Re: Pitchside v Wigan
You can notice the difference between old and new players when they arrive at the stadium. All new players phones in hand, headphones in, all the old players no phones, no headphones.
Is that maybe a more British thing from the old players or a rule from the Dyche era?

The latter, I think. I'd ban them, too.claretburns wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 6:59 pmYou can notice the difference between old and new players when they arrive at the stadium. All new players phones in hand, headphones in, all the old players no phones, no headphones.

Also noticed on the ‘new signings’ videos, diamond earrings are a common thing too

Great watch. Pleased to see Franchi travelled to get him bedded in. I’m amazed how quickly they have gelled. Look like a real team every time they score, delight on every face. Unless they are mentally spending the win bonus?
Re: Pitchside v Wigan
I personally prefer the Dyche era approach, which to me projects a more professional attitude. That said, if it helps some players relax to the benefit of their performance on the pitch then perhaps it shouldn’t be banned.
Re: Pitchside v Wigan
I want players to play at their best whilst wearing the Burnley shirt, if that's after they've had a listen to their music if choice, or firing a text or 2 to family and friends pre match then so be it.
If VK accepts it, and it helps them in anyway, then it's nothing to do with me.

Re: Pitchside v Wigan
Totally agree. I've always said from many, many years ago that as long as they put their all into the game I have no concerns whatsoever about their appearance. That was in the days of long hair, socks around ankles, beards and even white boots. Always a fan of Argentinian football back in the day and many of their players pushed the so-called 'limits'. But they could all play.MACCA wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 7:35 pmI want players to play at their best whilst wearing the Burnley shirt, if that's after they've had a listen to their music if choice, or firing a text or 2 to family and friends pre match then so be it.

Dyche didn’t allow players to arrive at grounds wearing headphonesclaretburns wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 6:59 pmYou can notice the difference between old and new players when they arrive at the stadium. All new players phones in hand, headphones in, all the old players no phones, no headphones.

It's not a conversation for another day but the characters within the dressing room reflect the characters in mainstream life.
They should not be judged as long as they do a job for the team.
Brownhill though does look like a future captain.

if it helps them relax, play well and win I wouldn't care if they all turned up on a giraffe fitted with bassbins listening to techno

Re: Pitchside v Wigan
I'd make them listen to a Sony Walkman and play Space Invaders on a Commedor 64.Then we will see proper football

Does it though? I arrive at work wearing headphones listening to music, as do lots of my colleagues. Doesn’t affect what we then do every day.

Great day out. However, after spotting myself, diet starts tomorrow! How many lbs does the camera put on?

Re: Pitchside v Wigan
On the Blackpool version of "uncut" I noticed that the Burnley players all arrived together by coach. Is that a VK-era thing or did they do the same under past managers?
Re: Pitchside v Wigan
I was hoping it was more! It’s all kidology on this message board about replica shirts being smaller fit each year. Reality is, I’m getting bigger! Sorry about this. I’ll just go and sit in a dark corner somewhere and reflect on my next guess for the tin food count.
Re: Pitchside v Wigan
You and your colleagues have loads of kids waiting for a quick word, a wave or an autograph do you ?deanothedino wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 9:15 pmDoes it though? I arrive at work wearing headphones listening to music, as do lots of my colleagues. Doesn’t affect what we then do every day.

Re: Pitchside v Wigan
No doubts in Dyche’s approach having several real plus points, the headphones and bobble hats in training ban were two of them.
But it is also true that with the new media approach like this pitchside cam there is more access than before, so it is a bit of swings and roundabouts.
The proof of the pudding will be whether we get promoted, as ever.

Worth watching for the little kid shouting "Baldy! Baldy! Baldy! Baldy! Baldy!" at the Wigan lad coming to take a corner.

We've had the pitchside cam for quite a while, long before this season started.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 10:44 pm

The game against Man U. was from last season, for example:

How are two of those reasons to not wear headphones? If anything they’re reasons to wear headphones to keep them focussed on the task ahead.
Sometimes have the odd protestor who’d like a word though so maybe it’s not so different after all

Re: Pitchside v Wigan
I was near to that corner and can confirm that those 4 young lads entertained themselves and those around for the whole game. There were a group of Wigan fans approx 6 of similar age that they were having banter with the whole of the second half, being cheeky to the Wigan players, lovely to see and the Stewards in that corner were really good with them.quoonbeatz wrote: ↑Mon Aug 29, 2022 10:52 pmWorth watching for the little kid shouting "Baldy! One of them was lucky enough to get Lowton’s shirt at the end

Re: Pitchside v Wigan
The presumption here is they are listening to rap, rock etc.
Maybe they are listening to a personalized focus routine designed by their performance coach?
