Could Kompany leave this season?
https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/opini ... ing-start/
Never really crossed my mind that he could leave this season, but it's not really a ridiculous idea. I'm bloody hoping he doesn't, but I suppose he might.
Where the hell would we be without him???

It's mostly his team, and he was his USP as to why some of them are here - can't see him leaving this season.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
Leave now and it looks like he's willing to jump ship at the earliest opportunity.
But the summer, who knows.
One thing's for sure, Premier League manager positions are going to open two or three times a season. I don't I think seeing us through to the summer is going to dent his chances.

From that article......... "The Clarets are in a fairly strong financial position, especially since their change of ownership,"

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
He's a high profile manager for us, and can attract players we'd not normally be able to attract, but who in the premier league is really going to get sucked in by Vincent Kompany?
Bournemouth and Forest level players, maybe, but there are equally great footballing legends at Aston Villa and Everton who aren't having the best of times, so beyond his big name status what has he done in 3 months of games to warrant poaching?
He takes us up, he keeps us up, he moves on to someone richer like West Ham or Newcastle. He fails to take us up then he's arguably failed his first test, so either stays with us or ends up at a relegated bigger club like Southampton.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
If he takes us up and stays another season he will then have to prove himself as a Premier League Manager. His wife is from Manchester and one of the reasons he was keen for a North West Club. So unless its a big North West Club I'm not sure he would want to leave us. What greater satisfaction than building a team from scratch and watching them compete in the Premier League.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
If he sees himself as the next (or next next) Man City manager he might do well to have a think about Steven Gerrard's current chances of being the next Liverpool manager as he was touted.
Anyway, can't see a move that would be good for him to a club that has been persuaded he's the man by 14 games of Championship football.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
He would have to be at Owen Coyle levels of foolishness to leave when he is on the verge of developing an attractive young team with us. Of course, everyone has a price but his CV will look a lot better for having been a success in the Championship.
And the financial bit is nonsense as well.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
I’d ignore anything the ‘Football League World’ says about basically anything.
Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
It would go against what he's been saying if he went so soon. He's said it's a long-term project and he's on I think a 4-year contract. I think he'll take us up this season and then stay another couple of seasons in the Prem.
Whoever the next manager is though, I would love it to be someone who can keep us playing this style of football. 2 years in the Prem and we may have the pulling power to bring in someone who could do it.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
Hope so, because that would mean he’s taken us up and established us as a mid table PL team who try to play football.
I feel there may be another job between us and city, espesh if we don’t go up this season.
Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
Promotion this season followed by a mid table in Prem and he will become very hot property for sure

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
if he takes us up and keeps us up his stock is already good. There will be no "but he's "only" the manager of Burnley nonsense, it will be seen as an apprenticeship served. I'm with Vegas here, his next stop is Citeh, unless we're heading back down (assuming we're up), in the next couple of seasons, in which case he will jump ship to an intermediate opportunity

Obviously a quiet week for any real news worthy items - so lets go the speculate to accumulate nonesense
Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
It's rubbish as he has already said promotion isn't the aim this year. Bellamy said in his interview that they would take promotion if it came, but would prefer next year as we would have more chance of staying up.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
Got to remember that he had 'better' options on paper than us when he was considering his next move.
From what we have been told, he saw the project and opportunity with us. He seems transparent in his communication and authentic in what he says. I think he sees that he will be backed and supported and that we give our managers time and patience etc. Pace seems to have left a good impression on him and he seems aware of all the realities of the club.
Given the reasons he came to us in the first place seem to have been justified and to have had probably the best start he could have hoped for it would make any decision to abandon the project in the first 12 months very odd indeed

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
He has a project here and control of things. Still learning his trade as a manager. If he takes us us and keeps us up he will have proved something. No reason why he couldn’t go straight from us to Man City I’d he does does really well with us. We will give him time too unlike some impatient PL clubs.

his family are all settled in Manchester, anything South of Manchester is too far and anything North of Burnley is also beyond the distance we are willing to let him travel
He also has a 4 or 5 year contract so his intention is to stay

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
FWIW my opinion, not a chance. I think he needs to build something to big up his CV, and he’s made a decent start. Obviously, the cups aren’t handed out in October, and I really feel IF he gets us up this season, he will want to stay and consolidate in the Premiership for a couple of years, then he has success on his CV, and could possibly move on up. As I stated, only my opinion.
Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
I'm not sure I agree that he could jump straight from us to City. It's a hell of a step from Burnley to one of the biggest clubs in the world, who are hoping to win the Champions league every year.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
You can never be certain of anything in modern footy, however I genuinely can't see VK leaving us for pastures new this season.
He seems to understand he's taken on a long-term project, and if he jumped ship at the first opportunity that wouldn't reflect well on him at all.
I see no reason why we can't enjoy him for 2-3 years minimum we all know he won't be here forever, but he'd be taking a big gamble to take on another job this soon especially when things are going swimmingly at TM right now.
Graham Potter is a prime example of someone who worked his way up the leagues then got his big move to Chelsea. Absolutely no reason Vincent Kompany can't do likewise, and he is still an incredibly young manger let's not forget so time is definitely on his side.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
Will Vincent Kompany leave Burnley, definitely.
Will he leave this season - no. He wants to get promoted with Burnley and the players he has chosen.
Bellamy has stated that next year might be too early, that's 100 % true. We haven't a bean to spend ( Premier league money) in order to compete.
V K won't want to struggle in the P L. He doesn't need to do that or prove himself, he's already doing that.
I think he will be off to a champions league team next season such as Milan, Juventus or Marseille.

Crikey, we may have had a decent start but it's still only October and VK is now on his way to a club in the Premier league. Reminiscent of all of the Dyche to '.....' every time a manager got canned.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
What an absolute load of tosh that article is, just one man's musings, nothing based in reality.
Kompany is here for a while, beyond this season. Probably three years I would guess at if all goes as planned, promotion, staying up, building further.
I personally believe Kompany the type of man who wouldn't just leave us in the lurch, or the youngsters he has brought in, he has persuaded them to come, uproot, young kids in a new country.
I also think he the type of person to put plans in place for the eventuality of him leaving, possible names, targets for manager that would allow us to keep the same style. I really do believe he has bought into the club, town, culture and thinks fondly of us

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
We here a lot of this "stepping stone" argument about managers. Do well here, then onto a Villa, Everton or West Ham and then onto one of the big boys. Very rarely works out that way. More often than not those mid range clubs are a management graveyard. Higher expectations but unlikely to actually challenge for silverware. You're much better off over achieving at a smaller club as Potter did at Brighton.duncandisorderly wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 4:41 pmHe's a high profile manager for us, and can attract players we'd not normally be able to attract, but who in the premier league is really going to get sucked in by Vincent Kompany?

Well yes., but didn't Brighton poach Potter from Swansea? They were pretty much in the same position then as we are now.welsbyswife wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 8:54 pmWe here a lot of this "stepping stone" argument about managers. Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
Yep. But that's not my point. My point is more about this myth that some people pedal that you go from smaller Premier League team, to medium sized team and then to a big 6 team.
Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
No. But he could before the start of the next one.
Maybe 2nd in line for the City job now and that will help

Personally I think VK has far more to gain by getting us promoted than going to a mid to lower Premier League team. As we have seen, it's just a grind for most of them.

VK is the same mould as Pep G.
They will both see out their contracts...so no ....VK is here for next 36 months....at least ....maybe longer if we get UEFA spot in 2026!

This next Pep talk is bull. Arteta, Vieira are also probably in the running and in the thoughts of the owners at City, plus there is the Celtic manager who has worked for the group of clubs City own and is very highly rated by them
Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
Of course he could but he won’t.

Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
VK has stated on a number of occasions that he's here for the long haul. Burnley will be a good apprenticeship for him and I'd like to think he'll stay for a minimum of 3 seasons. He is in a good place with a club with ambitions to return to the top division. As long as he maintains the support from AP, I don't see the status quo changing anytime soon.
Re: Could Kompany leave this season?
And this is how news websites get their visitors - from being controversial.
A poorly written article, with no basis of fact only opinion and it's talked about resulting in more traffic and ad clicks.

Mrs Kompany might have a say in the matter. should any offer come in. Perhaps one of the reasons he came to us in the first place was getting the family closer to home. That is how things are.
