Re: Jack Cork
Probably good news in the circumstances, he could be a vital asset next season, as we will need a few older heads alongside the many younger players we might sign.

Re: Jack Cork
Excellent news, but I do wonder what his other options could have been, not many in Premier league I would have thought
Re: Jack Cork
This is great news. Need his experience in the squad. He will also suit VK’s possession orientated system, keeps the ball very well and his PL class will shine at this level when he’s required.

Good news if true. He's one of our best players. Just hope his legs still have the running and he remains injury free.

Re: Jack Cork
I think this is excellent, possibly vital, news and gives us a much better chance of making the Kompany project a success next season.
It's not inconceivable that he could slot in at centre back under Kompany, to replace Mee - particularly if Kompany wants to bring in someone like Cullen to act as a quarter back. He's good in the air, wins his tackles, reads the game well and can communicate.

Like a new signing.
Re: Jack Cork
No local journalist is reporting this... Why? Are they so out of the loop they are irrelevant anymore... Or have the athletic got it wrong??

Andy is a local journalist in that he reports on Burnley. And this is really good news. Cork is the experienced midfielder we need.

Agreed. Chuffed at this. Hopefully keep Brownhill and get Westwood back - all 3 excellent options in the Championship.

Excellent news.
His experience would have been vital last season if he’d been picked more often tbh.

Re: Jack Cork
Westwood will be at least the new year you’d think… and even then might pick up a niggle or two post injury, as most seem to do.
Agree though in general, just that we definitely need to be bringing in a new CM as well.

Quarter Back ??? - He will be yellow carded for all his "handballs"claretspice wrote: ↑Mon Jun 20, 2022 2:46 pmIt's not inconceivable that he could slot in at centre back under Kompany, to replace Mee - particularly if Kompany wants to bring in someone like Cullen to act as a quarter back. I thought American Football was a different type of game
Imagine - Jack Cork at centre back and Kevin Long as our main striker
Exciting times

Good news. If we can keep a few more that are willing to give us at least 1 season to try and get back up then it could be a fun season.

Re: Jack Cork
Cork comments:
"I'm really excited to go again. There is an exciting opportunity to try and get promoted out of a tough league and as soon as there was talks about extending my stay here, I couldn't wait to sign.
"The chance to work with Vincent Kompany, someone I have played against for a number of years, and someone who has won everything as a player, is great, and it will be great to learn from him.
"I can't wait, it's a new challenge and a new feel around the place.
"Burnley feels like home for me, the two spells I've had here have been great. I have made some great memories and hopefully we can make some more now."

The club/paper relationship is heavily in the club's favour with the likes of the BE and LT. Less so with the Athletic, and with them retaining Andy Jones as a dedicated journalist I’d say BFC need that relationship more.
Re: Jack Cork
I’m not convinced that a 2 year deal is in our best interests but it’s probably the minimum that Jack would accept given the circumstances.

One thing I have been wondering re The Athletic is if they will keep a dedicated Burnley correspondent now we are no longer in the PL.

Re: Jack Cork
Great news and positive in so many ways.
1. We know all about his passing ability and will help the team to retain possession.
2. After all the negativity and scaremongering by press (and in indeed many of our own nervous / worried supporters) it’s reassuring that a player and person of his high calibre has put his confidence in both the club / Chairman and new regime - ie VK and co).

“The chance to work with Vincent Kompany” Iv got a feeling we will be hearing that quite a lot in the future. He’s going to be a big pull certainly at this level.

Re: Jack Cork
I’m a massive Jack Cork fan and feel he can be a standout for us in the Championship. We need additions in the middle of the park, no doubt on that (specifically some creativity), but with the age profile Kompany is after seemingly being very young, you need to have some true experience in there.
Very, very good news for us!

CB is a bit of an unknown, but otherwise it’s shaping up that we will have decent players in all other positions.

Brilliant news, its so sad to see the team broken up as it has and will be.We need the Corks and Barnes and JayRods and Taylor to maintain some continuity. Hope we can keep one or two more as well to blend with the younger players.

Poor old Boden, seems like a thankless task for him. Very much the case of cultivated like mushrooms.

Re: Jack Cork
Good news with Jack Cork signing a new deal especially if the rumours are true about us looking to build a relatively young side.
Experience like Jack's will be priceless.
I'm a little puzzled about Andy Jones being Athletic's dedicated Burnley reporter when a few were saying on another thread that he's a Rover's fan.
Just seems a little odd to me.
Re: Jack Cork
Very good news. Jack's had his ups and downs but finished last season pretty well.
I don't think there's ever been any doubt about the man he is. On the level; good egg. Dychian. He will almost certainly be our captain and will play a vital role - that which we all hoped Ben would play - in ensuring all the players go with VK's instructions.
Great news!

Might be worth offering my next door neighbour a short term deal if we want to play possession football. 8 years she's lived there and she never gives the ball up once she's got it.
