He must be amazing because I'd never heard of him until he was mentioned in this thread.

We certainly seem to like to keep a lot of plate spinning to the end. It does seem at least we have progressed the Brentford forward to a medical but the preferred target is Obafemi. Tough on the Brentford lad tomorrow if we pull the plug on him because offer accepted on Obafemi at the last minute?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Did someone mention we had gone back for the lad at Rotherham? I might have imagined it, but I thought the bid had been accepted. I only ask as he played tonight.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Disagree, he's perfect for Kompany's setup. He's also got the skillset to play the role Tella has been playing.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 10:50 pmI wouldn’t be going about 4-5mil had seemed to be the limit we will spend on one player all summer, he’s not the player to play the jay rod role, the lad from Brentford or Callum Robinson more suited to that role

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He wouldn’t be the player to drop deep like Jay Rod is doing and hold the ball up, he’s an Andre gray in behind type with pace.
Jay playing so deep lying also gives us the go long option too
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
He does drop deep for Swansea, him doing so created the space for Piroe, who was playing more as a 10, to score as many goals as he did last season.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 11:31 pmHe wouldn’t be the player to drop deep like Jay Rod is doing and hold the ball up, he’s an Andre gray in behind type with pace.

He has the pace to run in behind too, but he can certainly play the role Jay does.

Everything I saw seemed to be piroe dropping deep into the 10 role and obafemi running in behind, who knows I still wouldn’t be paying anywhere near the 10mil quoted

I also thought he was one who just played on the shoulder. However, from a look at videos it backs up the above and he seems to have more to his game. Pace to get in behind but also the strength and technical ability to hold onto the ball and bring others into play. Think he would be a good option for us.

We're overloaded up top as it is, I'd rather the money spent on a quality centre half to play instead of Taylor because he will get caught out against the top 6 teams

Kompany said in his recent interview that he wants more subs to be available on the bench like in the Prem. It's currently 7 in the championship, but 9 in the Prem.
We actually have enough squad depth now to utilise that.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Obafemi would be an excellent signing, really hoping we pull this one off. Swansea play a possession based game too so he’ll be used to some of the movement expected, though we’ll be creating a lot more chances for him than he gets there.

He will be this seasons andre gray promotion type signing

We still need a CH as we are one injury away from being very exposed in the centre of defence, and even now balls over the top cause us a lot of problems.

If we pay anywhere near 10 mill I'd be disappointed.
His record isn't great, would much prefer we spent 10 mill on Kouyate for defence

Egan-Riley can step in no problem, wouldn’t say that’s being exposed. I’d also like a dominant CH but then what happens with Taylor?

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I'm not sure how Obafemi could be described as an excellent or marquee signing at this point. I wonder what such judgements are based on.
Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
One of the best attacking players in this league, 22 years old, suits our system, very quick, decent scoring record last season for an average team. I wouldn't describe it as a marquee but can see why, in the sense he'd be our most expensive signing of the summer (if it happens).

No idea about the loan window. If that was the case then no need to scramble about like clubs do on the final day

Number of times. Including at Southampton in the PL. Also impressed me for Ireland when I watched them over the summer in the nations league, scored against Scotland.
He scored 1 goal every 168 minutes in the Champ last season. People have been wanting proven Champ strikers all summer, here is an exciting one and I’m seeing comments like hmmmm no not for me.
Anyway, might not happen but I hope it does.

Not sure we are desperate for a CB with Egan-Riley and McNally as back up. Obefaml the only likely signing today.

Think some of you are getting ahead of yourselves with Obafemi. Swansea are going to need to climb down in a massive way for him to end up here.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
Obafemi last season in the league.
Signed early in the season and only started one his first twelve league games, scoring one goal. He got a run in the side from the beginning of Feb and started nineteen of his last twenty games scoring eleven goals.
So:-
12 (11) - 1 Goal
20 (1) - 11 Goals
Make his stats look a lot better than 32 games 12 Goals.

Well if he’s a Danny Ings type that’d be perfectGoody1975 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 11:17 amI agree.
My comparison would be Danny Ings as I feel Dervişoğlu isn't an out and out number nine, although he played more as a central striker last year at Galatasaray. Ings hadn't been a goal scorer until his fired us to promotion in 2014.
Only off Youtube clips admittedly but he looks to be strong on the ball, able to take the ball on the half turn and a good dribbler, give any forward decent service and they will score, the one thing this team looks like doing is creating chances.

Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I don't disagree from the outside but their forums are suggesting they are skint and need to sell, there is talk that Piroe may leave as well, it's amazing what clubs will accept on the final day of the window when they need the dosh. If we do buy it'll be nowhere near £10 Million.agreenwood wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 8:20 amThink some of you are getting ahead of yourselves with Obafemi. Possibly, though Jason O’Connor is usually spot on with Irish players and he said our latest bid is close to their valuation.agreenwood wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 8:20 amThink some of you are getting ahead of yourselves with Obafemi. Re: Transfer Rumours Thread - NO FINANCIAL DISCUSSION
I'm surprised you haven't mentioned him until now and before we have been linked with him if you have seen him play several times and you know he'll be an excellent signing. I think most people will be uncertain because they only have sight of his stats and highlights on YouTube. But based on what we've seen of VK's transfers so far we must trust him.RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Sep 01, 2022 8:13 amNumber of times. Including at Southampton in the PL. I'm not saying he's Danny Ings but the clips I've seen he looks to drop off and collect the ball on the half turn and run at defenders. The fans in Turkey seem to suggest he needs to work on his finishing but we will create chances.
Does the talk about Obafemi mean we are looking at one or the other or maybe both with a player leaving today?

Kevin Long , hardly ever lets us down , needs to be on the bench as soon as fit.

On Obefemi he’s 5ft 7, I’ve been telling people for years that’s the perfect height for a footballer
