In my 54 years of supporting the Clarets I've experienced some particularly dismal Christmas results- in fact, it was almost acceptable that this would always be the case.
This makes a very pleasant change.

In 1979 we beat Wrexham 21st Dec.Newcastle on Boxing Day then Notts County away on the 29th but lost at Shrewsbury on NYD.Does that count? But we got relegated that season

'61/'62 was just a little bit interesting.
From Boxing Day we won all three, 2 x League and 1 FA Cup, scoring just a mere 16 goals in the process.

My recollection as well, even in seasons we were going well, you could almost guarantee we'd be crap over Xmas.dougcollins wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 6:52 pmIn my 54 years of supporting the Clarets I've experienced some particularly dismal Christmas results- in fact, it was almost acceptable that this would always be the case.

Re: Last time 3 wins over Xmas?
I stand to be corrected, as it only goes up to 2007, but the last one I can find in " Clarets Chronicles " is 1989-90 ....
26/12 - Carlisle ( H ) W 2-1 ( Futcher, Jakub )
30/12 - Halifax ( H ) W 1-0 ( Futcher )
1/1 - Cambridge ( A ) W 0-1 ( Junior Bent )
Of course, in our pomp in the late 1950's and early 60's, there was a fair chance 1 or more of the traditional 3 Festive fixtures would have been postponed due to the lack of undersoil heating or pitch drainage problems ...

Re: Last time 3 wins over Xmas?
I think we did similar when Howe was in charge where we won the game before Xmas and the two during Xmas but threw away a 1-0 win in injury time at Leeds to lose 2-1 in the New Year gamePtangyangkipperbang wrote: ↑Mon Jan 02, 2023 7:02 pmIn 1979 we beat Wrexham 21st Dec.Newcastle on Boxing Day then Notts County away on the 29th but lost at Shrewsbury on NYD.Does that count? We played 4 games in 8 days over Xmas in the 93/94 promotion season winning 3 and drawing 1 but it wasnt 3 wins in a row

What's your problem Toyboy, are attention seeking, angry or just a bit drunk?

Re: Last time 3 wins over Xmas?
We won 3 on the spin in the 17/18 season around Christmas I recall, West Ham, Huddersfield and the 3rd one escaped me turns it was Fulham, however prior to that we were hammered 5-1 by Everton on Boxing Day, and the Fulham didn't take place until 12 January.
I don't remember many winning runs over the holiday period, Boxing Day in particular has produced some real drubbings, 5-2 at Blackpool, the infamous 3-0 reverse at Hull, and the aforementioned 5-1 thrashing at home to Everton when Gibson made what I think was his one and only league start for us.

Re: Last time 3 wins over Xmas?
In terms of 3 games over the Christmas/New Year period then Clarets4me is right above with the 89/90 season and the scores he/she has posted.
Another time more recent was the 04/05 season but we only played two games at Christmas when we beat Wigan 1-0 on 28th December and Stoke 1-0 on 3rd January.
