10k to my knowledge

Re: Average crowd next season
A few new signings, and the prospect of Kompany may attract a few walk-on's, but a lot will depend how we're faring in the league, near the top and crowds will hold up fine, however if we're toiling in mid-table or lower I can see a rapid fall, and it's not impossible some of the less attractive mid week games see gates below 10k.

Re: Average crowd next season
That’s not what happened from my understanding. 9,600 v Birmingham was the only one I recall below 10K, and they brought about 400. 2013/14 and the following season 2014/15 our crowds appeared accurate to the bums on seats figure.
The ticket office had responsibility taken from then for those two seasons, and if you look at the 2014/15 PL season you’ll see many “sell outs” with crowds varying quite a lot around 19,800 - 21,700. I had chats with Claret Tony and Daz Bentley at the time, as well as the ticket office.
The reason I was given was that whomever had been given responsibility had not been following the correct way, and it all blew up when Baldwin arrived and announced 12,500 season tickets sold, and then the crowd v Birmingham in August 2015/16 was announced lower than the season ticket sales number he had publicly given. He kicked off about it and a statement was made in the press, changing the Birmingham figure to over 15,000 (holiday season effect).
So it seems those two seasons were a more or less accurate view of our crowds.
We started messing with the tickets sold thing in the early 2000’s. Inflate the Gate with that Blackburn fan CEO we had etc. we did, then we didn’t, then did again. We even gave two figures for a couple of years.
Re: Average crowd next season
I know at least 5 people, including me who are all desperate to start going again after we stopped going on because of Dycheball (yes we are plastic fans, blah, blah, blah)... I've done my time watching Burnley over 40 years and I'm not stupid enough anymore to sit through dross as I did back then every week... We all work hard and should demand to be entertained or at least an attempt at it while also trying to win at the same time. Football clubs take advantage of our loyalty at times...
Just waiting to see if we hire a progressive manager first to give us an indication of the style of play... Never again will I sit through SD-type football on a regular basis. I have a life and would rather be sitting in a nice restaurant, cinema, show, gig or theatre for the same price with virtually guaranteed entertainment... There's a lot of competition these days instead of going to watch a football match and as we have seen recently with the ever-increasing number of empty seats at Turf Moor, unadventurous endurance type football is not enough!

#Yes the home crowds drooped quite a bit last season. In my view not proper fans the ones who didnt go. Excpet you of course!!!
I just wonder though how you expected Dyche's teams to play and remain in the premier League against some teams who have had billions spent on them and the rest who have sepnt millions, whikst Dyche had seeet fa to spend.
Re: Average crowd next season
I have tried to decipher that absolutely appalling attempt at English and I've come to the conclusion that you've missed the point entirely and are not worth having a conservation with!#

Re: Average crowd next season
If we've sold 13,500 STs, they'll always be counted I believe.
Away support average will be pretty good with Black**** X 2, Preston, Sheff U, Sunderland, Middlesboro, Hull, Hudd etc. Pulled down by such as Norwich, QPR, Reading, Bristol City but decent followings usually for such as Stoke, Coventry, WBA, Cardiff. Expect minimum of 1500 average.
Home walk-ons will depend on how successful we are but I can see our average quoted gates in the range 15,500- 17,000/17,500.
Let's hope we have some big gates/big atmospheres and good performances.

Blackburn, Blackpool , PNE and Burnley all play in the same league for the 1st time since 1961, so we should hopefully be guaranteed a 17000 plus gate on those occasions with a cracking derby atmosphere

Neck brace
My thoughts too. Already sold more than last year. If we got some exciting young players (Twine, etc) & had a decent pre-season, wouldn’t shock me to see us pushing 15k ST’s.
Re: Average crowd next season
I think anywhere between 15-16k average would be very acceptable in the current climate, times are tough at the moment so some walk ons May have to go to a few less games than they normally would or may not be able to afford it altogether, perfectly understandable as well. For what it’s worth I too know of 5/6 people who only renewed because Dyche went but each to their own I guess.
