Always thought it was going to be between Stoke and West Brom which suitable job in Championship would become available first this season.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Lowton, Long and potentially even JBG follow if so.....

I thought this. 6 days to go. Could see him reforming the band and getting Bardo, Erik, Longy, Lowts, Lennon in.
Re: Dyche to Stoke?
Read Dyche has already turned it down, no idea if true.

Be ironic if we flogged some of our older players to Stoke wouldn't it, I would shed no tears if JBG or Long went, but Lowton might well be worth retaining.ŽižkovClaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 9:59 amWouldn't be surprised to see Lowton, Long and potentially even JBG follow if so.....
Re: Dyche to Stoke?
Good old club is Stoke and they have really big potential, but I still think a Premier League opportunity would turn up for Sean Dyche sooner or later.

Re: O’Neill sacked at Stoke
I reckon Dyche is hanging fire for WBA
Re: Dyche to Stoke?
Dyche is a proven premier league manager. A struggling prem side could do worse than Dyche let alone a struggling championship side.
Re: O’Neill sacked at Stoke
I think if Dyche is hanging fire for a job then it’ll be at a Premier League club.
He’s good mates with Steve Bruce so I doubt he’ll be that desperate to jump into his shoes should the opportunity arise.

Re: Dyche to Stoke?
You have to assume he’s being paid by Burnley at least until a new opportunity arises, so probably not in a rush to drop to the Championship.
Especially with Lampard/Gerrard on the brink. Imagine he’ll want a Prem job at his age/profile/experience.

Re: Dyche to Stoke?
He couldn't get another PL job after getting us into Europe when his stock was at an all time high, his stocks plummeted since then imo.
Re: O’Neill sacked at Stoke
I would hope that certain clubs have alerted him that he is in their thoughts, via his agent.
Nothing short term, however, no need to hurry, is there!

There's no chance Dyche gets a PL job.

I can't see either Everton or Villa going for him. Forest, maybe, if they have a bad run and pot Cooper.

442 and straight lines. No foreign players (ideally).
Game has moved on.
Re: Dyche to Stoke?
Not convinced a PL club would take him. Can see a club like Stoke being a good fit. They are decent sized historic club. Think Dyche is better suited to a long term project than a quick fix too.

Re: Dyche to Stoke?
Whenever there were vacancies amongst the established PL clubs whilst he was at Burnley he was always quoted by the bookmakers at 40/1 or higher.
Re: Dyche to Stoke?
He’ll go to one of the midlands (i.e. nearer home) Championship ‘sleeping giants’ with a multi-millionaire/billionaire owner.
He’ll get them promoted, but then what...
p.s. good luck to him wherever he goes.

Re: O’Neill sacked at Stoke
According to the BBC he was sacked following a poor start to the season with the club having won just once in 5 Championship league fixtures.
That statement applies to a dozen clubs in the Championship currently including Burnley.

Re: Dyche to Stoke?
I see Dyche wanting to go back into a premier league club for his next role but I think he has to be pragmatic.
He talks about his style being more what was needed for the players he had.
If he is only going to pick up a club where it is perceived to be failing then unless that club is happy for Dyche to come in and either try and prove he can play a different style of football with different players or whether they want him to come in and sure things up - it’s really limiting his opportunities.
I couldn’t see a top 10 side going for him as Burnley is almost become his brand. He can work with limited budgets and maximise from the minimum.
His experience comes from what he did with us and that was good for us but may limit future opportunities. He is clearly capable of being successful as a manager and will no doubt be putting all his achievements on his CV.
He is a good manager and our best of my lifetime.
However, I think he could do worse than a championship team with some backing and a project that shows he can succeed with different players and a different style.
My view is that he is good at what he does but I have nothing that says he is more than a ‘Sam Alladyce’ type appointment for a club at the top level. He needs to expand his personal brand if he wants to go to a bigger club in the PL.

No chance their owners/fans would accept Dyche. One of the bigger Championship clubs is as good as he'll get.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 10:43 amI think Dyche will be at Villa or Everton by Christmas.

There’s a difference between winning 1/5 and losing 3/5 thoughkentonclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 11:03 amAccording to the BBC he was sacked following a poor start to the season with the club having won just once in 5 Championship league fixtures.

No. Chance.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 10:47 amYes. Why wouldn’t they? They have hired numerous high profile managers over the past few years that have failed.
Dyche would make them a mid table prem team comfortably

If Kompany gets us to a 7th placed finish in the PL on a shoestring and keeps us up for 6 seasons then you can say he’s ‘as good as’
Till then you’re chatting absolute ********

Re: Dyche to Stoke?
I know from a Stoke fan, that they'd love to have him.
He'd do a good job as well. It would be strange to see him back at the Turf in the away dug-out, but I hope it happens.

Re: Dyche to Stoke?
Based on what?
I know it’s in vogue to criticise Dyche on here (unbelievable) but that is an insane take. Or is it okay to positively judge someone after five games, but frowned upon to do so negatively after five games?
Dyche lost ten games in his last 92 in this league, is still 23 games unbeaten and achieved two automatic promotions. If we have a manager better than that then I’ll put my feet up and relax as we’re in for a treat.

Re: Dyche to Stoke?
Dyche knows his value - would be surprised if he took the first job that is offered to him, even if the Stoke job does feel very on-brand.
Jobs will appear in the mid to lower end of the PL - they always do - and that is his market.
He'd still be managing a PL club now if he had been backed properly in the past two summers.

Re: Dyche to Stoke?
Stoke would absolutely love to get him. As said above, when it comes to crunch time, clubs like Everton and Villa will move for him. Whether it's fashionable or not, it's why Allardyce kept getting hired.
I can't see Stoke being able to afford what he's still on with us though, so he'd be unlikely to take it.

Re: Dyche to Stoke?
I think wherever Dyche ends up next he will be likely to fail and underachieve. Football management is far from an exact science and as well as talent it often also requires some luck and things just naturally falling in to place.
Not many managers are successful at two jobs in a row and whilst I think Dyche will do well somewhere at some point in the future I doubt it will be his next club.
