Looks
To have been credited to Calvert lewin now.
God I’m looking forward to the season if that first 45 mins is a taste of what’s to come
Re: Match Thread - Huddersfield v VK’s mighty Clarets
Vydra should be begging to get back in this side, he’d shine.

The Huddersfield back line and midfield are so slow. Think they will struggle this year.

At least Costelloe not hiding , wants the ball which is good to see.

Harsh. Think he's been good.WazzaClaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 29, 2022 8:46 pmWe look so good, the amount of messages from other fans I've had tonight is unreal. Costelloe has really struggled, and it's done his confidence. Really hope he gets a goal.

A brilliant first half. Pace, movement, desire - completely dominated the half. More of the same please, this is tasty!

Maatsen looks different class
Re: Match Thread - Huddersfield v VK’s mighty Clarets
Superb stuff so far. Great passing. Maatsen and Cullen have been excellent. Need a decent striker though.

Huddersfield like rabbits in headlights. We have been outstanding. Win lose or draw I'm totally with this new Burnley City Barcelona Madrid side lol

Cullen is a cut above so far. He’s making us tick. Very quick thinking aswell which speeds up our play. Chalk and Cheese from The likes of Jones who used to play that role.
We are playing very well without being clinical.
If we bring in the best striker we can afford we will walk this league at a canter.

That must be one of the most impressive first halves of any season I can remember in 50 years

Didn't expect us to produce a 45 minutes like that, one big worry is it's only 1-0, and we all know football can change in an instant.
Maatsen looks a real player, but they've all been good, and most importantly they're enjoying themselves and it shows in their play.

Impressive.
Nervy first five minutes and then we came into it.
Maatsen and Bastien very impressive, excellent movement.
Costelloe looks raw, nervy and is underhitting things. Understandable given the situation but I'd be inclined to swap him for Twine if Twine can manage 45, or Vitinho.
Want a second as we looked a bit confused in defence during the brief period Huddersfield came at us,but overall very pleased with that.

75% possession, brilliant
Re: Now that's football
Absolutely
Shows how we can pass it around and create chances
Feel sorry for Costello missing that chance
Hope it doesn’t put him off his game as he has done well so far

What a brilliant half of football!!
Imagine O'Hare in for Costelloe, a top striker in for Barnes and a fully fit Twine challenging the two forward midfielders. That team would take some beating

Didn’t expect to see this level of cohesion in the team this early on. Granted Huddersfield have been rubbish. Like to think Twine will solve the taking the chances issue

Sitting here with a big grin on my face! Hopefully they can take the game away from Hudders early in the second half.

Re: Match Thread - Huddersfield v VK’s mighty Clarets
He's been back having treatment and been offered a 2 year deal at reduced terms, but he's turned thus down. Talks ongoing and its been said he wants to stay, but other teams interested.
Supposedly he's ahead of schedule with his recovery and should be back playing early in the new year.
Re: Match Thread - Huddersfield v VK’s mighty Clarets
Get O'Hare and a striker in and with Twine fully fit we'll have some team.
Re: Match Thread - Huddersfield v VK’s mighty Clarets
Very good stuff, love the fact we are fully committed to the style and not only 70/30 etc.
Although not to be a dampner pooper, Udders looks super low on confidence and ideas. No surprise after the last manager quit and said he felt it was too much of a challenge to go again.
Enough to dent the confidence of any team, still need to beat them though.

73% possession!
Pity so many chances going begging. Could be costly.
Hope we continue to dominate and score a hateful.
Up the Clarets.
Are we playing uphill or downhill 2nd half?

Re: Match Thread - Huddersfield v VK’s mighty Clarets
That was great, and just reinforces the point that I know **** all about football, despite watching Burnley at all levels since 1991.
Three full backs in that team. THREE!
Everyone completely excellent and the football is fantastic.
there was a stat on Sky earlier showing total touches and we were the top five, and the commentator said something like 'we could do the top 8 before you found a huddersfield player, and that was the goalkeeper!'.
Tremendous.

What? leading the first game at half time, how can we not be enroute to winning the Championship with a record points haul.

Cullen is just tick tock clockwork. He is that midfielder that we have missed for a few years. Kind of Bartonesque.

Re: Match Thread - Huddersfield v VK’s mighty Clarets
Great half of football. We look a class above but let's not get carried away just yet.
Re: Match Thread - Huddersfield v VK’s mighty Clarets
We will play much better teams than Huddersfield this season, but they will be very wary of our attacking abilities after this

Looks good. But they were total tosh. See what happens 2nd half.
I reckon I'd have done ok against them for 45mins.

Re: Match Thread - Huddersfield v VK’s mighty Clarets
I honestly think on that we should hang on to Cornet at all costs.
His movement has always been superb at finding space behind or between lines, his best position is an absolute mystery but this formation is practically 2-2-2-2-2 so any position is a guess. Him and Vydra (if he would sign) would thrive in this.
I'm blown away and never been so happy to be wrong about a starting lineup.
