Bramall Lane

Post by jedi_master » Sat Nov 05, 2022 4:06 pm

My least favourite ground, even though it’s excellent.

The atmosphere gets on top of you, we always seem to lose and it’s generally a fixture I dread. I couldn’t go today as had no childcare option, but working with a ton of Blades in Chesterfield is hard work generally after a visit here. Does anyone else actively fear this game or is it just me? I’ve been four times and we’ve lost every game, generally playing terribly (2019 being the worst I think, though Gazza waddling about half cut in 2002 is up there).

I've never seen us win there. Only ti e I can remember we did was when we went up under Coyle (and that was om the radio).

It's a great ground for the home team and a nightmare for the opposition

The only win I can think of is the Coyle promotion season? Tbf I normally enjoy going, proper, traditional ground with train station and plenty of pubs close by.

Been 6 times and seen us lose 6 times. Not a happy hunting ground.

Their fans were silent first half. Unfortunately we allowed them back in straight away in the second half and from there it was an uphill battle with their fans well up for it.

Yes, their fans make a massive difference. It’s a very tight and intimidating ground. The nature of the loss was not inevitable, but the defeat itself felt that way when they scored so soon after H/T. A bit like the win against Rotherham felt that way after Benson had scored.

Patterson. That's it. Nothing else good has happened there.

We have played 64 matches at Bramall Lane and won just 6 so no surprise in suffering our 39th defeat today ----always been one of those grounds!
We have played them 65 times at the Turf and they have won just 14 and will be due their 39th defeat in the return fixture later in the season.

First time I've been back since our 2-2 FA Cup draw nearly 30 years ago. Their fans were practically silent in the first half but came alive with their team. The Blades fans we mingled with before and after the game were a good bunch, as they were at Wembley in my experience.

Claretspice's player ratings post largely summed up how I felt about the performance. I fear next weekend is going to be tough, today was the blueprint for how to beat us, and whilst I am optimistic that we will learn and address issues through tactics and selection, some of those frailties may need the January window before they are fully resolved.

We need Jay back, give Tella a rest and stick with Benson in the starting 11. Muric needs the same treatment that Benson got in training and I think he will come good. He needs toughening up but with our support from the terraces.

Didn’t we draw or win in the cup against them. I went, must of been about 15 at the time- think it was Inchys debut and another striker that we had signed- can’t remember who that was…
Hopefully someone will remind me.

That was a big day out at a big stadium against a big team- proper cup game. Easy to forget how privileged we have been for the last 15 years

Same season but Inchy made his debut at Stockport away. I was at the Bramhall Lane away fa cup game that season too!
We took a fair few thousand. All the stands behind the goal and part of the big home stand....kick off delayed 15 minutes. Inchy scored a worldly and had a battle with Adrian LittleJohn. Lost the return unfortunately but that was a fair game too.
Great atmosphere that day.

Another one here who was there when we won 5th? Round of the cup in 1962. A 1-0 win with John Angus clearing of the line from Derick Pace, I think.

I've seen us win twice there. 0-2 in 1973/74 I think with Doug Collins scoring one of them and under Coyle when Eagles scored that cracker. I also was there when we drew 2-2 on a frozen pitch in the FA Cup. I think it was Brian Dean who won the replay for them. Another big CF who we couldn't handle :(

Seen us win twice 1973 and 2008 with the Eagles goal.

Drove past Hillsborough on the way in and what a **** tip that looks these days.

Bramall Lane is a proper stadium although they could do to visit Turf Moor to take some advice on branding, we are light years ahead of them in that department as the Lane is looking grubby and dated

Turf is looking excellent these days. The screens and the graphics prematch are brilliant.
