Today's footie 21/8

Post by tiger76 » Sun Aug 21, 2022 12:25 pm

Bristol City-Cardiff the midday offering. Wells in the BC starting line-up.

0-0 20 mins in, and not much to write home about.

2-0 Bristol, and it looks like they're heading for all 3 pts on Pearson's birthday.

Premier League in 15 minutes, Leeds v Chelsea and West Ham v Brighton at 2, Cornet on bench for West Ham.

Yep they’ve spent the Phillips / Raphinha money very well.

Importantly they’ve backed the manager, these are very clearly his signings.

Delighted for Tuchel. He and Conte were a disgrace last week. Imagine Kompany or Dyche behaving like that.

Why would Potter go to Utd when he's building something at Brighton.

3 defeats on the spin for the Hammers, and they keep leaking goals.

I see Wood is 'comfortable' sat on his cushion on the bench. Pope must be sick to death of City.

He would find it incredibly difficult to turn down such an opportunity. In fact I'd say more inconceivable. But United wouldn't be interested in him anyway.

Proper game this one, and Newcastle aren't sitting back are they, deserved equaliser over the past 10 minutes they've been on top and committed bodies forward.

Enjoying watching on numerous occasions how City distribute the ball from the back. First minute or two Ederson walloped one clear, ten minutes ago Walker recovered the ball, looked inside, saw Wilson on the edge of the box so didn’t pass to his keeper (turned to the touchline to hoof clear and was fouled).

They are supremely good at seeing when to hoof and when to pass short. Kompany knows this of course. It’s just that our players don’t have that experience - yet. I’m sure we will get better at it as the season progresses.

(makes a nice change thinking about us copying City rather than Allerdyce-ball)

There isn’t. I recall our commentary team mocking Brentford last season for over celebrating - then we did even more so with wins v Southampton, Wolves and Watford.

Yes Utd is rapidly becoming a poisoned chalice for managers, and for me they aren't the draw they might have been a few years ago.

Potter carries on like he is at Brighton, and I can see somebody like Spurs being interested in time.
