Its been coming

Post by Shaggy » Sat Aug 27, 2022 7:23 pm

It’s been coming, someone was going to be on the end of a hiding, and I personally didn’t think we got out of 2nd gear today. There’s so much more to come from this group of players.

Onwards and upwards..

And we are back above the horse botherer’s

Comfortably better than every side we have played so far

Just a few tweaks and we could batter a lot of teams this year

Excellent bench too which is fantastic

Great result today and it should rightly be celebrated, however we now need to follow it up against Millwall.

4 games unbeaten now, and only 1 defeat in 7 including the Shrewsbury cup tie, so the consistency is slowly growing by the game.

And today we can't be accused of being toothless.

Great result, and I don't want to sound churlish, but we were still sloppy at times, especially giving the ball away in silly places.
I can see lots of improvement to come yet, which is brilliant considering how we are playing.

It has been coming and should have happened last week.

But we all know where we're short, and sort those two positions out with good players and we should walk this league.

Not being negative at all but it wasn't really a 5-1 game. Still look vulnerable against long balls and didn't create that many chances. Absolutely clinical with what we did create though. Not gonna go over the top with a great win same as I wasn't too despondent with recent points dropped. Work in progress and getting better.

You only need to read the opposition views on the game to get a good idea of how good we were. Many Wigan fans accept they were outclassed today. Wigan fans were saying how much pace we had as a team. We certainly are a different prospect under VK. UTC.

I think we've played better in other games this season (or at least certainly looked more dominant). But I also think we deserved some luck eventually, and I'm in no way surprised to see a scoreline slightly outweigh the performance. It has been coming

Keep up these performances and we can hit 80 points
But I also think some other teams could be capable of similar (Norwich, Watford, Sheffield Utd)

I agree with this - we have to do better in defending the long ball.

Wigan actually outperformed us on shots on target and xG…

We were however extremely clinical - which is always a good thing

It's papered over the cracks against a truly woeful side, this division you will get found out & Wigan delivered, still a good result no doubts there. It's a very topsy turvy league.

Sorry but don’t agree. I don’t think we have clicked yet but the moments of quality today were enough to smash a local rival.

We mixed up our play a bit today and it was more effective. Our games to date we have threatened from afar to blow a hole in someone and today it was Wigan.

We were absolutely superb today and barring a moment of madness from muric we would have had a clean sheet. I can't wait to see a game where every player clicks, no silliness at the back. A special mention for Jbg today he looked brilliant, I can only remember 1 occasion where he gave the ball away cheaply. Lots of fans were up for letting him go but if he can stay injury free, he's a real difference maker for us.

It certainly has been coming.

Ironically we are 2-3 points behind what we actually deserve on performance, and thst can only be a positive so early on.

There's lots of room for growth too.

WE NEED to back that up now Tuesday, get a win at home, get that monkey off our backs, and the table will look a hell of a lot better come Tuesday 22:00, hopefully.

We should have a good gauge of the movers and shakers, and where we are as a team ( league wise ) by the 1st international break in September.

Wigan have had a solid start to the season, and in their 4 games before yesterday they'd shipped only 2 goals, so for us to sweep them aside 5-1 deserves huge praise for VK and the whole squad.

Only 3 points off the top, and with plenty of room for improvement, which given time will come I'm sure.

Agree we need to follow up yesterday with 3 points against Millwall, before a tricky trip to West Brom rapidly looms, however on that display we should be confident of giving any team a game in this league, of course that doesn't mean we'll win them all, but we'll certainly win our fair share on this form.

Exactly my thoughts at half time against Blackpool, this was coming, a team was due a proper pasting. I think that Blackpool 2nd half will benefit this team hugely in the long run. Now let's get our first home win on the board.

Ironically by far our lowest percentage possession gives us a 5-1 win. Suggests that we will do best agains teams who try to play football. We just need to break down the ‘Burnleys’ now and we are laughing.

The most interesting aspect for me, and I said the same in the match thread, is that, apart from 10 minutes after their goal, we played a toe-to-toe game comfortably, at a fast pace, and then we played a possession game, with success. We switched between the two seamlessly.

For me, that was the biggest takeaway from this game
