So if your hand is in an unnatural position and doesn't touch the ball it's a yellow??

Re: Red Card
Roberts was just using his hand as leverage, perfectly natural, my only criticism is that he should have palmed the ball over the bar instead of back into the danger zone.
Re: Red Card
The only thing that could have been more erroneous than a red card was a yellow card.

It's the latest whacky novelty account.

Does anyone have a link to close up footage of the point at which Roberts is supposed to have handled it?

A handball of A DOGO (denial of goal scoring opportunity ) is a red.

Re: Red Card
It hit crossbar, not his hand. It is not a freekick or a red. The standard of championship refs is shocking, I have seen better refs at my son's under 9 games.
Re: Red Card
But in real time you could see why a penalty was given as Roberts clearly made an attempt to stop the ball going into the net with his hand.mybloodisclaret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 11:20 amIt hit crossbar, not his hand. Re: Red Card
I don't disagree. It looked a peno, my comment was more about that another shocking performance by a ref. He was bad throughout.
Re: Red Card
And the ref was only following advice from his linesman
The ref did not make the decision - merely supported his assistant who was never going to change his mind in real time

Video evidence shows / (proves beyond doubt) that Roberts committed no offence at all, let alone a red card offence.
Are we going to start suspending players for non-offences??

Re: Red Card
But he couldn't reach it, and the referee - just a matter of yards away, (not sat in the stands), should have seen that.
Let's suppose that in similar circumstance the goalkeeper dived to save the ball but it hit the bar and went over. Presumably it would be ok for the referee to give a corner?
He should be seeing the difference between the ball hitting the bar and the keeper saving it.
At a rough guess, Roberts hand was a good foot below the ball. If the ref can't see this and is taking advice from an assistant then he shouldn't be getting paid for the job.

We could really do without a bogus suspension for Connor what with Vitinho’s injury.

Re: Red Card
But it didn’t touch his arm so why would it be a yellow card?Hurstwood_Claret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 4:17 pmEarth.
the only scope for a yellow is that his arm was in a unnatural position.
He could walk around like a zombie with both arm outstretched in front of him if he wanted too. If the ball doesn’t hit the arms there is no offence
Re: Red Card
It can be in a supernatural position, he can do a helicopter twirl with his arms, as long as the ball does not hit the arm then it’s completely irrelevantHurstwood_Claret wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 4:17 pmEarth.

Surely you can hold your arms and hands in any position provided that the ball doesn't hit them.

But (I think) ‘attempted’ handball isn’t an offence. The offence occurs when the ball is touched.
