Sounds and looks like a really exciting player if we can pull it off.

He's a tall strong lad with decent pace, he only signed for his current club six month's ago on a four year deal so this will cost us

Most excited I’ve been about a signing since Defour.

Sounds positive regarding Foster - said previously he looks very raw to me from the limited video clips but he's clearly very quick and powerful and has some ability to carry the ball, and those are very sought after commodities.

Regarding Hadziahmetovic - he's clearly a very interesting player and would be a really exciting signing should we seal it, but I think we have to bear in mind that we only hear about those potential signings that find their way into the media. Even in this day and age, as some of our summer business showed, there's plenty that does not leak. He's probably one of 4 or 5 players we're targeting in that position (another, the lad at Reims, has already surfaced as a rumour) and the better the calibre of player you target, the more danger there is that you get usurped by bigger clubs. Besiktas and Galatasaray are bigger clubs by any measure whether we like it or not, and so we might miss out. But it doesn't mean we shouldn't push to sign players of his calibre (if indeed he's that good) if we think we've got a chance.

Yes it is, and like others have said if Sacha has said it, its legit. Also worth noting while at the match Kompany met Westerloos coach in person he is good friends with him and KRC Genks coach respectively

Looks like last season that.

Nothing from this season unless you go through Westerlo's YouTube channel and watch match highlights (when he's scored).

Scored 2 in this game, watch from 1:40

Shows extreme pace for his first.

2300 hrs 31st January isn't it? That's nearer two weeks, or to be more precise but not exact, even when using a clock with partial disabilities, 12 days 11 hours.
Sorry, didn't explain myself, I mean another week of posturing until decisions are made, most deals happens in the last few days as clubs, agents and players play the game of getting the best deals for themselves.

New number eighteen incoming. Which isn't a scoop, just think Foster or Hadziahmetovic will wear eighteen.

I'm relatively relaxed about needing both - it'd be great to do that business of course, but I'd rather one top signing now and we can wait till the summer, where hopefully promotion is confirmed, to fill the other role - particularly in midfield where the premium is not quite so great. We might need two strikers in the summer so bringing one in now is essential.

I know we've lost Westwood, but apart from the main 3, we've still got Bastien and Egan-Riley who can play in those holding roles, and Twine and JBG who can play the more advanced role, so we're not short of cover. if we can do good business, great, but I don't think it's the end of the world if we don't.

‘Reveals: Djurgården and Burnley agree on the framework for a transfer regarding Hjalmar Ekdal. The price tag lands at around SEK 30 million and Ekdal is expected to fly to England during the evening to complete the move. 🤝🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I think this signing of Ekdal suggests 1. McNally and Egan-Riley to be loaned out 2. VK might not fancy Taylor at centre half for the next few months.

Ekdal is 24 and a Swedish international, can't see him coming to twiddle his thumbs. Plus there is Al-Dakhil in the wings. Interesting anyway.

Should also help with the panic on here about 3 out of the back 4 being on loan and we will have no players next season

Yeah, we can't rely on the summer transfer window to get all our players in, so we have to be proactive in this one

I think it does throw a bit of a blow to the idea that THB/Beyer could join permanently though

Never been convinced of the idea that THB would be here next year, certainly not in a permanent sense. Beyer it was reported had the option to buy but BMG seemed to pour cold water on that as well. It’s only Maatsen of the three loans at the back that seems to be mentioned with regards to the club looking at buying outright (The Athletic) so doing some serious business on recruiting centre backs makes sense.

Worth the risk though, and its nice to see us being so proactive in the transfer market

We're going from "We're Burnley not Barcelona"
to "We are Burnley".
We don't need any comparisons anymore.
VK is assembling a quality squad for an established and prolonged stay in the EPL.

Hopefully these two done and dusted today and possibly a 3rd over the next few days making it four in total, not bad for a January window.

I think we will look to sign Beyer in the summer depending on fee, I’d imagine we would try to get THB back on loan or on a perm deal with a good buy back clause for city. Egan Riley don’t think will ever be a CB, either a RB or CDM

So much for Pace’s recent interview stating we don’t really need to bring anyone in over January  (not that I’m complaining)
We may not need players, but in his heart he knows no player will not want to jump aboard HMS **** the league. Next member to board…..Obefemi

I doubt he'd have come out and told everybody we need a striker. Saying we don't need to bring anyone in was partly true as we'd still be promoted anyway, but also makes us seem less needy to other clubs.

I’m not convinced on Obafemi. Had a good half a season, but if anyone has earned some credit in the bank for bringing in players it’s VK and his team.

I agree though that I don’t think it’s either or, I think we could end up bringing both in and terminating Dervi… to help balance the wage bill. The accountants might well want to get shut of Barnes but I think he’s going to be invaluable to keep around until the end of the season.
