Can’t put an exact date on it, but judging by the smiles on people’s faces I would have to place this as pre-Brexit.

It is the use of the Union flag that gives it away.

Pre 1992.

After that the unique machines that made them and tartan paint were obsolete.

Lighten up Steve pal, I’m just trying to help. I established it was pre-2020 and another poster has since narrowed it down further to pre-1992 so we’re getting somewhere.

Not saying I am certain but I reckon it’s earlier than the Orient game.
The Union Flag was more prominent throughout the 80’s more so around the time of the Falklands. So will go for 1982.

Google image search takes you to the Lancashire Telegraph website which says May 1982.

That picture is in one of my Burnley books can't recall which and the caption for it states it's Crewe away 1987 game before the Orient game.Though I couldn't swear to it but one of my old mates Clarkey is in the picture

If it is 1982 then it would have to be the Chesterfield game

I'd disagree with that re the Union Flag. Just watch one of the recent series on Italia '90 to see him many Union Flags there were compared to St George's.

A great picture from the Orient game of a section of the Longside that was predominantly chaps who travelled home and away, and had a fondness for a smart jumper or tracksuit top. Many a recognisable face in there. Wouldn’t want to go through that again though.

Pretty sure it's Orient as others have said. I was there. My mother stupidly threw my program out in a cleaning frenzy! Seem to recall seeing this picture in the papers.
