Yes a bit weird isn’t it. What is there to prepare? Surely it’s just an email or a phone call.
No. They make it complicated.

Another £2 in July next year.

Indeed!
I really, really appreciate people that post new info. Sometimes I’ve already seen it, sometimes I haven’t and it’s appreciated!
But people arguing ad nauseam about who is replacing who and the “financials” ( that they aren’t privy to anyway) jhc, give yourself a time out you’re ruining the board.

We do seem to be in a very lucky position with regards to Kompany, his relationship to City, proximity to them and our new style of play.
They may well end up as seeing us as some sort of unofficial Feeder type club. Where loans between us and there supposed wonderkids is common place, I hope so at least.

I wonder if he could persuade Sheikh Mansoor to somehow invest in Burnley? Haha. I don't know but I doubt the same owners could own two clubs in the same leagues but investment?

Problem is, as an attacking midfielder, if we sign him he’s stopping one of our own getting a place in the team? And our model is dependent on us developing our own players. I really dislike loans but not as much as I dislike the financial ramifications of a prolonged period in the Championship, so I’d take it.
Also I’d say better than O’ Hare and would allow the cash to be spent on a striker??

One of our own getting a place in the team? We're way short on those positions. Lennon has gone, JBG cannot be relied upon and this should hopefully be his last season (VK might even be looking to offload him given the opportunity), we have lost Dwight and Cornet is going. Sounds like Brownhill might play a bit more advanced but e are missing true No10 type players - I personally think we need at least two more.
If McAtee is available on loan AND they can do a deal for O'Hare too this would give us much better options. Whilst loans are not ideal (and nobody wants a squad full of loans), I want to watch an exciting, successful team so don't really mind if that means us having 3 or 4 loans within the squad - especially if they are players of McAtee's ability.

Won't that put Burnley at a disadvantage when we have so many loan players who can't play when we are drawn against City in the cup and when we are back in the Premier League?

When two of the directors/shareholders at Crystal Palace were in one of the consortiums bidding for Chelsea it was said that they'd have to end their involvement with Palace including sell their shares.

Do the loan rules apply to the cups?
Unless City put a clause in for example

Has JBG ever been used in a more central role for us?
He doesn’t seem able to cope with running up and down the wing, perhaps he might flourish in Kompanys system.

Problem is it’s JBG we’re talking about. If he does flourish it will be short lived as he’ll soon be injured again. Ideally one for the exit door I think, along with a couple of others from the previous era.

Never recovered from being kicked all.over the place by Lincoln thugs all those years ago. Frustrating for us because he is a good footballer but God knows how bad it must be for him. Yes, I know he is being paid but at still only 31 he desperately wants to be available to play but as far as I can see his plight seems to be worsening.

Er, if we are building for the future, then too many loans isn't going to help that
If we are going for promotion this season, then they certainly will help that
I think we've got enough loans as it is tbh

I am getting as protective of the club funds as the owners. We cannot be charitable and continue to pay players who are permanently injured, old and who infrequently play. The club need to get him, Long, Norris, Lowton (if Roberts stays) off the wage list. It may leave the squad weaker so a chance for Costelloe, Richardson, and one or two others to fill that bench. The minute Vydra is approaching fitness he needs to be given a deadline on deciding if he is signing up

Do you not think we want to go for promotion this season?
I kind of hear what you're saying...but I think we have really missed a trick utilising the loan market over recent years. And in the financial position we now find ourselves it might mean borrowing a player that would add the quality to get us back in the Premier League and the financial benefits that brings. I'm sure the owners would prefer we got back in the PL as soon as possible.

In our situation we are going to get a better quality loan than by buying someone, particularly in the striking role ie Broja last year at Southampton, Abraham at Villa a few years ago (his goals got Villa promoted)

The article is just a rehash of the earlier banter. However I don’t seem how he is going to get much first team football with the top young striker ahead of him. I would take this guy on loan in a heartbeat. Hope something comes out of this….

Genuine question as it’s all been a bit of a whirlwind with the transfers that few of us are used to !!
But is not just THB and the left back from City we have got on loan at the moment or are there others ?
I think we have room for a couple more quality loans - especially if one was Delap as you do not pass opportunities up like that. It’s not ideal for building for the future as you say but with our current state of finances I’m not sure there is another way of bringing in a player with what we believe to be Premier League quality. Especially as the big clubs like Chelsea and City tend to tie in their young stars into some very tasty long term contracts even though they have never played or hardly played for the first teams (look at what Chalobah was on at Chelsea a number of years ago now for example).
The likes of Chelsea and City have huge squads - upwards of 50 or players on their books and in the last few years they have been some of the cream of the youngsters across Europe. It’s incredible with Chelsea for example how many players who have done really well on loan at other clubs and never kicked a ball for Chelsea……and then being valued for £20m plus like Borja

Spot on, if certain loan chances come up you have to take them. Delap would be one because he is touted as the next big thing and at 19 will be ready.
Broadly though we have to build from within because if loans get us up and those players return to their clubs, where are we then? Probably coming straight back down. It is already a concern that buying players so young could mean that the PL in 2023 is a tad early for them, even more so if they haven’t had 46 games of extra experience.

Not quite case closed according to Robins...
Robins said: “I don’t see anything as case closed. The transfer window is open and anything can happen, and that’s the way it is until it slams shut.

is there a rule limiting the number of loans a club can have?
Right now I believe we have 2 in the squad, Man City and Chelsea, you'd be expecting both those teams are expecting to see these players actually getting game time, like some have mentioned, for me I think 3 loans are more than enough and should be squad rotations also.

Cornet to Newcastle?
Newcastle are the latest Premier League club chasing Burnley ace Maxwel Cornet.
The Magpies are ready to trigger the £17.5m release clause in Cornet’s Clarets contract to steal a march on their rival suitors.
Everton have had a bid to take Cornet on loan rejected while the 25-year-old Ivorian failed to agree personal terms with Nottingham Forest.
Chelsea also considered a move for Cornet earlier in the transfer window but have so far failed to firm up their interest.
Manager Eddie Howe is looking to bolster Newcastle’s attacking options and believes Cornet could be a bargain buy for the cash-rich north east club.

Thought Karamoh is more of a wide player. Plenty of pace and skill, lost his way a bit after a very promising start earning a move to Inter. Could be agent talk as a few clubs linked abroad.

After leaving us Chalobah went on to play 45 PL games and got an England cap too. SD hardly played him when we took him, and eventually Chelsea took him back. Bit like Bamford-SD would not play him, then he became prolific at Leeds and also got an England cap. Neither were bad players
