If you’ve watched the others it’s probably not worth bothering with.
How many times can one man be interviewed about the same stuff without it being tedious!

Re: Another Dyche Interview, this with Ben Foster (Fozcast)
I feared the worst when the snippet at the beginning had Dyche buffawing at the ‘strip tease’ and the ‘wheel of fortune’.
However, I stuck with it and found it a good watch with some new tidbits I’d not heard of before.

Re: Another Dyche Interview, this with Ben Foster (Fozcast)
Just seen a snippet of his interview now with Foster.
Dyche was lamenting the fact the board wouldn’t stretch the budget, which appears to be a common theme throughout the range of interviews he has recently done.
I/we will be forever grateful for what Dyche has done for us, but i sincerely hope he doesn’t spin this narrative too much to the point that it leaves a bit of a sour taste.

He needs a job. I’m getting a little fed up of him going over the same stuff. I’ve the greatest respect for him and loved what he did for our club but he needs to move on.

If you have listened to 1 there really is no need to listen to another.
If the guy is asked the same questions by 20 different people it shouldn't surprise anyone that you hear the same answers. It is like watching the same film over and over again then whinging you knew what was going to happen.
People want to talk to Dyche, he is a good talker and no doubt boost the hosts audience figures.

I love listening to him talking about football. Like the tactical video the other week. But I don't warm to him when he's trying to be laddish. Comes across as slightly arrogant. Think it's a Kettering East Midlands thing. Their idea of banter is quite different.

Worth watching despite the ladish stuff for his views on the players notably Defour, Marney and the goalkeepers.burnleymik wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 4:31 pmhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z63j-x1-Qew&ab
Just seen this, haven't had chance to watch yet.

It’s hardly ‘spinning a narrative’ is it, it’s a well known fact backed up by the evidence of transfer windows in Dyche’s last few seasons.TsarBomba wrote: ↑Thu Sep 22, 2022 11:38 pmJust seen a snippet of his interview now with Foster.

It's his version of events.
Some managers have to generate their budgets because they don't have a sugar-daddy type of chairman.
Re: Another Dyche Interview, this with Ben Foster (Fozcast)
Seems reasonable that Dyche now highlights the financial constraints he had to operate under. What was much less reasonable was his public criticisms of Garlick while he was in the job.

Re: Another Dyche Interview, this with Ben Foster (Fozcast)
A question i would like to see posed to Sean Dyche :
If the board were not forthcoming with cash to fund your plans, could you have done more to generate funds yourself? Think selling Kean and having Tarky already to take his place. Obviously this would require a shift in his previous recruitment strategy, ie signing players that had the potential to generate resale value and not experienced pros at the tail end of their careers who at the end of the contract would have no value in the transfer market.

Perhaps but I imagine Mr Garlick would, in that scenario, simply have added the incoming money from the sale of Keane to the locked-up cash mountain.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 10:32 amA question i would like to see posed to Sean Dyche :

Re: Another Dyche Interview, this with Ben Foster (Fozcast)
The club spent all Keane and Gray money on new incomings, the summer of 2018 was the catalyst for change in that the none of the new signings replaced what we had in the starting 11 permanently, meaning that there was an end to selling of a 'star' with a replacement already in place. The club spent £33m that year on player acquisition (having spent (£43.5m the year before courtesy of the previous player sales) and saw no reward for the investment in terms of onward sales. This was the moment the model effectively broke. soon after Mike Rigg was appointed, and things took a different turn - though it is interesting to recently hear Dyche talk about Rigg in a reasonably positive mannerStalbansclaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 11:49 amPerhaps but I imagine Mr Garlick would, in that scenario, simply have added the incoming money from the sale of Keane to the locked-up cash mountain.

I can only surmise he's decided he's rich enough to NOT need to go back into management, and he can get his soccer-fix through punditry.... and this is his advert to Sky/BBC/NBC etc

Re: Another Dyche Interview, this with Ben Foster (Fozcast)
He was great for us but started to believe his own publicity!
He was stubborn and unfortunately not very brave when it came to being flexible.
Why does he never talk about Norwich and Brentford away and the total tactical disasters they were!! Whatever went on at Norwich was the final straw for both players and the board.

Is he looking for a job in football management?
I doubt it until the pay-off runs out.

Let it go, let it go, he can't hold us back anymore.
If you've listened to one of his post Burnley interviews you've listened to them all.
They're getting as repetitive and tiresome as his post match ones after failing to trouble any goal keepers never mind score in the major 6 pointers he let us down in.

The one thing I've never liked about him is his contempt for "normal people". I'm not sure if he means it or even knows it, but I just get such arrogant vibes from him in these interviews.
When he's talking about the specifics of football and leadership though, it's usually a good listen.

Re: Another Dyche Interview, this with Ben Foster (Fozcast)
I thought the same when watching that KSR. Seemed to take too much pleasure in being dismissive of people who approach him in the street. People do say daft stuff because they will be nervous meeting someone famous but are generally just trying to make conversation. Maybe he was just trying to be funny and it came out the wrong way but he seemed very dismissive of people who try to engage with him.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 10:48 pmThe one thing I've never liked about him is his contempt for "normal people". Not sure if anyone else noticed it but even in this interview I thought he was very different in how he engaged with Ben Foster compared to the other bloke. Like he was a bit off hand with the non-football fella.

I started doubting him when the Tottenham at home game was postponed, appearing on the pitch, no jacket, look at me,I'd have played, tough skin head me etc. Greatest manager in my life but in danger of spoiling his legacy.

Agree with the consensus - he’s a really good listen when he’s talking tactics and stuff. If he can get a gig on Monday Night Football with Neville and Carragher or something, excellent. These ‘lad’ interviews with Keys, Foster, Lad Bible etc are a bit jarring.

As much as I disliked the football in the last few years I'd rather sit in a pub and listen to Dyche than Borediola or Kilppety Klopp
Re: Another Dyche Interview, this with Ben Foster (Fozcast)
I love Dyche. Best Burnley manager in my lifetime.
I think picking Defour as his best player to manage is an advert to other clubs that he can manage the cultured foreign player not just the ‘4-4-2 British player’. I thought he’d always said Trippier in the past.

Re: Another Dyche Interview, this with Ben Foster (Fozcast)
What strikes me at listening to his podcasts is "how old school" he is as a manager. Hugely influenced by people who he has played with him over the years, and by managers like Brian Clough. It served him very well at BFC for the first 7 years of his nine and a half years. It made him wise to getting the best-fits for Burnley and got the very best out of the team, as evidenced by our stay in the PL with a net spend of £60m.He did run out of ideas though and there was only ever going to be one result with the team and himself.
He needs to find himself a club soon, probably in the Championship, as I think he will stagnate, and whoever employs him will show him significantly less loyalty than BFC did . One thing he can do as well as any PL manager, is to make his teams hard to beat, but that comes at a cost, in that you utilise the majority of your team to get behind the ball. Not sure how many PL club's fans would tolerate this and I have realised with the arrival of VK, and even with the short stint of Michael Jackson, SD is too set in his ways for a PL club

Re: Another Dyche Interview, this with Ben Foster (Fozcast)
He actually said Defour was the best player he has ever managed rather than best player to manage. I would agree with that based on his time with us Defour had more quality than any other player. I think he probably still thinks that Trippier was the best player to manage but that wasn’t the question he was asked.LAM wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 8:17 amI love Dyche. Brilliant manager for Burnley who stuck to his principles a season too long. Some incredibly ungrateful Burnley posters who thankfully don't reflect the popular opinion among fans
