Can’t believe he was 58, I remember watching him as a kid, made me realise how long ago that was. What a player!

I've just seen it mentioned, with the title: "Gianluca Vialli Dead"
Always seems a bit crass to have that wording as the headline of a newspaper.

RIP, saw him for the first time during the Euro's (don't remember where), where he formed a formidable striking force with Mancini.

Just reminds you of the relativity of life and the reason not to get nervous about small things and little setbacks.

Sad news indeed.

James Richardson, Football Italia. Super Sunday with a swaggering Sampdoria. Vialli and Mancini scoring for fun with the best football kits ever. Happy Memories.

Very sad.

That team Chelsea had in the mid-late 90’s with Vialli, Gullit, Zola, Di Matteo, Lebouef, Petrescu etc felt like such a watershed moment for the Premier League. They were a team ahead of their time in the manner they melded European quality with English grit and they had success in domestic cups/UEFA Cup etc (as it was). Great to watch those players on Match of the Day and Sky at the time.

He was a brilliant finisher and always spoke in a very measured manner. RIP to a bit of a footballing icon of mine when I was growing up.

This is a shock. Was a name everyone knew from watching Football Italia then when he came to Chelsea he was one that get like he’d been there for ages

Knew he had been given all clear from initial diagnosis, but didn’t know he had be re-diagnosed

Great player, one of the influx of players in the 90's who really appeared to improve the PL unlike numerous others.

Seemed a likeable bloke.

As people have mentioned watching football Italia on a Sunday watching him for Juventus away at Milan constantly running up and down getting nothing then one chance and it’s in the net. He was a great player loved watching him.
