Re: Dahmer
He’s up there with my favourite serial killers, they certainly don’t make them like that anymore.
Just watched the first episode. It’s refreshing seeing his motives from his perspective and getting an insight to how he ticked, rather then a brief history of their crimes though the eyes of a lead detective or his survivors.
That was my issue with the Des ITV series. It was just Tennent doing an impression from the tapes Dennis Nilsen created. Though it creeped my partner out that I knew the script line for line as we watched it together with perfect delivery.
This looks good so far

I don’t do pedos - they’re just monsters, horrible. Same with mass shooters and suicide bombers. They don’t make my list

Fred West for me. Seemed the sort of guy you could go for a pint with. Just don’t go round to his after. Decent builder too by all accounts.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 2:50 amHe’s up there with my favourite serial killers, they certainly don’t make them like that anymore.

Re: Dahmer
I’m sure that some of our posters remember the fear that Sutcliffe caused for the women of Burnley and beyond. The murders took place very close to home and my mum was fearful of being out on her own after dark during that horrible time.
Just saying, like.

Re: Dahmer
Not going to watch it.
This sort of thing should just get a blanket ban by sky, Netflix etc etc.
It's not that putting violence on TV will induce people to commit violence. The issue is that f'd up fame wannabees can see that if they go around behaving like this that they get drama series etc made about them.

Re: Dahmer
I know his numbers weren’t great, but for melodrama, attention to detail and the fact that he was never caught….the daddy must be Jack The Ripper.
Re: Dahmer
So you’d ban all things that make you feel uncomfortable? Well that would make Telly interesting. Constant repeats of Corrie etc.timshorts wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 9:14 amNot going to watch it.

Re: Dahmer
Anyone interested in serial killers should read the best novel in the genre, and I'm not talking about 'Red Dragon'. 'Silent Terror', by James Ellroy, or to give it the title Ellroy originally wanted which was used when the book was reissued, 'Killer on the Road'. It is a brilliantly written book, the killer's narrative being delivered in the first person. The last line stayed with me for an age.

Serial killers being turned into content is absolutely ghoulish. What goes through your mind to enjoy the frame-for-frame recreation of a psychotic man murdering a 14 year old?

The victims are usually young and it’s often driven by sickening sexual perversion.daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 1:09 pmSerial killers being turned into content is absolutely ghoulish. I read The Red Ripper by Peter Conradi a few months ago. It's well worth reading if you are into this kind of stuff. Its also interesting because of the Soviet Union angle.
