Muric 7 decent passing, very little to do
Vitinho 8 I was worried about his defending, needn't have worried
Harwood Bellis 9 rolls royce
Beyer 8 absolute quality
Maatsen 7 attacked well
Cullen 8 tidy
Cork 8 bullied them
Brownhill 9 vital, he must drive opponents mad
Zaroury 8 in and out, but stepped up
Benson 8 as above
Barnes 8 looked up for it.

Subs:
Tella 9 really made a big difference
Taylor 8 solid, exactly what was needed.

Muric 7
Vitinho 8...did really well today especially as Diaz was often up against him on that side
THB 9.....solid and effectively our playmaker a lot of the time. Maybe goes for the Hollywood pass a bit too much but hey who cares today ?!
Beyer 8
Maatsen 6.....didnt bomb on as much as usual and still bit sloppy with the ball at times which is infuriating
Cork 8
Cullen 9....brilliant. Kante-like today.
Brownhill 8
Benson 7...they doubled up on him but he still threatened at times . Delivery a touch wayward today though.
Zaroury 8...bit quiet in the first half but THAT cross..just wow ! Brilliant composed finish for his goal too. What a player !!!!
Barnes 9....very happy for him. Cemented his legend status today. The way he put the keeper in the net when he scored the first was most excellent !

Tella 8....very, very good

Not sure I have ever given Ash a 10 before but he bullied them off the park, could have had 4, and was the Ash of old. Doesn’t have the craft for this team but he was perfect for 10 years of Dyche and is a Premier League player. What a swansong.

As for them, what a game to cement our title, because barring disaster (like VK poached or an injury crisis) it is ours. We are the Fulham of this season. We should be on 50+ points let’s be fair and we aren’t close to half way. 15 points dropped from winning positions? Back to them, just spent an hour (and fell asleep but it was great fun) reading their forum, total despair doesn’t cover it, that is what convinces me this is our league. They moan about playing out from the back but, as with NCFC when they tried it 3 years ago in the PL, they simply aren’t good enough to do it. We are.

They set up defensive for a derby and tried to be stable, but we went after them from the start and even had to rein our enthusiasm in by the end to avoid a sending off, that 2nd half was just making hay, so many chances I was hoarse by the end. All in all, it was a night mare for them. 12 years and counting.

Muric 8 Based almost solely on his distribution as other than Brereton Diaz firing a shot right at him he had nothing to do. Amazing that apparently their xg was 0 in the first half

Vitinho. 7. Based on the first half it would have been 6 as he gave the ball away far too easily, but tightened up in the second and played well

Harwood Bellis 8. Imperious

Beyer 8. Retrieved a couple of potentially dangerous situations and used the ball well

Maatsen 7. Obviously under instructions not to over-commit himself. Defended well and used the ball intelligently

Cork. 9. He managed the game brilliantly

Cullen 9. Best I have seen him play. He is our metronome. He also competed really well and was clearly up for it.

Benson 7. Heavily marshalled and difficult for him in the first half as Rovers doubled up on him. Crossing a bit wayward at times. Showed what he can do just before he was taken off!

Brownhill 9. Our most under-rated player. Week in week out he is superb. Boy how we missed him last week! Sublime part in the third goal

Zaroury 9. Not much joy in the first half but as the game opened up he came into his own. Brilliant cross for the first and when I saw the rebound from Barnes volley was falling to him I just knew it was a goal

Barnes 9. Like the Barnes of old. So pleased for him that he has joined the exalted club of those scoring two in a game v Rovers. Tony will correct me if I am wrong but was Willie Irvine the last player to score 2 in a league game against them? Variation on the song? ‘Who put the keeper in the B******s net?’

Tella 8. His introduction was the killer blow. He pestered their back line to death and what a flick in the build up to the second goal. Good to see him back to his best

Muric 7 - one good save but very composed distribution

Vitinho 7 - gave the ball away a little too cheaply on occasions but did well to recover some situations and kept it fairly solid down his side.
THB 8 - Excellent performance and superb distribution.
Beyer 8 - As above. Played his role well and shackled their forwards.
Maatsen 8 - a little quiet in the first half but really came to the fore in the second half. Great energy.

Cullen 8 - very experienced and bright display from him.
Cork 8 - as with Cullen, knew he was the best midfielder on the pitch and played like it.
Brownhill 8 - great energy, tireless running, winning the ball back, getting involved in attacks - all action.

Benson 8 - whilst not everything came off they were frightened to death of him and he was always a threat.
Zaroury 8 - quiet first half but they couldn’t handle him in the second half. Incredible cross for the first goal and the composure and technique showed to control the finish for the his goal was sensational.
Barnes 8 - REALLY pleased for him! He’s been nothing but a model pro this season - even though he hasn’t played much or when he has played things haven’t really gone to plan. He played the perfect, mature game yesterday. Was aggressive when needed and gave us a presence up front.

Tella 8 - Amazing what a weeks rest can do. He looked really fresh and was bouncing round the pitch. They couldn’t handle him! Had an important hand in the second and third goals and created numerous other chances. A joy to watch.

I was thinking about this last night. Most of those points dropped were earlier on in the season as well, we seem to be on an upward trajectory in terms of ppg. we should be on about 50 points I think. If we get Twine, Westwood and Churlinov back fit and sign a striker, I'd say that only Sheff Utd could stand in our way.

One game at a time and all that but I think the only thing that can stop us is complacency.

The Sheff Utd game was our Hull (A)

Muric 6 - Not much to do but made an important save at 0-0.
Vitinho 6 - Supported Benson well. Defensively fine.
Harwood-Bellis 8 - Solid, some lovely play out of the back.
Beyer 8 - Solid, some lovely play out from the back
Maatsen 6 - Supported Zaroury well. Defensively fine.
Cork 8 - Commanding performance in the middle of the park. Kept us ticking.
Brownhill 8 - Solid and got up and down the pitch well. Good work for second goal.
Cullen 8 - Constantly harassing them out of possession and orchestrating play when he got the ball.
Zaroury 9 - Always threatened and pushed to get a ball in the box. Delivery for Barnes was astounding.
Benson 8- Constantly looked to take on his man and attack. Positive and direct.
Barnes 9 - His best game in a long time. Didn't thrown himself down to the ground constantly trying to win fouls, just played and made a nuisance of himself. Linked well, made clever intelligent movement.

From tv
Muric 7 nothing to do, but excellent distribution
Vitinho 7 did well defensively
THB 8 outstanding
Beyer 8 majestic
Maatsen 7 didn t get forward as much as normal and still gives the ball away at times
Cork 8 Rolls Royce performance
Cullen 9 his best performance for us, I love to see him in the final third
Brownhill 9 he was non stop in their face the whole game, great work rate
Benson 7 good first half then stepped up a gear in the second
Zaroury 9 that second half performance was exceptional, what a talent
Barnes 9 mom just shows what he can do when he's not throwing himself to the ground all the time. He turned the clock back 4 years

Tella 8 involved in every attack after he came on.
I've watched Burnley regularly for 68 years, that was as good as it gets.

Muric 7 Good save at nil nil, otherwise untroubled and a clean sheet

Vitinho 7 Untroubled worked well with Benson.
Harwood-Bellis 8 solid very few balls into the middle of the park this week, so learning fast. Carries the ball well and unlucky not to score.
Beyer 8 Unfussy does his job and does it well again carried the ball out well.
Maatsen 7 Going forward great, defensively ok got knocked about once or twice by BBD

Cork 7 just did Jack Cork things
Brownhill 7 great assist good energy all game, knew what the game meant and that smile when he came over to the longside to take a throw five minutes from the end was priceless.
Cullen 9 That player in a team that just gets on with the job and that you don’t really notice simply because he is so good at what he does
Zaroury 8 had a lot of quiet spells where things didn’t quite come off, but when they do what a player. Dynamite is this kid.
Benson 7 Quieter game today, didn’t bring his shooting boots either

Barnes⭐️ 9 Vintage Barnes, buccaneering and shithousery of the highest order, put him back in his box and bring out for the return fixture.

Tella 7 Good touches and movement, worked hard and created when he came on.

Coming late to this due to lack of time. Watched the game on TV.

I never usually give everybody 10 but I'm going to this time because:

- It was a win against Rovers.
- It was an emphatic win against Rovers
- We could have scored more.
- We played some damn good football. The third goal, had Barnsey's shot not been, deflected would have had MOTD/Sky/BT pundits purring.

Muric - 10
Vitinho - 10
THB - 10
Beyer - 10
Maatsen - 10
Cullen - 10
Cork - 10
Brownhill - 10
Benson - 10
Barnes - 10
Zahoury - 10

Tella - 10

Only three of the starting 11 were at TM before last summer but everybody knew what this game meant to the fans and the town. They all played well IMO some very well. Several players could have been MOTM but got to go for Barnsey. He was looking sharp from the off with that effort that went out for a corner. He did exactly what he had to and then scored a poacher's goal getting in between two defenders to head home. It was his shot that led to the second and then showed great skill to bag the his second.
