Your dark horse tip for the Championship?

Post by Milltown1882 » Mon Jul 25, 2022 5:19 pm

There’s always one team that flies under the radar then ends up in the playoffs somehow.

Who are you predicting to far exceed expectations this season?

I’m going for Hull. Making some really good signings, new ownership and money in the bank from Lewis-Potter and Bowen add ons to keep spending.

I think Luton went under most peoples radar last season. I expect them to be strong (but unfancied) again.

I reckon Burnley could be the surprise package this season.

Got a decent striker, they have a good chance of being a surprise package

I included Luton as 1 of my 3 teams in the Championship prediction League.

They have won 5 pre season games and held a strong West Ham side to a 1-1 draw on Saturday.

Swansea

Ended last season very well, Russell Martin’s system is quite impressive and they have Piroe, who could be the leagues top scorer

Sunderland they finished last season strongly to come up through the play=off's, and with the likes of Dan Neil and Ross Stewart they'll get goals, plus their big home support could be a huge asset if they get on a roll similar to Forest last season.

And in Alex Neil they possess a young manager who knows what it takes to get out of the Champ.

I agree they could be a strong team this season. Recruited quite well. Signed Ballard, Jack Clarke and managed to retain there top talent

Another one for Sunderland.

Think Birmingham, Millwall and Huddersfield* will struggle.

*Watch them stick four past us now.

Rovers.

New manager.. Cash available and being spent on proven champ material..excellent pre-season.. 1st half of last season they were flying until they imploded... Cat 1 academy producing some usable talent.

Hopefully I'm totally wrong.

I actually think Preston might struggle more than expected this year. Their big players last year were loan signings who’ve returned to their clubs and I’m not convinced by the manager.

Swansea haven’t been talked about much, but have a feeling they could do well.

We shouldn't be a surprise package we should be favourites to bounce straight back

Clearly on the wind up here, lost 5 or 6 first team players and only managed to sign a right back at this stage. Outside of youth prospects they are struggling to make an 18-man squad.

At this stage they will be lucky to escape a relegation battle.
