Benson and Zaroury - how many millions?

Post by Milltown1882 » Sat Jan 07, 2023 4:21 pm

Both remind me of Mahrez when he was at Leicester and look where he is now. Realistically if we do go up and teams start floating about next season what’s the base price we sell at?

Has to be £30mil+ surely.

They were good when we bought them but VK has made them great.

Our model now is to buy and sell on at a profit. I wouldn't be surprised to see one leave in the summer if a silly offer came in.

Not that I'd want it though

I think you may be missing the fact that is our new model.

We buy prospects, we help develop them, then we sell for a considerable profit. That’s us I’m afraid. Enjoy them while we can.

Let's see if they can cut it in the PL first. I think one can; not sure about the other. Valuations of £30m at this point are pie in the sky.

Why, plenty of players never kicked a ball in Prem gone for mega money.

Our model until the debt is paid off. If you have money and don't have to sell, then you don't have to sell.

Not that I agree with the 30m valuations but Gibbs-White went for 30m+ last summer.

Exactly, we don’t know how either will get on. I presume you are less certain about Benson, and I’d agree. But his performance today and at Old Trafford give me confidence that he can step up. I think he’s made a lot of progress already this season too so hopefully will continue on that path.

In terms of selling on, if they are good enough to step up then they will be worth a lot more after a season in the PL so I wouldn’t expect either to be sold this summer.

Think it’s quite clear they can make it in the prem. Man Utd fans were praising benson after he looked as good as anyone on the pitch against them and today both were class against lower level prem side.

One? And I recall there were multiple layers of add-ons - wasn't £30m base fee.

Because we have a scouting team that don’t believe the myth that these types of player are unaffordable and cost millions upon millions. Long overdue and I am loving it

Pace seems to be very data-driven and so does Kompany. Absolutely no reason why we can't keep bringing in players this good.

I’m confident both will step up to the PL very well. They’ve both got excellent technique, and have the ability to change their pace over 5/10 yards to get away from defenders. They are both huge, huge goal threats as well. They lack physicality but there are so many PL wingers who are the same - as long as you’ve got 3 athletic midfield players it’s not a problem.

Not arsed about the valuations of either yet because we won’t be selling either until at least summer 2024.

Both of these will each net us more than we got for Keane, Collins or Wood.

In my opinion.

Biggest worry has to be losing VK himself. I'm sure he's very happy working with Pace and what he's achieving at our club but money speaks at the end of the day and if he carries on like this and we gain promotion then I'm sure some of the richer clubs will be looking at him.

Think they are both PL quality and will be great for us next season.

The one who really will get us the big money is Zaroury. His ceiling is wherever he wants it to be, I can’t really see too many weaknesses to his game! Benson I am less convinced we will get big money for, only because he is already mid 20s. Let’s hope that’s the case and we get to keep him!

Pace brought him here though. Something to keep in mind. If he can bring in someone like Kompany then he can do it again.

Benson looked a little unhappy / frustrated at full time. Hopefully not got a niggle It fid coincide with Anas’s song being sung again, perhaps he doesn’t feel the same love from the stands (his song doesn’t get the constant renditions) , even though we all know it’s there.

McNeil moved for £20 million. You'd have to expect AT LEAST that for these two if they have a decent season with us the Prem next season.

I reckon both would be absolutely fine in the Premier League. They’d be more protected by the referees for starters.

Plenty of players with far less talent than these two are already plying their trade in the top tier.

Sublime, supreme, special players.

Zaroury's second is genuinely one of the best goals I've seen a Burnley player score. Double megs?!

Touching 40 for cornet and McNeil, 7 for benson and Zaroury. Crazy.

They are definitely worth a lot even now. Also and perhaps worth more in time is Beyer. Wish we could sign him on a permanent basis.

It kind of shows how small-time we think in that as soon as we get a decent player, we start talking about how much we can sell them for.

How about keeping hold of them?

We have to pay off the debt as there is no guarantee of PL football for any sustained period.

Zaroury's potential is off the charts. I can't remember seeing a Burnley player since Keane who I thought could play at the top. Zaroury, he looks like he could be a Champions League player.

Zaroury's potential is off the charts. I can't remember seeing a Burnley player since Keane who I thought could play at the top. Zaroury, he looks like he could be a Champions League player.
His first touch and general close control is out of this world.
